Tranquil Island Cottage on the Rideau Waterway (Boat Required for Access)

Experience island life on Sand Lake, right in the heart of the Historic Rideau Waterway (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). This serene cottage is located on a large shared island, surrounded by 3 acres of mature pine trees and tons of privacy.

Sand Lake boasts miles of shoreline and crystal clear water for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and excellent fishing. With spectacular lake views from every room and 850 feet of waterfront to enjoy, this cottage is the perfect family getaway!

At night time, enjoy a campfire by the water listening to the enchanting sound of the loons. There is also a lit-up historic, covered picnic shelter along the water, perfect for sheltering from sun and rain.

The cottage is located:
40 minutes from Kingston
1.5 hours from Ottawa
3 hours from Toronto
10 minutes to town of Elgin

Additional amenities include: a spacious living room/dining room w/ vaulted ceilings & plenty of natural light, a fully equipped kitchen, complimentary basic pantry items & drinking water, towels and linens, plenty of indoor & outdoor seating, portable air-conditioning unit, ceiling and floor fans, heated by electric wall heaters. There is Wifi, a Smart TV, DVD player, stereo system, extra fold-up chairs and TV table trays, high chair and baby gate, BBQ w/ propane, three kayaks, one canoe & paddles, and a laundry line. A selection of DVDs, puzzles, board games, and books are also available.

Docks: The cottage includes a 16 foot dock (approximately 3.5-4 feet deep right off the dock) perfect for mooring most boats. Next to it is a smaller dock, ideal for personal watercraft (e.g., canoe, kayaks).

Parking/Dock Slip: The rental period will include one parking spot for a car + one for a boat trailer at the Sand Lake Marine. Additional parking can be purchased through the marina. Guests will also have use of a dock slip during their stay. Upon sending your booking request, please indicate your boat size for docking verification.
