About Sean Mackenzie
Friendly and always ready to help.
Sean Mackenzie purchased this Cabin in 1999
Why Sean Mackenzie chose Mullumbimby
The Campsite is a space my partner and I originally created for ourselves to stay in during holiday periods while the main house was being rented to long-term tenants. There is a lot of love and comfort.
What makes this Cabin unique
The privacy and serenity are sublime here on this awesome parkland like property. As we are in rural Mullumbimby, chickens and horses become an alternative entertainment option to your own fabulous company.

The 2 rooms with outdoor kitchen & bathroom. It's terrific! Very comfortable for a couple & quiet.
The property is large & beautifully maintained. The rentable cottage is set apart from the main house so privacy is assured. The owners live on the property but are not in the least intrusive. There are chooks running around during the day on the property and horses in the adjacent fields. A lovely, quiet view across paddocks to hills in the distance. All needs are catered for. It has well thought through kitchen requirements & an adequate bathroom (as long as you approve, as we do, of a composting loo which has no smell). There is also has a basin & shower. The landscaping around the hut has been done to ensure a small gem of native greenery & exotic plants with a high fence for privacy. There is also outdoor as well as verandah seating. All in all, we would highly recommend this property, except perhaps in winter for all but the most hardy, at any time of year.
Serene connection with nature
The outdoor shower was amazing! And the surrounding area was a beautiful experience that allowed us to get away from the hustle of the city.
Only criticisms would be the gardens may need a little TLC, and the inside and kitchen could be a bit cleaner.
But these are small things. The week we spent there was serene, and the owners were nothing but absolutely lovely to us. They were willing to help whenever we needed them.
Thankyou and I will see you again 🍻
A lovely tranquil spot to take a break from life
Sean was a wonderful host - unobtrusive but there if you needed him (to change the gas bottle, have a friendly chat with a lost visitor). The cabin is very comfortable, clean and homely. It was lovely sitting outside with the horses and chooks for company. We unwound straight away and found ourselves slowing right down over the 5 night stay. The kitchen is pretty basic, but we did manage to bang out some good meals with what we had. Of course the shower remains the highlight. Easy drive into town, and the beach only 15 minutes away. A great location, a great retreat. Thank you.
Lovely quiet spot. (No TV) but plenty of WiFi to use if you want it.
Shower was to die for. Cabin was lovely, quiet and air conditioned. Bed was very comfortable and had a great night’s sleep before another hard day of long distance driving. Parking was good as I had a trailer. Host were wonderful and did not bother me at all after check in. Will stay again for sure...
A rustic alternative... so enjoyable!
A really great escape! Peaceful and serene but located close to town.
A great place to chill
A peaceful place to stay in some of the most beautiful countryside on earth. Sean has created a unique opportunity to "camp" in comfort. The air-conditioned cabin has a comfortable living space and bedroom with windows looking out across the paddock to the low hills in the west. The couch on the verandah is the very best place ever to watch the sunset with a glass of wine! The outdoor camp kitchen is well appointed with everything you'll need and the bathroom annex is a joy with a shutter that opens for a view of green grass horses and sky while you sit on the toilet or enjoy the fabulous hot shower.
We were visited by horses who poke their noses over the verandah fence for a pat, and a crowd of chickens who dashed from who knows where at the first suggestion of a sound from the kitchen.
We made it to the Friday Farmers Market in Mullumbimby and the monthly Mullumbimby 3rd Saturday Craft Market. We ate at some great restaurants in Mullumbimby, went to the beaches in Brunswick Heads and Byron Bay and explored some wonderful scenic drives. We can't wait to go back!
The property is located 1.47 km down Main Arm Road, on the left just before the 80 km speed sign (look for a red metal pig letterbox and wooden post fence!). You will need to come to the end of the driveway (past a house on the right). Please always drive slowly down the driveway as the road generates dust! Greatly appreciated.
If you're using a sat navigation - use Google Maps or try entering 123 Main Arm Road. (it may struggle to find us). Please call if you need any help.
