Rail Trail River House

Relax and unwind in this spacious and comfortable 3 bedroom ‘Home away from Home’. Located in a quiet court setting on the banks of the gorgeous Ovens River just 80 metres from Rail Trail Café and local pub and shops. Wander through our gardens and beyond, down to tranquil park-land area with secluded river beach-frontage. The house boasts a fantastic fully-equipped kitchen, 3 large bedrooms, 1 large bathroom with double shower and deep bath (toilet separate), fully equipped laundry, and an expansive lounge room including plenty of comfy couches and recliners. We have secure lock up storage for your bikes, and a shaded rotunda with new Weber BBQ to make outdoor entertaining a breeze.

We have included everything we could think of to make your holiday experience pleasant and comfortable, and will leave you in peace to enjoy your stay. However, if there is something more you need, or anything is amiss, please feel free to call, as we are literally just a stone’s throw away, and always happy to oblige!

Getting Here:

We are just over 3 hours from Melbourne by car, or you can catch the train from Southern Cross to Wangaratta then V-line bus to Porepunkah. There is a small airstrip just outside Porepunkah, and Albury airport is 75 minutes drive away.

Getting Around:

Once here, the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail is at the top end of the court, so you can walk or ride to nearby Bright (6km) or local Porepunkah Wineries. There are Vline buses that depart from outside Punkah Pantry heading towards Bright or Wangaratta, as well as numerous private operators to help you with any other transport needs.

Our Community:

Porepunkah is a gorgeous town with a friendly welcoming atmosphere. Locals and tourists alike enjoy the relaxed feel and recently upgraded facilities in the town centre. Great dining options are on offer with Rail Trail Cafe, Punkah Pub, Punkah pantry and the Local Roadhouse. There is also a children's playground, swimming hole and toddler pool down at the nearby riverside park. Porepunkah is the gateway to majestic Mt Buffalo. Ask us about the many beautiful walking tracks and adventures to be had locally :)


You will have the entire place to yourselves however bedroom access is determined by guest numbers.

1-2 guests offers 1 bedroom, 3-4 guests offers 2 bedrooms, 5-6 guests offer 3 bedrooms.

Base rates provided are for 2 guests. Extra guests will attract extra charges.

Please note we are a smoke-free and pet-free property.
Children definitely welcome, but must be supervised - especially in outdoor garden areas, as our property backs onto the river, and although we have fencing, it is not child-proof pool fencing.
