Location Location Location!!! Next to everything you'll want to do!! The best and most comfortable cabin you'll find!!

Enjoy this very cozy cabin located at over a mile high. Drink your favorite coffee while enjoying an amazing sunrise and breath taking views of Grandfather Mountain. With wraparound windows you can enjoy spectacular long range mountain views from the comfort of a wraparound dining table. We have the easiest cabin access and entry this high on the slopes! No numerous stairs to climb with all your belongings and painless secure access to the lower level slope entrance.

This cabin is directly adjacent to Beech Mountain Resort mountain biking excitement. With summer temperatures of 74 degrees and light revitalizing winds, extreme bikers can hit the downhill trail right from the lower deck. We feature a dedicated bike entrance from the lower deck with plenty of gear storage and bike stands. At the village ride the chairlift to the top while lift operators load and unload your bike for beginner, intermediate, or advanced downhill fun and do it again! If trail riding is more you speed there are miles of trail riding and hiking on the Emerald Mountain Outback trails next to the cabin.

Start the morning off right physically and spiritually with Saturday morning yoga at the 5506' Skybar. With this panoramic view and gentle wind you’ll have no problem “getting your mind right”!! The resort also features challenging 18 hole disc golf. These magnificent views from the course will make up for any bad hole played! Check out www.beechmountainresort.com for resort info on lift rides, biking, yoga, disc golf, and upcoming music and events at the resort.

Don't forget you'll be first in line to visit the Land of Oz just right beside the Skybar usually open each Friday in June and the Autumn Festival in September. Visit www.landofoznc.com for hours and days of operation.

After a great day of fun and exercise you can enjoy lunch and dinner in the resort village Beech Tree, or in town at Brick Oven Pizza, Famous Fast Eddies, Edward's Fine Dining, or many others. Each weekend the resort provides top notch live music at the famous 5506’ Skybar, or take in the delicious Beech Mountain Brew made right in the resort village. Don’t forget to view the amazing sunset right beside the Skybar before returning for a refreshing hot bath in 1 of 2 tub/showers. When it’s time to “hit the hay” you will sleep wonderfully in 1 of the 3 KING size beds with "ChiroSlumber" mattresses. One bedroom features a one-of-a-kind custom king size bunk bed! You'll not get this kind of refreshing sleep after a hard fun day anywhere on this mountain!

The décor is truly mountain cabin with all the trimmings of warm colors, distressed floors, interior barn siding, and fireplace. This cabin is one of only a handful for rent slope side this close to the mountain bike trails and the 5506’ Skybar. It is one of even less featuring easy entry from the road offering home front legal 2 car parking. The cabin owners are just yards away right next door for your convenience, advice, or needs.

With our club membership play golf, tennis, or relax by the heated pool at the Beech Mountain Club (Additional guest rates will apply). We recommend again enjoying great live music at the 5506" Skybar just yards from the cabin while taking in stunning picturesque views.

The swimming pool is open from Memorial Day until Labor Day. The golf course and tennis courts are open from Memorial Day through Mid-October.

This majestic cabin is ideal for families and perfect for that romantic getaway all year round with privacy and window shades. We're so sorry NO PETS allowed, NO SMOKING, no more than 6 occupants, and 2 car parking maximum allowed. No Exceptions for any of these policies.

About Kevin Mullins

We've been Beech Mountain lovers since its opening. Our family's been skiing here since the resort's opening day. This is our 3rd generation of snow lovers and outdoor enthusiasts on this mountain. When we had the opportunity to purchase a home on the slope years ago we jumped at the chance. It has been one of the best family decisions we have ever made.

Over the years we realized the desperate need for nice, clean accommodations directly on the slope for families and couples to have that same experience. This cabin had been neglected for decades but the location was GREAT and right beside our present cabin. It was re-engineered and completely remodeled inside and out with comfort and ease in mind. We hope you enjoy the mountain experience just as much as we do.

Kevin Mullins purchased this cabin in 2015

Why Kevin Mullins chose Beech Mountain

There aren't many CONTINOUSLY MAINTAINED, locally owned, mildew and mold free homes available for rent here. There's even less slope side properties and unfortunately none boasts the ease of access, clean, cozy atmosphere like this essentially new cabin. Re-engineered floor plan and decking make your renting experience a pleasure and ease. The LEGAL parking area accommodates 2 vehicles without the threat of towing like most rentals here. You can back your vehicle and all of your belongings right up to the home with wide snow and mud free steps leading directly into the kitchen. Motion lighting will guide you if you arrive late night. The maintained steps and decking are constructed of metal grating allowing snow and dirt to fall through for ease of access and outdoor enjoyment.

What makes this cabin unique

Absolutely a prime location year round for all activities. Slope side ski-in ski-out for winter fun and easy access directly in front of the mountain bike trails for summer excitement. The famous Skybar is just yards away so you can simply walk to 5506' for cocktails or summer Saturday morning yoga . The summer boasts great live music at 5506' from recording artists every Saturday evening . You''ll also be one of the closest cabins to the Land of Oz and all of the Emerald Outback Trails. Being next door to everything is always a benefit!

Awesome slopeside chalet!

  • 4 of 5

Our second time staying at this gem, what a place! Very comfortable chalet offering all modern amenities including satellite TV and wi-fi. Gas fireplace is a little tricky to operate but not really needed since the heating system works very well. Right on Upper Shawneeshaw and it's a lot of fun hanging out on the deck watching the skiers and snowboarders fly past! Only a 2 minute drive down the hill to restaurants and everything else Beech Mountain has to offer. Make sure you have 4WD or chains....if they're making snow or there's snow/ice in the forecast, getting up and down the hill to the house is challenging.

Loved it at the top!

  • 5 of 5

If you like the top of the mountain, this is about as close as you can get. The view is spectacular and the place is great with a deck connected to the slope. The owners even had a guy come plow and shovel the fresh snow off the walk and parking for us. The beds are fantastic and the cabin is warm. ( It gets cold on top). Lots of new amenities including the microwave and dishes. A great place to bring your ski or boarders for a vacation. Thanks for the great hospitality! We will definitely be back!!

Owner's Response: Thanks George! Nothing like on the slope for sure. Yes the beds are sweet and we're the only cabin with personal shoveling. We want our guests to have fun, not struggle on snow covered steps and decking. Thanks again for the great review!

Great location, awesome hosts, we will be back

  • 5 of 5

Let me start by saying thank you to Kevin and Sara for being so nice and welcoming us like we were family. You have a wonderful chalet here. Love the benches downstairs. Really made it easy to gear up and hit the slopes. It is easier to access the slopes here than it would be if we stayed at the ski rental shop. For those considering staying here I would say don’t wait. I had concern about the stairs because my 91 year old aunt was with us but with bedrooms, bathrooms, den, kitchen and eating area all on one level she didn’t need to go up and down any stairs unless we went out for dinner or to go to town. The setup for the eating area allows you to watch the slopes while enjoying your meal. The chalet is well insulated against noise and cold unlike other places I have stayed in the past so even if they are blowing snow you can easily get to sleep. Beds are fantastic, in fact I will be purchasing one of these for a replacement of my home bed as I haven’t slept this well in a long time. Hopefully this review helps answer any questions you may have had. Once again, thank you very much Kevin and Sara. We will see you guys again in the future.
