About this property
Piccabean Cottage - Palmwoods Eco Escape
Piccabean Cottage is a fully self-contained Cottage nestled on the edge of the rainforest. There are 15 acres in which to wander and relax. This Cottage is the larger of our two cottages and accommodates up to 4 guests with a queen bed and a sofa bed that sleeps one adult or two children. The kitchen/dining area features a breeze through, giving the impressions of being outdoors, with the security of insect screens, and cafe style blinds in winter.
The bathroom or “Loo with a view” is in a separate building a few steps away, elevated and also screened so that you can watch the birds and wildlife from your vantage point. Please note we have composting toilets. Full kitchen facilities allow you to self-cater for all meals. Coffee and tea are provided. There is a common area in which you can enjoy the fireplace, barbecue or perhaps cook your own pizzas in the wood fired pizza oven (additional $25 for firewood).
Piccabean Cottage has an eco-friendly design, constructed with the sun, wind, rain and the seasons in mind which minimises the need for power (mostly solar), heating, and cooling. Many sustainable and reclaimed materials have also been incorporated in the construction. An abundance of native animals call Palmwoods Eco Escape home. In particular, you are sure to enjoy the birdlife. We also have happy chickens.
There is a second Cottage on the property - Turmeric Cottage - for those who might be travelling with friends or family. Guests are welcome to explore much of the 15acre property. Surfaces are uneven and may be slippery. Walking shoes are encouraged.
There is lots to see and do on the Sunshine Coast. In Palmwoods there are several local eateries including the popular Rick's Garage, repurposed as an American 50's diner, with big burgers and a whiskey bar upstairs. On a Thursday night and weekend lunch you'll often see a surprising array of classic cars and bikes. It is only a short drive to Montville, Maleny and the famous Eumundi Markets. Palmwoods Eco Escape is 3.8km from Palmwoods Railway Station and 24km from Sunshine Coast airport. A local bus terminates 1km away, with two daily services, Monday to Friday. Other bus routes service the bus stop near the railway station.
Please note that children 10 years or older are welcome to stay on the property.

A lovely little private cottage tucked away in palmwoods. The place was clean, cozy and very private. I received fresh eggs on arrival and Karleen (the owner) was very welcoming. I really enjoyed my stay and would love to come back again.
We had an incredible stay at the palmwoods Eco Escape. Our cabin was very clean and comfortable with a beautiful outlook into the rainforest. I don't think the photos do the place justice as it exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend staying here.

Gorgeous cottage nestled in a tranquil, leafy location. Unique outdoor bathroom. Friendly hosts. We loved our stay and wish we could’ve stayed for longer.
This cottage provided for the perfect weekend relaxing getaway. It's position amoungst the forest provides for a real close up experience. It's totally private too with its location from other dwellings on the property. Couldn't fault this for anything and in summary extremely well priced too when comparing to other options.

If you're after a relaxing, private & peaceful getaway then you won't do much better than Piccabean Cottage, which sits on private property in a secluded spot at the edge of a small rainforest area, opening into larger open ground.
The setting is lush & natural, the cottage is fully kitted out with all necessary conveniences, the hosts Karleen and Dave are helpful & welcoming, and the location is far enough away from Palmwoods to be private, but close enough to be convenient. No complaints at all - will definitely be staying here again when revisiting the area.

Our family of 4 had a fabulous relaxing 3 day break here over Easter. We were pleasantly surprised by the generous size of the cottage - the photos just didn’t do justice to how lovely it is. Everything you need is there including comfy beds and linen; board games; music and a verandah with the most stunning rainforest outlook. Karleen was such a wonderful host who greeted us with fresh eggs from her free range hens. The property is a well maintained private oasis and we look forward to coming back for another escape.
Beautiful recycling of sash windows and other hardwoods in the buildings. someone with skill and vision knew what and how to integrate each of the rooms with the gardens from various perspectives. Very private. Everything you could want in a short stay. Very grateful for the 1/2 dozen eggs from the chickens living in heaven! We will be back. Thanks
From being met by the owner at her fence, to farm fresh eggs and milk in the fridge, everything about our stay was excellent!
Being surrounded by rainforest and birdsong made for a relaxing stay.
Loved that everything was a little bit kinder to the earth ~
We had a truly wonderful time, felt refreshed and rebooted ~ sometimes all its takes is to simplify things, to really appreciate all we have to be grateful for.
Much gratitude also to our gracious hosts, felt very welcomed to their property, but also felt our time was spent in a little patch of secluded paradise.
Would totally recommend:)
We enjoyed our retreat amongst the greenery, listening to the birds. A midnight storm made for an adventure to the loo with the kids in the middle of the night!
