Catho Miners Cottage [pet friendly]

This 100+ year old miners cottage has been completely renovated and is complete with modern bathroom and updated kitchen. There is a slow combustion fireplace for winter and all the beds are fitted with electric blankets. The bedrooms have portable fans for summer and heaters for winter. The large yard is securely fenced, with indoor and outdoor dining.

It is surrounded by bush with just a short stroll to the beautiful Catherine Hill Bay Beach, of which 90% is dog friendly. The southern end of the beach is patrolled from October to April.

Just 1 hour from Hornsby and 5 km from Swansea and Lake Macquarie, it is an ideal getaway to where the bush meets the sea. There are numerous walks and BMX tracks through the surrounding bush, good fishing in both the ocean and Lake Macquarie and great swimming, snorkeling and surfing at the local beaches.

Bed linen, bath towels, donnas, and pillows are all provided. Due to health regulations, guests will need to supply their own food, including milk, as we are only able to provide sealed, single use sachets of tea, and coffee (instant and beans for the expresso machine).

Good location, cute cottage, plenty of room in the back yard for the dog to run around! Comfy bed, comfy couches indoors and outside, large kitchen, modern TV! Easy to unerstand instructions wifi! Thanks for the comfy stay!

Loved staying in this cosy cottage (doggo included). Was right in the middle to where we wanted to explore. Was clean and had everything we needed and the host was helpful and easy to communicate with. We will definitely come back for another stay.

Noisy road

Quaint cottage, lovely area it’s shame Flowers Road has become a major thoroughfare and extremely noisy throughout day and night. No overhead fans, air conditioning and no insect screens on doors or windows. Unable to get good nights sleep

Nice Little Cottage

Comfortable little cottage for a few relaxing days. Nice big fridge and a great coffee set up with grinder and machine.No issues with mosquitoes, the bedroom fans were great.Lovely big backyard, very peaceful out there as the road in front can be busy, but it was Christmas hols.Need to bring all kitchen supplies, oil etc but this was communicated.Only complaint was the outdoor laundry needed a good clean, fortunately we didn’t need to use it.Would happily stay again.

Weekend Away

Planned this getaway for my wife’s birthday weekend. Had an awesome time, fireplace was ideal for the cold nights we had. The pup loved the spacious backyard. Highly recommend if you want a nice quiet getaway. Very nice little cottage and also near the water and lookouts.

Perfect weekend with the dog!

We stayed here for 3 nights over the June long weekend, taking our Dalmatian for his well deserved break! The house was perfect. Very cute cottage with everything needed to enjoy a relaxing time. Comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen, a fireplace that we used all 3 nights, big fenced in backyard and an easy walk to the beautiful off leash beach. Also, only a 5 min drive to Swansea if you need to pick up anything. We were very lucky with the weather, but either way we’d highly recommend a stay here anytime!

Comfy miner’s cottage

Catho miner’s cottage has all the facilities you need. It is spacious with a large lounge and big backyard great for dogs which don’t try to escape under the fence. The coffee machine makes a fantastic cappuccino and is easy to use with beans provided. The kitchen is modern and well appointed with a large frig and the bathroom is a good size. We had a very comfortable stay with our two dogs.

Cosy and comfortable!

We had a lovely stay at Catho Miners Cottage. Fiona was great to deal with and the cottage is comfortable and well-positioned close to beaches and the pub! We will bring our dog next time!

Perfect little getaway.

The tranquillity and history of this area is awesome. We are avid surfers, bush walkers, cyclists and book readers. We love walking our dogs on the beach. This property enables us to do all of this. With only internet access, it is great for a digital detox.
