Welcome to Salty Pause by KEES Vacations!

Press pause and settle into beach life.

Just a four minute walk from the beach, Salty Pause is the perfect Outer Banks cottage for families, couples, and classic OBX getaways. This charming three bedroom, two bathroom home offers everything you need to slow down, relax, and enjoy life by the coast.

This comfortable single level home features a private Queen En Suite, plus two additional bedrooms including a Queen Bedroom and a Twin over Double Bunk Bedroom. A full hall bathroom serves the additional bedrooms, making the layout ideal for families and small groups.

Gather in the open living area to relax after a day at the beach, prepare meals in the fully equipped kitchen, or enjoy dinner and game nights around the dining table. Outside, the spacious sun deck offers comfortable seating for morning coffee or evening conversations, while the gas grill makes outdoor cooking a breeze. After a day in the sand, rinse off in the convenient outdoor shower before settling in for another relaxing Outer Banks evening. The large grassy yard provides even more space for family fun and outdoor games, and the in home washer and dryer make it easy to keep beach towels and swimsuits fresh throughout your stay.

Located on the charming East Lake Drive, Salty Pause puts you close to some of Kill Devil Hills' favorite local spots. Walk to S'wellsa Brewing, enjoy dinner at the popular Kill Devil Grill, grab a bite at Chilli Peppers Coastal Grill, or take a short bike ride to Avalon Pier for fishing, surfing, and family fun.

With the beach just around the corner and all the comforts of home, Salty Pause makes it easy to experience the laid back Outer Banks lifestyle. Whether you're planning a long vacation or a quick escape, you'll have everything you need for a memorable stay.

Weekly Discovery Memberships are $100 per person and can be purchased through the Village Beach Club website. KEES guests will receive an exclusive deal after booking your vacation rental for $25 off per person. Children 2 and under are free.

Parking passes are required for the Village Beach Club. Pricing is dynamic based on demand, with a maximum of $15 per day or $45 per week. The Village Beach Club pool is open from May 20 to October 1. The pool is open daily from 8:00am to 7:00pm with lap swimming available from 8:00am to 9:00am.

We enjoyed our stay Thanksgiving week. The property was clean and very comfortable. We had everything we needed for a great stay. The location was convenient as well.

Great location. Less than 10 minute walk to the beach (while hauling all the supplies we brought). Great location for northern sightseeing. Multiple bars, shops and restaurants in walking distance. Even more options writing a 5 min drive. Would definitely stay here again.

Perfect location for a getaway!

Great place for our family to getaway and enjoy the beach. So many beach amenities provided, I wish I'd thought to ask before bringing all we did. Centrally located to many restaurants and shops. Some great places were walkable distance.

Excellent small house for a family

This house was absolutely perfect for our family. We were able to fit stuff for two infants (rented from a partner vendor), the kitchen was well stocked and perfect, and everything was just wonderful. Great communication from the property manager as well.

Summer trip

Our family enjoyed our time at Salty Pause. Home was a quiet, clean, convenient location to start and end our days while on vacation. Home is a short walk to the beach. Was nice having items to be able to cook meals as desired.

Cute property

Nice, clean house close to the beach. We had a great stay and will definitely stay again. Communication with management was easy and friendly. House was comfortable and had everything we needed.

Amazing property and location!

We had such a great time at this rental property! The communication, cleanliness, location and space were all top notch! Unfortunately, we had bad weather for the weekend so we were unable to go to the close beach access but we made it up with going to local breweries, restaurants and shops. We definitely want to come back over the summer!

Fantastic spot! Definitely would stay here again if we come back to the area. Short walk to the beach, ice cream, a brewery, and several restaurants. Grocery store very close by. Loved the outdoor shower! House came with plenty of beach chairs and accessories. Outside trash was overflowing when we arrived but I contacted the rental company and someone came the next day to get it.

First vacation as a Party of 3

This place was a perfect little getaway for my husband, 9 month old and I for our first little vacation as a family. Super clean. Easy walk to beach, straight shot to public beach access. Unfortunately we probably won’t stay again because we usually bring our dogs and they don’t allow pets, otherwise we would definitely return. Only downside was no dishwasher which I didn’t realize until we got there. We never use the dishwasher on vacay, but with all the baby bottles I actually planned to this time (of course)! You won’t be disappointed staying here!

Beach House Review

Great location, close to the beach. Of note, it is also very close to the main street in OBX which I did not realize. Central location in Kill Devil Hills. The house could use additional supplies. One roll of toilet paper and one garbage bag for a 6 day stay is not acceptable. Also, the kitchen does not have a dishwasher and lacks even salt and pepper. A beach rental should have other amenities such as coolers, a wagon, umbrella, sand toys etc. But, the location is great. The home was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay but would have loved some extra amenities.

Exceeded our expectations in every way!

We were first-time visitors to the OBX and we are so glad we chose Salty Pause for our stay! Kees made our check-in and check-out a breeze. The home was clean, cozy, and just the right size for our family of 4. Plenty of towels, pillows and bedding were provided. Each bedroom had a TV, which was nice when our teens needed a little downtime and space. We spent much time on the deck and in the hammock underneath in the afternoons and evenings. The neighborhood was quiet, and we found it easy to relax out there. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to make meals. We brought our own, but were surprised to find many beach supplies in the closet downstairs. The location is amazing! Many restaurants and shops within walking distance, or a short drive. Public beach access was right at the end of the street. This place truly exceeded our expectations in every way and will be at the top of our list when planning our next vacay!

Conveniently located to visit many areas of OBX and to the closest beach access. The sand at the beach access is hard to pull a wagon through though, so I wish we would have just carried our beach things. We had to wash the sheets and bedding in the bunk room upon arrival, because it looked like it had a good bit of dog hair on it. I also cleaned the floor when we got there due to some hair balls and dust bunnies. Just in case you don't read the amenities well, there is no dishwasher and the drying rack is very small. We also did not see any extra trash bags, which we found extremely unusual. We enjoyed the hammock swing under the house and that the porch area was shady in the afternoon, and the queen beds were comfortable. The water pressure was very good in the showers, and we were glad the house had an outdoor shower when we returned from the beach.
