I'm all about music, food, fun, and quirky culture...which makes New Orleans a perfect fit for me. My wife Emily and I love hosting like-minded people and helping newcomers experience just how rad this city is when they venture off of sticky smelly Bourbon Street.
Why Charlie chose Faubourg Delachaise
We bought this house in 2011 because it needed our love and attention! Since then, we have rehabilitated and restored its historical charm with a keen eye to preservation of its unique history (a carpenter named Henry Meyer built this house and the one next door--by hand--way back in 1874!). The owner-occupied double "shotgun" house now features all the convenient comforts of a newly constructed home while preserving its place in history.
What makes this House unique
The property is only steps away from Magazine Street in one of the most bustling and cultured enclaves of the city.

Great convenient Garden District location.
I just loved this place. Great location steps to the amazing Magazine Street where there is lots of boutique shopping and restaurants also it is close to the streetcar. I immediately felt at home. The kitchen is well equipped and it was really helpful to have the washer and dryer. Beds are comfortable. Literally on the corner of Magazine Street where there is 3 miles of boutiques, art galleries, restaurants and gift shops. Two grocery stores are in close proximity, Breaux Mart on Magazine and Fresh Market on St. Charles Avenue. There is also a Walgreens drug store on Magazine. Easy to get to the French Quarter on the Street Car for just $1.25 per ride. I totally enjoyed taking long walks around the Garden District where this apartment is located, taking photos of the grand homes. I prefer staying Uptown in the Garden District where this is located as it is so pleasant with all the oak trees everywhere and it is away from the tourist crowds but when I felt like mingling it was so easy to get to those areas. Internet worked well as did the air con and everything in the apartment. It is a traditional “shot gun” style home, that is a New Orkeans term for all the rooms being in a row, one after the other until you get to the back of the house. Lots of room here. I will definitely be staying here again without a doubt.
Great location just off Magazine
We just returned from a girls' weekend in New Orleans. We typically stay in the French Quarter, but decided to change neighborhoods. The location of the house was perfect for our shopping expeditions and restaurant excursions. There is so much to do within walking distance. Charlie was very responsive to requests for guidance/assistance and the house was exactly as pictured in the on-line description. It was spacious, clean and had all the amenities that we needed. It is a shotgun house (all rooms connected) but that did not present any issues for our group. Great find!
Inside: wonderful. Outside: a little raggard.
The inside is roomy and comfortable. The kitchen is first rate. The bedrooms are roomy and well ventilated. The living room is nice. There is a nice selection of reading material. It would be better if the cable TV service was better. There's no CNN, Fox News, or ESPN. I could not find the remote for the DVD player. A general instruction folder for the electronics would be helpful.
Outside needs work. The sidewalk is chewed up. Also, the chairs on the front porch could use some big weather proof cushions. The neighborhood is quiet. The location is convenient for travel downtown. Overall we were happy with the accommodations.
Loved my stay at this property. Filled with thoughtful details like a motion detector on the bathroom light, and everything else you could want. The location was perfect, one of my favorite neighborhoods in the city. Additionally, Charlie was especiallly and quickly responsive to any little concerns and question we needed addressed.
Don't hesitate to to stay here.
Nice uptown gem. Great location, great hosts, and comfortable accommodations.
Plenty of space for 4. Walk to restaurants, coffee shops, the market and the street car line. Beautiful old wood floors and high ceilings in a traditional NOLA shotgun house.
The apartment is literally a stone's throw (less than a block, or about 30 meters) from Magazine Street in one of the most lively and cultured enclaves of the city, featuring countless restaurants, bars, antique shops, art galleries, and some of the best night life New Orleans has to offer, all within walking distance!
