Rangataua railway cottage.
This is the original Rangataua stationmasters cottage. Well positioned with a lovely outlook of the stunning Rangataua forest with the snowy Ruapehu peaks of Tahurangi and Girdlestone peaking over. Just 5 minutes drive to the mountain road and Ohakune junction.
If you don’t mind the odd passing train, this is a perfect base for snow adventure , bush walks and mountain biking.

We all really enjoyed staying at this house. It had everything we wanted and it was in a clean and tidy state. A Lovely location. The trains added to the enjoyment of staying there.

Great location

Great location and cheap. Nice views of Ruapehu. Beds not very comfortable but overall fine considering how cheap it was.

We had a pleasant stay at the property — cozy rooms, well-organized overall, and the location couldn’t be better. Everything was set up nicely, and it felt welcoming and comfortable. However, we did find a few areas that could be improved: some of the kitchen utensils weren’t clean, the kitchen setup could use a bit more organisation, and there was no shower gel provided. With a little more attention to these details, it would make for an even better experience.

Dissappointed

There was rat poop on table and around microwave. Dirty towels and that also only 2 towels provided even adter paying u separtely only for linen and towels.. Had to leave 2 days before even aftr paying.

Sorry to hear that you were disappointed. We have a professional cleaner that checks the house before guests arrive , so a little surprised that there was an issues with cleanliness. We certainly have never had any issues with Rats entering the house or the property. Although I‘m aware that most properties have at one time or another had the occasional mouse problem .. perhaps you had a mouse ?
