About Byron Rohrer
Our lovely home is available for weekly rentals If you like the ocean, then this is the place for you... sitting in the living room is like being on the bridge of a ship - so everyone says! fully Accessible.
Byron Rohrer purchased this Condo in 1996
Why Byron Rohrer chose Mission Beach
This is the most beautiful spot on the coast of southern california because it faces to the south... so you can enjoy the morning sunrise AND the evening sunsets, all from the living room window.... warm all day sun in the winter, overlooking the entrance to Mission Bay. Boats going by, whales, dolphin, kayakers, you don't even have to leave the house to enjoy the sea. In the summer it is cooled with the sea breezes... sublime.
What makes this Condo unique
Designer kitchen (we are into cooking) and views so wonderful you never want to leave the house. All day sun in the winter, cool sea breezes in the summer... sleep with the doors open; completely safe and secure.

We rented from Byron for 30 days in this Condo and enjoyed it very much. Enjoyed watching all types of boats going out early in the morning along with Kaiaking at sunset. Great kitchen for cooking along with many of the immediate supplies in place. The cleaning crew did a great job as well. Any issues or questions, were replied quickly from Byron. Enjoyed getting to meet him before we left.
We had a wonderful time, the condo was very clean and spacious. We really enjoyed being able to cook out on the deck and in the well-appointed kitchen. And having a washer/dryer in the unit was extremely useful, as we didn't have to pack so many clothes to bring with us! The only downside was the previous tenants had turned the thermostat on, so the HEAT was on which made the condo very very hot the first couple of days until we figured out what was wrong! LOL After that, the condo was kept cool by the ocean breezes and the fans. There is immediate access to the ocean, the bay, and walking distance to many restaurants and pubs. Watching the many varieties of boats traveling the channel while sitting on the deck or inside was wonderful, and we saw many sea lions and dolphins as well. We will definitely be staying here again on our next trip! Thank you Byron and special thanks to Robert for being available so quickly to help troubleshoot the thermostat!
Much better than a hotel stay!
My family and I had never used VRBO for a vacation before, choosing hotels in the past. However, our stay in South Mission Beach was awesome and SO much better than a hotel. We were able to save money, not only on our accommodations, but on food cost as well since we made breakfast every morning in the kitchen. The local grocery store is convenient, but use it for a few items rather than a large grocery trip, due to cost and limited selection. Parking was a bit tight, as the two parking spaces for the condo are separated by a doorway. We rented a car and still had to jump out so my husband could pull into the space. Height was not the problem, width is. Safety was great, not only locks on doors but a locked door to even get to the front door. Beds are comfy. Our boys hung over the twin beds, but they are 6'4" and 6'5." They did not complain however! Loved having a "home" to go back to after being out for the day. We did check out Escapeology located in the Mission Beach amusement park area and loved it, went back to all three rooms! We ate churros, played mini golf and watched the sunset over the ocean. While we did hit several spots in San Diego/La Jolla, our favorite times were hanging at the beach, watching waves (me)...jumping waves (my boys!). The weather was agreeable, not quite as warm as we were hoping. The ocean is cold and short sleeves or even a jacket were necessary most evenings. However, the sun was out most of the time and the view is out of this world! Missed the sound of the ocean when we got back to the Heartland :) Oh, there was a lot of construction going on during our stay and a water main got hit one afternoon. However, after a call to the owner's Dad, he found out what had happened and called back promptly. A water wagon had been parked outside and the water was back on before we really missed it. While the sounds of the construction and traffic are evident when the doors are open, it really isn't too noticeable when they are all closed.
Great family spot
We really enjoyed this place. This unit is in a building at the south tip of the Mission peninsula, directly across from dog beach. I think this is the best unit in the building, it has a bigger deck than the rest, and faces the channel. It's an easy walk out onto the beach, but you are away from all the beach chaos, which is nice. I prefer the view of the channel to a beach view, it was fun watching the boats go in and out all day and night. We also saw sea lions and a dolphin in the channel. We had two teenage daughters with us, so the second bedroom with twin beds was perfect for them. They said the beds were small but comfortable. Our bed was comfortable, and there were plenty of bath towels, beach towels, sheets, blankets, etc. Among the many beach supplies, we only used the two beach chairs, and a cooler. We used the outdoor deck a lot, and the weather was cool enough that we wouldn't have used air conditioning anyway, so we didn't miss it. It was low 70s during the day. The property was clean and pretty well maintained, and the instructions were thorough. I think it would have been tough for more than four people to be comfortable, but a small child would have been ok. We had to call the manager for help with the lockbox, and he was friendly and responsive. Weekend traffic was bad, which made getting around the area slow, but during the week it was fine. I would go back to this place.
Everything in the apartment was really clean and the view was spectacular.
We were working at the Convention Center for most of the week but the sun rise and sunset's were beautiful
Thank you Byron for the opportunity to spend a fantastic week in this special space. I enjoyed the wrap around views in a lovingly maintained, spacious condo. The kitchen was so well equipped that it felt like home as I prepared meals for several sets of dinner guests. Nothing compares to falling asleep and waking up to the sight and sound of the ocean.
