The house is in an unbeatable location, opposite Observatory Hill, with views of the Harbour Bridge and footsteps from The Rocks market, Circular Quay, Walsh Bay, the Opera House and the rest of Sydney’s finest.

Where European settlers hopped ashore in 1788, The Rocks is essentially the birthplace of modern Sydney. Amble along on cobbled laneways, enjoy a drink in Australia’s oldest pubs, and enjoy iconic attractions—the Opera House and Harbour Bridge.

Booking cancelled ONE HOUR BEFORE CHECKIN!

Got a phone call 1 hour from check in time to advise us we would be unable to stay. Very stressful!

Beautiful, home with great location, but odd layout, limited hot water and terrible check-in.

Wonderfully appointed, but be aware that the home is situated "vertically" with a downstairs living space, a steep stairwell to the ground floor with only a bedroom, a steep stairwell to the 1st floor with a bedroom and bath, then a steep stairwell to the 2nd floor with a bedroom and powder room. There is no ground floor bathroom. Property managed and VRBO "in box" attended to by property manager, not owner, so the communication was terrible. A few days prior to departing on my trip, I contacted the owner by VRBO to request check-in details. Never got a response, or even the address prior to departure. Upon arrival, I had 2 voicemail and 2 text messages indicating the property was not available due to an electrical problem. Got in touch with the property manager, who then gave us an alternative property for the 1st night. Had to pay extra transportation costs due to location. Then property manager arranged to transport us to original property, this took over an hour as we waited in the cold (no fault of the property manager). Upon arrival, discovered the odd layout. Kitchen had a mess on the floor from some chimney issue, hot water was not working, and wifi was not functioning. Due to late hour, I had to resolve these issues by myself. (Note: not more than 1 person can take a hot shower at a time.) Great location and well appointed. If you don't have a problem with many stairs and have a group of 2 or fewer, this may be a good match. Would not recommend if you have more people due to paucity of hot water.

Great Location, House Needs Improvements

The location was excellent - easy walk to restaurants/cafes in The Rocks and to Circular Quay. Early check-in was appreciated after our flight was changed. The house itself was average. The beds were very uncomfortable (hard as rock!). My husband and I ended up sleeping in the single beds as they were more comfortable than the other 2 double beds. My in-laws stayed with us and stayed in the master bedroom and were very uncomfortable as well. There are no extra pillows or blankets - we considered buying pillows just to get a better night sleep. Cleaners must only surface clean, we lifted up a couch cushion and it was filthy underneath, with dust and food. Underneath the couch in the lounge was full of pet hair. It needs a deep clean. Hot water is very minimal, we were warned before check-in that you needed quick showers but even so, 6 people cannot all shower around the same time of day. One 2/3 full bath took all the hot water. House is over 4 levels with very steep stairs so we wouldn't recommend for young kids or elderly. Otherwise it's a novelty to stay in a terrace house in a gorgeous location!

Home wasn't ready for first night and cold showers

We received a text the night before our arrival around 9:30pm that we would not be able to check-in to this property the following day. They wouldn't tell us why, but instead put us up in another property about 30-40 minutes away. Yes, where they put us up was nice, but we booked this property for the location. It also required our family of 5 to have a second travel day to switch from the temporary location to this house. We didn't shower until the second night and the water was freezing. We called property manager and he said previous guest have had a similar problem and to let the water run for awhile until hot water comes. We let it run for 15 minutes and the water was still freezing. The final night of our stay was the night before we got picked up at 6AM for journey home, which was going to be 25 hours. Again, the water was freezing so again, we took freezing showers. The water was warm in the mornings but at night there was no hot water, which is when we needed it They also included in our welcome email that the hot water would run out so use it sensibly. Seems to me like there is a hot water issue that needs addressing. The property manager was great at communicating, and always responded. After our stay I requested one-night refund for our inconveniences and the owners declined, saying they refunded our first night so that they could pay for our accommodations that was 30 minutes away. That didn't really feel like a solution, feels like what they were obligated to do. I tried to resolve with owners, but they refused to make up for the terrible experience. This is my first 1 start rating that I have given and it is unfortunate this is the only power we have when the owners don't deliver on what was promised. We booked this property because of the location and it was a great location.

Perfect city location

We went away for a weekend to celebrate a birthday, was a great location - walking distance to bars, restaurants and retail and a beautiful space to spend time with friends indoors and out. It's a beautiful and unique property with very helpful and responsive hosts.

Pleasant Get Away

Customer experience was great, owner was very responsive and even gave us complimentary parking for the night. House was clean and tidy, and loved the design / heritage of the home.

The house although has all modern appliances and facilities has kept the opulence and and period character of the Victorian era.

Great location. Walking distance from Harbour Bridge, Sydney Opera House, Museums, Art Galleries, High end designer shops, Barangaroo prescind, Sydney CBD. Surrounded by great restaurants, bars and cafes.

20 min drive to Balmoral Beach, Bondi Beach, Taronga Zoo and Centennial Park.
