This cabin was 2.2 miles down a dirt road. It was very quit and peaceful! Just be prepared to wash your car after your trip.

Family getaway
The property is a great getaway place. The cabin is up a very steep grade and could be intimidating for those unfamiliar with living and driving in the mountains. The road is 2 miles (unpaved and single lane for about a mile). That was unexpected, but only mildly inconvenient. The wifi is spotty at best, there is no ability to stream Netflix, so for catching up with family its a fantastic experience. Would stay again.

Isolated and Unplugged
The issues we had with this house were related to internet, cell and tv service. There is a smart TV and although it turns on and you can browse to a station, once selecting the station, it mostly just continuously buffers. This house has a selection of DVD's and a player but only one actually played. The website says limited WiFi but it takes so long to buffer even small tasks, I consider it has none. After arriving, I read their book and it said that cell service is spotty but you could get a signal somewhere out on the deck. I never could find that spot where I could make a call.
It advertises wonderful mountain views but the view is of the hillside some thousand feet away.
To be fair, the beds and living room furniture were comfortable but they didn't make up for the lack of other services. This house would be fine if someone wanted a place to totally unplug but that should be well documented in the advertisement.

Response from VrboOwner on 5 Sept, 2023
Hi Robert, we’re so glad you enjoyed the comfortable beds and living room furniture, but we’re sorry other aspects fell short of expectations. After sending your feedback to the owner, they’d like to share the following:
- The listing does state that WiFi is limited, but we are sorry if this caught you off guard. We use local, professional photographers to make sure that the listing photos correctly reflect the property. The view from the property is of Fork Mountain. Topographic maps list Fork Mountain as having an elevation of 2800ft. We encourage guests to carefully review the listing and its visuals to ensure it aligns with their preferences before making a booking.
- While the majority of our guests appreciate the opportunity to disconnect and enjoy our beautiful property in the Pisgah National Forest, we recognize that WiFi, cell signal, and TV access are crucial considerations for some. To better serve our guests, we are currently enhancing our listing and pre-stay information to provide even clearer details about these amenities, ensuring that all guests have a better understanding of what to expect.
- We're sorry that the DVD player was not functioning during your stay. We have taken care of the issue by replacing it with a working unit. We wish you had reached out to the Guest Contact during your stay if there were any issues you needed to be addressed. In case the cell signal didn't work for you, please remember that we have a landline available for your use to contact us as well.
We truly go above and beyond for our guests and are confident that future guests will have excellent stays!
We had a wonderful time! The cabin was well-appointed and perfect for our family of 5 and 2 dogs. We loved the remote feel, while still being 15 minutes from town when we needed to pick up essentials. Lots to see and do within a short drive (Linville Falls/Caverns/Winery and Mount Mitchell were out favorites.) Already talking about coming back!
My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It was very clean and had everything we needed. We loved the secluded feeling of the cabin yet we were still centrally located to all the activities we wanted to do—Mount Mitchell, Grandfather Mountain, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Chimney Rock, Sliding Rock, and of course, The Biltmore. We definitely would like to return and would highly recommend this mountain retreat. Great ice cream place at the bottom of Route 80.
Property was remote and peaceful. There had been a small snafu with the prior cleaning company, but was resolved with the owner and management company so I was okay with giving the 5 star.
