Thank you for your input! We are constrained by the historic nature of the home, “1892 Historic Dakota Property” so we can’t make remodels to the original layout of the walk through bedrooms upstairs-we are trying to keep its period integrity in place. The downstairs bedroom, we deliberated and talked with folks if they would rather have a queen size comfy bed or just a full…we opted for the queen since people aren’t living there forever and thought that was a better option for a short term stay. The side door to the patio has a locking mechanism BUT the handle on the INSIDE of the house will always turn, the outside would be locked but we will double check. As for the living room furniture we haven’t heard things were uncomfortable but everyone is different. I would love your ideas on how we could make the front room, the parlor, more usable and have less “stuff”….and by “stuff” you mean the jukebox, pinball machine and other arcade game along with a game table and leather couch….this was meant to work together as the game room for you know, fun! The irony is many folks have loved this room and has been a highlight for their stay, it has been a great extra but again everyone is different. Thank You!

I agree, 3 days is never long enough in The Black Hills! We are glad you had a great time connecting as family in the game room...you never know how family competition is going to go. I think we can adjust the volume on the arcade games or they do have individual on/off buttons. Thanks for staying! Come again!!

Snow storms in the spring are hard to predict, thankfully it was all gone by your arrival. We are sorry we cannot accept cancelations the week of arrival which is why we encourage travel insurance. We have been anticipating your review and are sorry we could not cancel. As for the water, we are on city water and they constantly monitor the supply but we are also in a very mineral rich area in the hills. The black flies are about the only pest the Black Hills has and thankfully they don't bite (moths in the upper elevation). We do make every effort to keep the place kept and clean and did not receive any communication from you at all regarding your discontent during your stay and can't help but wonder if your review may have been a bit skewed. In any event, we wish you well!
