Lao-Zen is the best combination of luxurious surroundings, safety, onsite amenities, great location to access offsite entertainment options and amazing affordability!

Lao-Zen is professionally designed and decorated to be the perfect retreat - relaxing and inviting, spacious yet intimate. The condo is outfitted with internet so you can stay as connected as you like, a 55" flat screen smart TV to watch movies, and a bluetooth stereo to enjoy listening to your music. The sofa was selected for its lounging comfort and option to pull out for sleeping. The kitchen is fully equipped with high quality appliances, pots, dishes and utensils if you wish to prepare your own meals to enjoy on the terrace dining table.

The terrace is amazing - with both a dining table for four as well as a lounge area to enjoy reading a book with a hot coffee or cold margarita. The terrace is fully screened in so you can enjoy meals drinks or longing with a good book without any bugs to worry about. The terrace overlooks the 5th green of the stunning Bahia Principe golf course which offers the entertainment of watching golfers try to sink their putts. Rather than facing another building or parking lot, you are facing nature allowing you to fully relax. The colorful songbirds that land in the nearby tree canopy offer natural music to the ears.

The terrace is on the second floor - that means there are no jungle creatures and way less insects than the ground floor. Because the terrace is covered, it isn't as hot as the penthouse rooftops, so it can be enjoyed on the sunniest days or even on a rainy day. In addition, full sized screen doors allow you to leave the terrace doors open to enjoy the fresh air indoors without any worries about uninvited visitors.

Essential to a great vacation is an amazing bed. To rest in Lao-Zen, retreat to the beautifully decorated bedroom with a comfortable king size bed with high quality bedding. The bedroom walls slide in order to be closed for extra privacy. There are blackout blinds on the window for those who like to sleep late and a safe for your valuables and electronics (large enough for your laptop and several other devices). The stylish ensuite bathroom has a large shower that never runs out of hot water due to the on-demand hot water heater along with the softest fluffiest towels. Here for a longer stay? No problem with the washer and dryer unit to do your laundry. There is even a drying rack for more delicate items.

When it's time to cool down, head over to one of the pools. The pool is just off the 4th hole golf fairway with lots of trees and birds. There are lots of pool loungers and umbrellas and a BBQ grill so you can grill up some fresh fish for lunch. There are plenty of tables for socializing and meeting people from around the world.

If you want to go "all inclusive" for the day - no problem! Just purchase a day pass, hop on the free resort shuttle and enjoy all the amenities of the five star Bahia Principe resort. Pools, restaurants, shows and the fabulous beaches, and when you're done at the resort, come back to your beautiful relaxing condo.

Lao-Zen is located in the Tao Inspired Living community within the Bahia Principe Resort Property and is a great safe location (double gated) to enjoy all that the Mayan Rivieria offers. Tao is right in the middle of the Mayan Riviera near Akumal with Playa del Carmen 22 miles North and Tulum 15 miles South.

A rental car is recommended to fully enjoy all the surrounding attractions of the area.

Beautiful TAO retreat in the jungle

Fantastic place to sit back, relax, enjoy the sounds of the jungle. Set your own pace to see the wonderful sites around you, then enjoy the comforts of home. Not too far from beach and a five minute walk to a beautiful infinity pool. Friendly people to visit by the pool! Highly recommended!

Long stay heaven

We spent one month and enjoyed our stay. Beautiful environment, friendly and helpful people around the complex. Bed was very comfortable and by not closing the movable walls we could look straight from our bed out to the trees and skies. Screened in patio added floor space and we only closed the sliding glass doors when there was a bad rain storm. Patio furniture is also very comfortable. High quality cooking utensils and equipment much appreciated. Having a washer and dryer in the condo was a bonus. All the condos are equipped with small water heaters so showering is in and out or a bit refreshing. Long hot showers are not ideal in the heat and humidity we experienced. Marcus was readily available for info and help. We were able to use the shuttles to travel and visit all four Bahia hotels. However when we had a car for a few days we were only admitted to Sian Ka’an and Tulum. Security everywhere The shuttle would drop us off at the highway where we easily and quickly could take the “collectivo” or local bus to go to surrounding towns like Tulum, Akumal, Playa del Carmen etc. It costs very little which is good because taxis are definitely overpriced. Great grocery store called Chadrieu there. Anything you need can be obtained. We enjoyed the flexibility of activities and places to visit. Having some physical limitations kept us closer to the condo but I would highly recommend this location whether it be couples or families with children. Thanks Marcus and family. Hope to be back in the near future.

I loved my stay at Marcus' condo. I felt safe, secure, and comfortable. The condo is professionally decorated and so much nicer than others I've seen. The sounds of nature and the solitude were a big plus. Overall I would definitely stay here again.

Luxurious, peaceful retreat

Communication with Marc was prompt and easy. The condo, Tao residences pools, wellness center, and surroundings were just as beautiful as in the pictures . We loved having use of the Bahia Principe Resorts and enjoyed the daily 9pm live shows at Sian Kaan. The beach club is very private and has a fantastic location on the beach. You can buy drinks and food there. Everything we tried was really good and very reasonably priced. We cooked simple meals and found everything we needed to do so in the kitchen. Soriana off of the main highway in Playa del Carmen was the best supermarket for grocery shopping, but Chedraui off of the main highway in Puerto Aventuras is a great option too, and it is only 15 -20 minutes north of the condo. We had a car rental, which we feel is a must to really enjoy your stay, and used it to visit some of the numerous wonderful places you find in the area. We can’t wait to go back soon!

