About Mary Beth Tanner

We built this little cabin ourselves, with help from a few of our friends. We lived here until 2006 when we outgrew it. We have built a larger cabin that shares 2 acres with the rental cabin. We live there with our family, so we are close by if you need anything. We love our woods and the town of Black Mountain!

High Rock Log Cabin in Black Mountain

  • 5 of 5

Had a wonderful stay at High Rock Log Cabin in Black mountain, North Carolina. The cabin was extremely clean and comfortable. It's a wonderful cabin to read, unwind and relax in or (as we did) explore the region by day & chill out at the cabin by night The owners were great to work with & we enjoyed the short time we were there very much. The road up the High Rock Acres drive is mostly gravel with some deep ruts, so plan accordingly as to what vehicle you take. -Mike & Cindy Tippett

Very nice quiet serene location.

  • 5 of 5

The secluded location is great. My husband and I enjoyed a very relaxing stay and the little towns of Black Mountain and Montreat are charming enclaves reminiscent of a simpler time. We would definitely like to go back to stay at High Rock cabin and explore more of the area.

Quiet and close

  • 5 of 5

My husband, daughter and I stayed here for the Spartan race back in August. We thoroughly enjoyed the calm and quiet that this cabin offered. It was also nice to have the foam topper for the couch pull out bed since the mattresses for those are so thin. Very comfortable cabin, well stocked kitchen and nice bathroom. Also loved the sample of local honey left as a gift from the owners! Thanks for a great experience!

Remarkable mountaintop cabin

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful, well-kept cabin is nestled into the woods atop a mountain, about a mile or so from the continental divide. Although it does not have a long range view, you are undeniably in the mountains, in the midst of the wild, yet just 20 minutes from the popular destinations of Black Mountain, Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. I was there for a week, partly work and partly vacation. All was clean, fresh and well appointed with everything you could need. If it weren't for my locking the key in the cabin, I likely would never have even needed to meet the hosts. Buck was very friendly and helpful. Mary Beth was always quick to respond to my communications before/after, extremely helpful and professional. I'm sure I'll be back.

Loved This Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I rented the cabin for our anniversary trip back in April and we loved it. The cabin was cozy but not cramped. We loved that it was close to downtown Black Mountain but secluded enough for us to relax in peace and quiet. The place was clean and had a great woodsy atmosphere. We're going back in September of this year.

Quiet, Peaceful, and Secluded - Perfect for a Couple's Getaway

  • 5 of 5

The cabin and grounds were just as described in the listing, and met our expectations in every way. The cabin was just the right size for my wife and I, and along with our dog, Einstein, we had an enjoyable and relaxing getaway at the High Rock Log Cabin. The place was clean and comfortable, and the combination of shade and cool breezes allowed us to leave the A/C off in favor of breathing in the fresh air and mountain laurel aroma . The kitchen had every item of cookware or utensil that we needed, and there were plenty of towels, extra bedding, etc. to make our stay comfortable. The location gave us easy access to Black Mountain, and Asheville was just a few minutes farther. Great stay, and no complaints.
