The place itself was fine for our whole family. But if you’re bringing a pet it’s a bit of a pain, there’s burrs all around the property and would get in our dogs feet so we had to walk down the road and bring a disposable bag due to the burrs. Same with adults and kids we couldn’t play in the yard where the tether ball pole was because of the burrs. There was no water pressure in the showers or much hot water except for the top floor. Overall it was okay just was really hard with a pet and make sure you wear shoes outside!

Though the house was mildly clean upon arrival, the floors were not clean. We expect some sand considering we are at the beach but you could tell they hadn’t been swept. We ran the vacuum and picked up a lot of sand, pet hair, small debris, etc. The house did not smell clean upon arrival either. It was just kind of “there,” nothing fresh about it. The house overall is an awesome layout, well equipped, and a really great distance from the beach! Brindley was excellent with the washing machine issue. We travelled with 3 little ones and banked on the washer and dryer in the unit. Unfortunately, the washer was expelling disgusting mildew/molding-looking black grunge on our laundry. We tried to clean the washer like we would our own but to no avail. Brindley submitted a maintenance ticket (day 2) and maintenance never showed up though we were there a whole week. We were unable to wash laundry all week and though we managed (thanks to packing extra for the little) it was a major bummer not to wash like planned. Brindley continued to check on the maintenance ticket and had fresh towels and wash clothes delivered to the house often. Much appreciated! The cleaning crew could do better and the maintenance crew could also. Everything else was smooth sailing and we enjoyed our stay.

a little run down. pool was dirty, hot tub shocked you when you tried to get in. the dishwasher did not turn on when we tried to run it. I called the management company who said they would send out a repair person....the maintenance guy came and said "oh, you need a dishwasher repair man"....like, we thought that is why he showed up. It never got fixed. sliding glass doors were extremely hard to open and shut. and all of the windows had rot issues. On the upside, the location and neighborhood were great. Easy walk to the beach and the house had a nice layout. It just needs some updates.

Comfortable

We were kind of the accidental tourists here during the COVID 19 shutdown. Unlike many others, we were on the island when the stay in place orders came down, and travel back home was going to be precarious. And our previous rental could not be continued. So we rented this location. It was all that we could have hoped for. We tend to rent this type of location, second house back from the ocean so as to have the view without the sky high price. And that is what we got. The ocean view is especially pleasing out the living area window, partly because there is no deck rail obstructing the view, and partly because the cottage ahead is kind of picturesque. The living area furniture is especially comfy, the kitchen table is large and also allows a view of the ocean. We did not need the extra space, but the second and first floor add a large number of accommodations. Plenty of glasses and plates and pots and pans for a large crowd, although the dishwasher and fridge might not be of that capacity. Beach access is nearly as easy as having a true beachfront cottage, the stairs are well maintained, and the beach area was beautiful and clean. Our shelties loved it down there! Personal taste, but I found the Caffey's Inlet neighborhood more pleasing and less sterile than others we have stayed at. This house is one of those with driveways onto the circle at the end of the road. One minor negative -- there is no shelter for vehicles, so if you arrive or depart in bad weather, it is not so convenient. And that aside, anyone renting any accommodations in this area should be prepared for serious stairs. But on the whole, this ranks high among the many rentals we have had around Duck over the years.