Lovely loft in Tao

My husband and I just returned from a 9 night stay in this lovely Tao loft. It is immaculately appointed with beautiful, comfortable furniture both inside and out and has everything you could ever need or want for your vacation, from beach towels and mats to umbrellas and beach chairs. And when we weren’t out enjoying the beautiful golf course ourselves, we enjoyed eating out on the lanai and watching golfers putt on the 5th green. While the owner provided us with a lot of great information on things to do in the surrounding area, we opted to spend nearly every afternoon lounging poolside with a cocktail and enjoying the serenity of the Tao community. It was so peaceful to sit amongst the lush greenery that envelops the complex and affords residents the sounds of all of the local birds. This was our first trip to the Akumal area and we could not have been happier with our choice of accommodations.

Don’t hesitate.... book now. This place is as good as it gets! It was beautifully decorated and very comfortable to boot. There was nothing lacking for our stay. Marcus had the kitchen stocked with everything you will need. The pictures you see on VRBO are accurate. That is how the place looks. The Tao development has so many amenities from pools, a breakfast spot, well stocked gym and even lap pools. What a treat for a swimmer. There is a beautiful golf course next door and a brand new Beach Club right on the ocean. It was beautiful. It has a gorgeous view, a pool and an area where one can sit and have a meal or a drink. It is brand new and I expect it will be a welcome addition for the residents. There is a shuttle that runs from the Wellness Centre to the beach. We rented a car and we were glad we did but if you plan to just use the facilities inTao you really don’t need one. We have left with a very good feeling about this loft. We have rented numerous places from Mexico to many countries in Europe. This place is one of the top 2 or 3 we have seen. Thank-you Marcus.

A wonderful Riveria Maya getaway

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Modern, clean, well-kept, and stocked with everything we needed for our long weekend - from cooler and towels for the beach (umbrella and chairs available too) to an iron and ironing board to prepare for the wedding that was the reason for our stay. Studio layout with a bedroom area that can be converted into its own room with retractable walls. Owner Marcus provided prompt and helpful guidance in advance, and local property manager Allianca was courteous and insightful as well. Couple of tips if you haven't been to the area before: Taxis are plentiful for getting to the nearby town of Akumal and other areas, and there are trolleys that will take you around the relatively large Bahia Principe property that the condo is part of, but we found renting a car to be highly beneficial from a mobility standpoint. Also, as is common throughout Mexico, a match or lighter is necessary to light the oven.

The condo was exactly as represented. It felt safe and cozy with a lovely view of the golf course

We had a wonderful time. The condo was clean with no musty smell. The property manager met us personally and explained how to operate the appliances. There was enough products stocked when we first arrived to make our stay comfortable so we didn't have to run to the market immediately. The appliances we used were in good working order. The furniture and the bed was comfortable. The only thing that I would criticize is that we had trouble with the cable. We couldn't get it to work, but we could get Netflix. I am not big on technology, but I did get a smartphone about a week before we left and was still learning when we left for vacation. I tried to call out and found that there was no network. That may be on my part, my phone may not have had the reach. To call, we had to go to the golf club. I did get my email. I have learned that cable companies here in general are not the same as in the states. Overall, we had a real nice time and would return without a problem. Thank you Marcus!

Amazing location, clean beautifully decorated condo, and a very memorable experience

My husband has visited different parts of Mexico previously. However, this was the first trip to Mexico for our 4-year old daughter and I. Luckily, we ended up at this beautiful condo on a golf course across from Bahia Principe resort. We had full access to the resort facilities and could even use the restaurants if we chose to buy the tickets. However, I really liked the golf course area much more as it is far less crowded with lots of shades and great views to relax and enjoy your day. If you're a parent to a young child you would appreciate the beautiful and clean swimming pool just a few steps away from the condo with super clean washrooms :-) Next to the swimming pool, there is a brand new barbeque and we enjoyed preparing a few suppers (check out Chedraui supermarket in Tulum or the one near Puerto Aventuras for groceries). We stayed at Tao for 9 nights. The condo has everything you would need for your family, so it was pretty much like a home away from home for us. It's super comfy and decorated beautifully. We enjoyed our morning breakfasts on the deck watching the trees and birds while planning for our daily excursions. (Interesting maps and brochures are well stocked inside the condo) I would say the best feature of Tao is its location. It's just a short drive to Tulum with its beautiful beaches if you're going south. Going north, we could be at Puerto Aventuras in less than 10 minutes for an ice-cream while watching the dolphins and the sea lions. We definitely recommend having lunch at the La Buena Vida restaurant in Akumal, which is just 5 minutes from the condo. There is plenty to do and lots to see within walking distances or short drives; so, even though we had planned our days carefully to take the maximum advantage of this great location, we needed more time at the end of our vacation to check out everything :-) We truly enjoyed our stay at the condo, loved the location, and had lots of fun with so many adventures. Our daughter found some friends in her age group at Tao for play dates. Just by fluke, we happened to have the best vacation at Tao, and now we don't think we could do it any other way. We will be certainly back for more adventures and to complete all our plans :-) Thank you Marcus for being so helpful and for showing us this amazing way of discovering Riviera Maya. It was a memorable vacation!

