Wonderful Home

  • 5 of 5

We have visited Durango many times over recent years and this home is one of our favorites. The location is great, giving you easy access to shopping and hiking. It is very comfortable, with a well equipped kitchen and a great steam shower. The views are beautiful; on this visit, we were even lucky enough to see a double rainbow . Ken is very prompt with replies and makes the entire process very easy. Thank you for sharing this lovely home; we look forward to our next visit to Durango.

Fantastic home, location, homeowner

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved the house. The location just north of town was a great compromise with very easy access into town as well as going north to the amazing hiking, jeep trails, Purgatory, Silverton, etc. Ken was VERY responsive and just a joy to deal with. If our family returns to Durango, we'll definitely be looking to stay here again. One more note, we were there during an unusually hot summer. Even with temps in the mid-90s during the day, by keeping the windows open in the evening, the house cooled down very well and around 10 am we'd seal them up and the house never really got too warm. About three days we went ahead and turned on one of the cooling fans downstairs, but overall, very easy to manage even in hot weather. Nothing beats Durango summer nights!

Large and accommodating

  • 4 of 5

I'm a Durango local but needed housing for my family who was attending their son's wedding. The spacious townhome accommodated a large number of people. A large, fully equipped kitchen helped immensely. Renters should know that most Durango properties do not have air conditioning. This is usually not a problem because temps get low during the night and keep things very cool. However, the townhome owners also provide two portable evaporative coolers and fans to help. Had all the amenities we needed including washer/dryer and wifi. A bonus is that a small market called PJs is only a mile away. It has a variety of gourmet items plus all the staples from canned goods to dairy to frozen foods. The adjacent golf course restaurant -- Swing -- is also first-class and has an amazing menu that almost beats the incredible views.

Excellent Stay!

  • 5 of 5

Our circumstances for staying at this property were unconventional, as we were in town to adopt our newborn daughter, and our arrival was very last minute. I was able to reach Ken directly by telephone, and after a brief discussion of our situation, he had us set up for the very next morning. Ken added a much needed human element to what would typically be a very transactional rental situation, and though I did not share it with him at the time, this level of kindness was very much needed. The property was beautiful, quiet, and meticulously kept. The first floor master was in the back of the home with guest bedrooms on the second floor in the front of the property, allowing us privacy to care for our new daughter, and room to host our new friends sharing the journey with us. The drive to downtown Durango was less than 15 minutes, and there was a grocery store less than a mile away which had everything we needed. The kitchen made preparing meals a pleasure and we found ourselves cooking in versus eating out, or ordering in which saved a lot of money. I would encourage anyone visiting the area to stay here if they appreciate both value and excellent amenities!

Atv vacation

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful home! Clean and everything you need. Being from Louisiana we are very hot natured! So it was an experience not having air conditioning! And I think our week there was your hottest week of the year! We were there to ride Atv trails, and boy did we.

Beautiful scenery. We would love to return, maybe cooler next time.

Home Away from Home

  • 4 of 5

The house provided a wonderful base for our excursions into the area as well as a comfortable place to meet and gather with family members from different places as well as friends from Durango. There was plenty of room to spread out yet remain close to one another. It was adequately stocked with dishes and cooking utensils.

Be aware of the following, just FYI:

The bed advertised as a queen is in fact a full, so it is going to be snug when you're used to a larger bed. This deserves a :( because it is a big deal and a factor when choosing accommodations for us.

There is no air conditioning so it is going to be warm inside during summer afternoons :( You'll be sleeping with the windows open at this time of year, which was actually pretty nice.

The garage will only hold one vehicle if you are in a truck or large SUV; two cars would probably fit fine. The parking area at the end of the cul-de-sac is handy so that's really not a big deal.

Would we stay there again? Absolutely!

Owner's Response: Aloha Mike, Thank you for your comments. I did not know it was not a queen size as we always thought it was in one of the guest bedrooms. Glad you enjoyed your stay and that you would consider staying with us again. All the best. Ken & Desiree Hayo
