Beautiful Property

We had such an amazing time at this beautiful property. The ocean views were amazing! Big enough for the whole family and we loved that the teenagers had their own area! Kitchen was stocked and ready and the huge dining room table enabled us to eat together and play fun games after dinner! Would highly recommend this get away spot!

We enjoyed our stay at this ocean view property, with convenient beach and town access. The well-equipped kitchen made gourmet meals possible. The furniture was super comfortable. The kiddy gates for the stairs were perfect for our elderly dog.

Family Gathering

This house was ideal for our family of 7. Spacious, plenty of bedrooms, and dog friendly. It is located a few short steps from the beach with ocean and lake views. All of the furnishings are comfortable and in good condition. The house is located mid way between Cannon Beach and Tillamook, but in a quiet area with a beautiful uncrowded beach. Perfect!

The dishwasher and clothes washer didn’t work. We were informed 8 hours prior to checkin. Delayed checkin, which was a couple of hours and the issue still wasn’t fixed. The house is in a great location. It’s dated, but if it had functional appliances would be great for a family outing for multiple days. Host fees were nearly 40% of the booking price, and all the text message communications were an AI automated response. Was offered 125 for our trouble after involving VRBO. Lame. Please do better operating these vrbo’s. The house could be fantastic with a few BASIC appliance upgrades and actual customer service.

Perfect getaway

We had a great time in Rockaway. The house was perfect for 2 families. Our kids were able to watch movies and play games in the upper living space while the adults hung in the lower living room. They even choreographed a performance for us on the large back deck! :) It was a short walk to the beach and the large front windows allowed for clear views of the sunset. Plenty of towels and bedding, and the kitchen was pretty stocked for your cooking needs. The home is dated but in perfect condition for a rental. We would definitely return!

Fantastic family vacation house.

The house was very clean and access to the beach was great. The view was fantastic! I was disappointed that the gas fireplace wasn't working and the technician wasn't able to fix it either. It seems minor but I was really looking forward to this feature! Hope it's fixed by the next time we visit.

Great space

Loved the feel and comfort of the space for our group of 5 adults. Cozy with the gas free standing stove for hanging out, chatting, eating and playing games. Loved the view, brightness and feel of the main great room and proximity to the beach and shopping. Would be great with up to 6 adults although it does have sleeping spaces for more. The kitchen furnishings would not accommodate more people as they are low on table wear, silverware and other useful items such as foil and cling wrap for leftovers. I would stay there again, we had fun and were very comfortable. Thank you.

Location was great—just steps across the road to the beach, and big views from the front room and deck. House was spacious and seating comfortable. Kitchen well stocked with cooking equipment. Property management firm was mostly prompt with responses. But a few details definitely need attending to. Despite the photo that shows a bright, light-flooded living room, the house sorely lacks adequate lighting. There are no overhead lights anywhere, and not enough floor lamps to make up for it. Especially during a fall/winter stay, when it is dark by 4:30 PM, it is difficult to see. Could not read comfortably on the sofa or play games on the coffee table, nor easily cook dinner in the kitchen. The bedroom on the main floor likewise is in need of overhead lighting—a simple bar of can lights would do it. There were two lamps by the sides of the bed with rather dull fluorescent bulbs, but they weren't nearly enough to light the high-ceilinged room. Couldn't see to use the mirror above the dresser or find stuff in drawers. The bedding was also inadequate: just a sheet and a thin cotton coverlet. It was cold and stormy, and we sure could have used a blanket, but there were none in the closet. There was no hand soap in the upstairs bathroom, and we couldn't find any in the closet, nor did we get a response when I texted the management firm to inquire if I could find some anywhere else. Also got only two dishwasher detergent pods, not enough for a 3-night stay for 6 people over Thanksgivig

Great location, huge house. Light switches and electrical outlet need to be fixed. Numerous outlets and switches didn't work. Seems to be a known problem because there were several long exit on cords on the floor. For the money we paid, we expect the property to be in good working order.

Overall stay was good. View and location are great, lots of room. Place is more dated than pictures make it look. We arrived and found the fireplace not working and there was no heat in the upstairs as the baseboard heaters had been taped off along with several outlets that didn't work. We contacted the property management company and they gave us more detailed instructions and where to find a space heater, but it still didn't work. After contacting them again they said they would send someone out, that person never came during our three night stay. We have stayed with Meredith Properties in the past and I would say we expected more from this listing.