Lovely Mexican Holiday

Two of us had the pleasure of spending 11 days in this lovely condo. It was recently constructed so felt more like entering a show home then a rental properly. Some comments on our stay: Contact and Questions: Marcus was great to deal with, responding to all our questions promptly and putting our minds at ease that we were making a good choice for our Mexican stay. At the time of our booking there were no posted reviews so it was our conversations with Marcus that sealed the deal. Condo: As mentioned it’s practically brand new and has everything you would expect. We really enjoyed the good internet connection, surprising temperature comfort even when air conditioning was off and the view from the balcony ... it was great for photographing birds. I got some great shots of painted buntings, pygmy owls and oriels ... just to name a few. Other: The rental comes with access to resorts that surround the property. They were gorgeous but not something we took advantage of. We instead stuck to the Tao complex pool and ventured out to less touristy areas for beach time and to explore. Recommendations: In case you are a birder like me the golf cart paths were very productive in the morning. Best before 9 and watch out for golfers. I’m sure you could do it without a rental car but it’s by far your best option. A lot of bad reviews online but our rental experience was problem free Xel ha if very close and made for a very fun day ... great food and snorkeling We found the ruins at Tulum way too crowded, enjoyed our trip to Coba (ruins and cenotes) a lot more. Easy to do on your own. Mexico Kan Tours in Tulum were great for the tours we did. Mornings are the best time to do your exploring ... temperatures are cooler and if you arrive at things right at opening you can avoid the crowds from the tours. Thanks Marcus, Brenda and I would be thrilled if a chance comes for us to once again enjoy your lovely property.

Awesome condo - total 5 star experience

I stayed here with my son for a week in December and I could not imagine a better time. WOW what a setting! The condo is brand new, beautiful, quiet and clean. The deck is spacious and we had fun watching the golfers go by in the morning. The condo is well equipped with everything you could possibly think of to cook your own meals and there are extras like coolers and beach towels if you are going out to the beach. This was the perfect base as it is 1/2 way between Tulum and Playa Del Carmen. There are multiple awesome beaches very close to the condo. I really enjoyed not having to save a chair at the pool as is the usual experience at the large resorts. I was always able to get a chair, any time of day. Comfortable bed for a good nights sleep to recharge for the next day. We did not try the all inclusive option at the resort but it's definitely a nice option if you want resort food. The owner and property manager were excellent and very helpful and other guests were nice and friendly as well. Will definitely return to this place, definitely a 5 star gem.

Perfect paradise lifestyle

What an incredible location and lifestyle. Tranquil, priavte and peaceful overlooking the 5th green of a stunning golf course yet a screening of tress made us invisible to the golfers who passed below as we sipped our coffee or margaritas. The resident lifestyle with quiet pools and paths along the golf course trumps the loud resort pool experiences, yet we could still enjoy a palapa on the beach at the luxury bahia resort when we wanted some sand, beach volleyball and sea breeze. Such a great location close to akumel, a hotspot for snorkelling with turtles and authentic restaurants, plus its an easy drive to Coba and Tulum and other ancient ruins in the area. Marcus and the concierge allianca both gave us incredible recommendations on restaurants and hidden gems, which made our trip perfect!, The loft is everything we could want, elegant and super comfortable (including the mattress!) with great sound system and wifi. Precisely as pictured and described, and spotlessly clean. This made it easy to imagine what it would be like living the dream every day as retirees years from now. Some minor construction sounds could be heard daytime as the rest of this gorgeous complex gets built. Hardly a big issue since we were out adventuring most days and since the loft itself is so private. We will definitely return again and again.

The condo had everything we could ask for in such a safe community.

The condo at Lao is very close to Akumal and all the restaurants and beach there. We stayed for 6 nights and felt like there was so much to do. While we stayed we also to an easy drive to Playa Del Carmen and Tulum. The condo is beautifully decorated and so comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed. There were little extras that helped too, beach towels and a cooler for our day trips. The double gated community felt very safe and was quiet.

We found our dream getaway with the Lao-zen loft, in the Tao Inspired Living community, on the Mayan Riviera.

Tao is a stunningly beautiful community that has everything going for it. The community is nestled in the gorgeously landscaped Bahia Principe golf course and residence property. It's set up for 24 hour safety as visitors must pass through the Bahia Principe security gate as well as the Tao community security gate. It has access to numerous swimming pools, beaches, restaurants, and Mayan riviera attractions - if you want something fun to do, you can find it nearby. Alternatively if you want to relax, bird watch and attend yoga or exercise classes everyday, you don't even need to leave the Tao community. Spa services are also available to ensure you have every opportunity to enjoy your vacation.

Tao owners and guests can use the amenities of the adjacent 5 star Bahia Principe resort for free.
