About Linda

My husband, Marty & I have lived here 35 years. We are so lucky! A Whale Crossing Vacation Rental is a 'Special Place'. We call it a Hawaiian Experience... Come visit.

We look forward to meeting you.

Why Linda chose Hawi

It's the best.. very private in the country side. Only two houses on this road. Awesome ocean & sunset views. You can see Maui.

It's a Hawaiian Experience...

What makes this cottage unique

Very Historical...Walking distance to the ocean. Awesome Views!! Surrounded by 850 acres of Bishop Estate pasture land. Very Private...Whales give birth in the bay in front of our property.... Very Cool!! Some times the whales will wake us up at night flapping their tail and with their song. We have boogie boards, snorkel gear, beach chairs and even suntan lotion so come play.

Peaceful, sunny, delightful Hawi cottage

  • 5 of 5

My partner and I stayed in A Whale Crossing cottage for two weeks and found it delightful. The hosts--Linda and Rob--were friendly and helpful yet very careful of our privacy. This is a perfect place to relax, explore the north coast and Hawi, snorkel at a terrific spot (Mahukona) just down the road, walk the coast between there and Kapaa. If you enjoy sitting on the lanai and watching whales (every day), showering outdoors, and feeling the ocean breezes, this is just the vacation destination.

great quiet place to relax

  • 4 of 5

we spent 3 nights at the cottage in Hawi on December 2017 it was quiet, with views of the ocean from the bed and kitchen, We did not see any whales passing at that time, but I am sure there are plenty, this is a great place to escape from everything , yet you have the small Hawi town a mile or so away, there you have a few good restaurants, Mexican, Sushi etc , good ice cream stores and coffee shops, also there are art galleries and souvenir shops, but it is small town Hawaii. Linda the owner was great, she made us feel at home and was available with anything we needed. We went and came back every day to different places and rarely saw her. We got to meet some members of her family briefly and they were great people, nice, welcoming, warm. At the beginning we kind of were a little concern since the cottage is all surrounded by windows with no curtains or blinds so there is open all around, but in the other hand , there is nobody around, just you , the beautiful dogs that came to visit every day , the birds and the ocean. I think is a great place to write a book, escape from everything, hear the sounds of the wind and ocean and take trips to other places like Hapuna beach, etc. We like it . We would stay here again. Glorified camping

  • 2 of 5

Pretty location, great sunset down the road, cost did not equal quality of place. Grounds and accommodations need some TLC.

Would recommend if cost dropped by half or more

Owner's Response: Aloha, We have been in a major drought and it has not been as green and pretty as usual. Unfortunately we are not in charge of the weather, but we do have a new gardener. This is our first bad review in years. Mahalo,

Very private scenic property.

A whales crossing was perfect for us. It was very small, extremely private, quiet, easy living. The sunset each night became a tradition. I loved the outdoor shower.

Amazing Location

  • 5 of 5

Had a great weekend at A Whale Crossing. Rented the smaller beach shack for a friend and me, and was delighted with the accommodations. Great large yard, easy walk to a lava rock shoreline, wonderful outdoor shower and bath house. Would definitely come back again.

awsom experience

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at a whale crossing was an incredible experience. From your lanai you can see plenty of whales spouting and a few jumping even without binocs. In the morrning we were treated to an array of song birds. The dogs are very loving and fun to play with. Linda and Marty are wonderful host. If we ever we are fortunate to visit the big island again we will definitely stay here. Suzy and Trampus Travis. 01/20/2017
