We were quite surprised by your review, especially since we’ve hosted many guests through AirBnB who have given us and our property excellent ratings. Long Point is home to a rich ecosystem of flora and fauna and it is recognized as a UNESCO world biosphere reserve. This prestigious status is awarded to sites that foster the "harmonious integration of people and nature." Many people “flock” to Long Point for the birds since it is a migration route for many species. So yes, your review is accurate, there are mosquitos (and spiders). They are food for the birds. And, yes, there is bird poop sometimes because there are many birds. Every year, a green heron nests in the tree in our front yard, which many birders marvel at. Your review also indicated that the cottage was unkept and had not been used in months, which is untrue. We use the cottage regularly as it is our family cottage and it was throughly cleaned inside and out before you arrived. We were quite disappointed that you sprayed a white substance (sunscreen?) on several of our cottage windows and doors, which was a challenge to remove. We were also quite dismayed that you did not leave the cottage the way you found it. The board games were strewn all of the living room, every single toy was scattered around both the bunkie and the cottage, hand towels and throw blankets were left in a heap on the floor and a queen mattress had been removed from the bedroom and left on the living room floor. We suggest that if you are going to rent other properties on VRBO in the future that you consider leaving them the way you found them or people will not want to rent to you. We love spending time at our cottage and we love Long Point. We’re sorry you didn’t see the beauty that we do.
