About the property

Craftsman Bungalow, a 2 block stroll to Prescott's Historic Square

Granite Creek Cottage is an adorable 1939 Craftsman cottage just 2 blocks from the historic Courthouse Square and world famous Whiskey Row. This downtown area is where most of the eating, socializing, shopping happens. The Cottage sits right on Granite Creek, which runs seasonally.

Come experience the seasons! There is a little snow in the winter and cool weather in the summer. Prescott has amazing events year round like July 4th, Prescott Rodeo, the many Parades, special events at Halloween and Thanksgiving, Lighting of the Courthouse, Christmas festivities, and Watching The Boot Drop On Whiskey Row For The New Years Eve Event. The summer Concert Series brings free events to the Courthouse Square almost every night in the summer.

The Cottage has internet streaming WIFI TV's – and you can use our NETFLIX/AMAZON account. Complimentary wireless internet access is included. Bluetooth speakers are located in the living room and the bathroom for you to listen to your music. They are portable so feel free to take them outside, just remember to bring them back in:-)

This wonderful, charming and cozy 1200sf house has 9 foot ceilings, crown moldings, beadboard, original dining room and kitchen pantry built-ins, laundry room and an Arizona Room with a new slate floor. The Cottage has retained its original charm but is improved with modern amenities such as central heat and air conditioning, a very large remodeled bath with tiled shower, and a completely renovated kitchen. Appliances include a 5 burner gas stove and full-sized oven, a microwave and a coffee maker.

Our first bedroom is called the Oak Room and has a lovely oak carved four poster bed and armoire that has a hideaway TV. There is also ample closet space.

Our second bedroom is called the Pine Room it has a pine four poster bed draped in lace and a tall pine dresser. There is also ample closet space. This bedroom has direct access to the bathroom.

The dining room has been decorated to the original late 1930’s period of the house. The table has seating for 6. There is a charming built in hutch where you will find fun family games.

The living room has the original feel of the cottage and has been updated to modern day. The sofa and two swivel chairs are comfortable. There is an antique oak fireplace with a fireplace art insert. (HEATING AND COOLING ARE NOW DONE BY THE CENTRAL HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING.)

The Stained Glass windows in the house have been updated with modern designs in an antique way.

The remodeled bathroom has a tiled step-in shower and an antique vanity with vessel sink.

The flagstone patio has a dining table for 4-6 and is nestled next to the seasonal flower garden. It's a great location for morning coffee, afternoon drinks, a cookout on the propane grill or just sitting around the fire pit making s’mores.

The creek side porch is the original porch for the house. The porch overlooks the lawn up to the stone wall. On that side of the house you can sometimes hear the running creek during season. The best part of this cottage is that one side of the house gets morning sun and the other afternoon sun – so it’s never too shaded or too sunny during your stay.

Granite Creek Cottage is in an older original neighborhood of Prescott. There is a mixture of residences and businesses nearby. There is an mobile home community to the south of the property, business located to the north of the property, and a mixture of craftsman cottages, stone buildings and large residences scattered throughout the neighborhood.

The Cottage was built directly on the east bank of Granite Creek. The original front of the house was facing the creek. The car entrance into the property is the side street which leads to the large parking area. Parking is a premium in downtown Prescott so we have added a fence to the property. We have found that we will often park our cars and not use them because of how close we are to the Square.

Another benefit of being on Granite Creek is the original nature trail that allows you to walk to the Square through nature. It is a lovely, flat, scenic trail that will take you through the heart of Prescott and is a great way to get the day started when you stay at Granite Creek Cottage.

Perfect place in the perfect location.

We loved staying at the Granite Creek Cottage. The location was great. Easy walking distance to Whiskey Row, restaurants, courthouse square and shopping. Very close to the Granite Creek Trail for a nice walk in the morning. This small beautiful cottage stayed nice and cool, even on the hottest days in June. Eric was very quick to respond when we needed something. We will certainly stay there again.

My family and I loved our stay at Granite Cottage

  • 5 of 5

It truly is a home away from home. Everything from clean and quaintly decorated bedrooms, to a kitchen stocked with everything to prepare home cooked meals. Great patio for entertaing and relaxing, BBQ grill and fire ring included, this place offers many amenities. All you need to bring is your clothing, tooth brush and a few personal toiletries because this place has nearly everything you need. Within walking distance to Wiskey Row night life and many shops as well as Resterants. This was our first experience with home away and we definitely will do this again.

Our experience was not the best

  • 2 of 5

I have mixed feelings regarding our stay. While the house itself has been renovated and is comfortable, the location was of concern. The house sits next to a run-down trailer park of which we were subject to cigarette smoke coming into the house, cussing, and yelling. We did not feel safe and even purchased a lock for the gate at the entrance to the property. We were also the victims of a skunk episode underneath the house and underneath the bedroom where we slept, which caused us to leave early. We had to throw away our special pillows and some clothing. We had to travel home to Washington State with the skunk odor in our car. The owner reimbursed us for two nights, which they should, but did not offer to reimburse for our loss, which is interesting because if we had damaged their property, we would have had to pay. We did not ask for any reimbursement , thinking that it should have been offered without asking when they were told of our loss. We spent many days at home, airing everything that we brought home. The experience has certainly left us hesitant about renting places in the future. We do feel sorry for the owners to have to deal with these two major problems: the trailer park next door and the skunk issue. We are not trying to cause any more problems for the owners by writing this review, but since we count on reviews to give us some insight into properties we are thinking of renting, we think it is very important to share our concerns and experiences.

This house had just about everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Large bath, well stocked kitchen and plenty of room in the house overall. Felt right at home the minute we got there.

Charming cottage

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed staying in this charming cottage. It is exactly as the pictures show. Very comfortable seating and sleeping. Everything is new or like new, yet in keeping with the era of the home. Large yard, easy walk to downtown. Kitchen supplies offer everything you would need.
