About the property

Sleeps 8+: 3 bedrooms + small guest rm, 2.5 bath, 2 decks, outdoor shower

This home has a spectacular location: Cahoon Hollow ocean beach is under two miles and just a few minutes away by car or a short (and beautiful) bike ride. Hatch's market and 'downtown' Wellfleet is just a 5 minute drive. From the house, you can easily walk to PJs for the Cape's best lobster rolls and clam chowder. Best of all, the access trail to Dyer Pond is literally next to the house. This is a short, wooded trail that leads to isolated (no car access!) Dyer Pond -- filled by clean rain water, with a lovely sandy bottom, it is a joy for swimming, playing in the shallows, or tranquil reading.

The home easily accommodates 2 families. It is a tri level home, with open main level consisting of a family room, kitchen, dining room, powder room, and two large decks. The home sits in the national forest so the view from the decks is lovely throughout the day, and both decks are equipped with table and chairs for eating out. The rear deck has an older gas grill and Weber barbecue as well. The kitchen includes all typical appliances and is well furnished for cooking.

The upper level has two bedrooms and a shared full bathroom (with bath). The master has 1 queen bed and the smaller bedroom has 2 twin beds. In addition, there is a a small alcove that overlooks the main living area that includes a couch and TV for a cozy retreat. This couch converts to a queen bed for additional week-end over-flow guests. The lower level consists of a very large open bedroom with a double and twin beds. This room opens to the outside via a large sliding door. There is a full bath downstairs (shower only) and a smaller, enclosed utility room/sleeping area with trundle bed (this best for the young or young at heart).

The house is outfitted with toys and games for kids and adults, as well as other baby / child equipment (pack n' play, highchair). There is also beach gear for renter's use, including umbrellas, beach chairs, boogie boards, etc. Finally, the house is equipped with air conditioning (not window units) and heat.

Perfect location, well-equipeed house

  • 5 of 5

This house is close to everything in Wellfleet, but quiet since it is well off the main thoroughfare. With three floors, there was great privacy for various family members; we never heard an infant on the lowest level cry in the night!

The house is fully loaded with beach/pond equipment and enough dishes for a large group. A large refrigerator, fully equipped kitchen, 2 BBQs (gas AND charcoal), a huge indoor dining table, and two decks w/tables made mealtimes easy.

With a large group, having 3 toilets and 3 showers was great! The outdoor shower was not just a mounted outdoor hose, but enclosed for privacy with hot water, too.

The interior of this house is light and airy, even on cloudy/rainy days since there are windows everywhere and a skylight in the upstairs loft where the always-present natural light was perfect for reading and a needlework project I had going.

This owner provides trash pick-up twice a week so there was no potential for overflowing trash that can occur when a large family gathers. Wi-fi and cable also worked flawlessly. We had one maintenance question and the owner responded instantly and a knowledgeable handy-man appeared and addressed our unfounded concern promptly.

Overall, this is a well-maintained house in an upscale neighborhood of Wellfleet.

Lovely home nestled in the woods

  • 4 of 5

Lovely, classic cape setting, home is nicely kept and supplied, great location. Walk to Dyer Pond is a good long stroll but worth the walk. Should note that the downstairs room with the queen bed must be walked through to get to the basement room with trundle. Both nice rooms but thus limited privacy depending on your needs.

Convenient and comfortable family-friendly home

  • 5 of 5

We spent a relaxing week here over Labor Day and found it to be a great base. We did some exploring (the Audubon sanctuary is a ten-minute drive away), but mostly spent our days choosing between bayside and oceanside beaches with trips to the pond as well. Many beaches and Wellfleet Main street would be easy to get to by cycle, as the house the close enough to plenty of attractions but situated in a quiet spot well suited to unwinding and watching wild turkeys roam the driveway(!)

The house is well equipped to a high standard with plenty of space indoors and out, and we especially appreciated things like the beach chairs and umbrella, body boards, cooler, pack n play and toys that meant we didn't have to come too loaded down with stuff. The owner was very easy to contact and responsive to all our questions, and we would highly recommend the house.

Looking forward to our next stay!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a wonderful week in this lovely, very comfortable home. Nothing better or more cherished than peaceful swims in Dyer Pond after a short walk through the woods. And a treat to have PJs within walking distance, too! Easy access to ocean beaches. There are many good restaurant options on the Cape, but we cooked, including on the grill, and enjoyed several meals on the deck. The house has nice light, nooks for reading, room to spread out, and just felt great. The owner was a delight to deal with, communicating clearly before, during, and after our stay and attending swiftly to a couple of minor issues. My only regret is that we haven't been able to return for a couple of years!

Tri-level house, sleeps 8, faces National Seashore forest. It has 3 bedrooms plus small guest room, 2.5 bath, two decks, outdoor shower. Two minute drive to world famous white sandy ocean beaches. Sole trail to secluded Dyer Pond leaves from the property; NYTimes said Wellfleet’s freshwater kettle ponds have “no equal” and “Dyer Pond is the prince of ponds.” The Dyer Pond access trail is literally part of the property, though not visible from the attractive decks. You can continue through the forest ten minutes past Dyer Pond to walk to Great Pond.