Good news / Bad news

Good news: Location and view are terrific. Bad news: House had issues 
 there was no heat in downstairs bedroom and it was a very cold weekend. The floor board heat upstairs was restricted by tape over the thermostat. Only heat was small gas fireplace which was ok once it got warmed up. One section of lights did not work (breaker problem?). Lamp shade broken in main bedroom. TV instructions were not accurate. Basically house did not feel well maintained. Staff were mostly responsive but limited in what they could do as “had to contact owners”. Phone response was better than text response. They did give a small refund and promised to address the issues.

Beware before renting!

My recent VRBO rental experience in Rockaway Beach, OR, managed by Manzanita Vacation Rentals by Meredith Lodging, was highly disappointing. This 3-bedroom property had potential, but its issues overshadowed any positives. Two downstairs bedrooms had no electricity—no lights and nonfunctional plugs. A single extension cord from the laundry room barely addressed this, with one working plug. The breaker box had a "do not reset" note, indicating a recurring problem. Despite informing Manzanita Vacation Rentals, there was no response or resolution. I reached out to VRBO for help, hoping for a solution. While the view was as advertised, the lack of electricity in most of the bedrooms and the host's unresponsiveness ruined the stay. This promising property turned out to be a letdown. I won't recommend it until these problems are fixed. I'm open to revising my review if these issues are addressed, but for now, I suggest looking elsewhere for accommodations in Rockaway Beach.

Great location, needs maintenance...

GOOD NEWS: Great location, great view, good floorplan. Two tv/living areas, couches in upstairs area are great. 4.5 star clean. Gas fireplace DOES work, if you use the switch on the floor by the stove. Lights and outlets in basement bedrooms do work, but some outlets are wired to the wall switch, so lamps must be plugged into correct outlet (and turned on) to work with the switch. If you don't want them to work with the switch, keep wall switch in "on" position and turn lamps on/off manually.BAD NEWS: Terrible mildew smell that gets worse downstairs. Several lights/lamps/bulbs/remotes don't work. Bathroom window broken, shower door fell off so it was unusable. Kitchen sink drips and leaks under sink. Horrible microwave. Outlet in d/s bath won't hold a plug. You have to bend your prongs and still it will fall out very easily. Faint cigarette smoke smell in the linen closets, oddly. All linens worn and torn and a little creepy. Front decks poorly maintained and starting to soften. Many windowsills have lost finish and starting to rot. The blue furniture in the front room looks comfy but is decrepit and sinks ridiculously. Need a crane to get you out of it. Had to put pillows under the cushions. Upstairs king mattress is AWFUL. Downstairs beds bearable. Other than the newish bonus room couches, most functional items in the home are old and beat up. Also, there are NO instructions for working TVs - never did figure out the sound bar... UGH. Never again....

Poor Management

The inside of the house is very nice. A little dated in parts, but they are also making upgrades. Large beautiful lay out, like pictures. Our biggest problem was management group communication, outside cleanliness and dangerous deck. I would email and not get an answer for up to six days. I double checked with management because of a Sunday check in that code was good to go. Nope locked out with a 10 month old. After about an hour numerous phone numbers and messages left we finally got a person. Who did not apologize just gave us another code. Garbage was left from previous guest about six contractor bags full. Smelt terrible, they finally came and picked it up after 4 days and 3 emails and two phone calls. After I was told to drag it down the road, in an email. I could not even get the day of the week to put out the garbage from them. I arrived on a Sunday, on Wednesday I was told garbage gets picked up Thursdays. We left Friday and the garbage was still sitting in the garbage can at the end of the driveway. The outside windows and deck glass had not been cleaned in I do not know how long. I cleaned them myself and had a beautiful view for the week after that. Front deck boards are iffy, all corner connections on the deck are separated. We went out on the back deck once. Very unsafe, spongy my daughter in law who is 130 lbs foot broke thru a board so we did not get on it again. The inside was very nice, well stocked. The owners need to get a new management team. Fix the deck it is dangerous. Beautiful location. I will watch, I would love to go back to that area.
