50+ acres, Private Cove Dock on Fontana Lake, Loaded fishing pond, Tsali, NOC
This is a unique property for those who really want to get away from it all and who enjoy an active lifestyle in the great outdoors. Extremely private, this vacation home is nestled on 50+ acres of property that backs up to thousands of acres in the Nantahala Forest.
A 5 minute walk down the driveway next to our private and well stocked (catch and release) pond and then across a dirt road (we are the last house on the road) leads to a private cove and dock on the jewel of the Smokies, Fontana Lake.
Jump off your own private dock into 25' of the purest, cleanest water imaginable. 85 degrees all summer long. A kayak and canoe is provided. Fish, swim or just relax next to the water.
The Main cabin has three bedrooms, a master bedroom with a King bed. A brand new addition features a downstairs bedroom with a queen bed and an upstairs bedroom with two bunk beds, each bunk bed has a queen bed on the bottom and a twin bed on the top. A family can pack some people in or two couples with kids could share.
There is also a separate, tiny cabin with a deck that has a twin bed. It is a short walk from the Tiny cabin to the 800 square foot covered porch nestled on the side of a hill. It's really a place that encourages outdoor living and we spend 90% of our time on the porch, with three ceiling fans, when not playing in the lake or on the property.
The porch (outside living room) has a massive stone fireplace, surrounded by couches. You will love roasting marshmallows by the fire every night.
The porch also features a bathroom and an instant hot water shower. So the tiny cabin inhabitants don't need to go into the main house when showering or using the facilities. The shower has a little window overlooking the stream that runs next to the porch in the side yard. Our girls love to pan for gold in the stream for hours. A grill, both gas and charcoal is provided.
Walking up the property, there are several trails that lead to the top of the ridge where the old forest road runs for miles. If you're up for a leisurely 3 mile hike (once at the top) you can travel it to the end and you will be in the cove where they shot the Jody Foster movie, "Nell".
If you love to fly fish, it does not get better than this! Native Browns a short boat ride away.
This is a great place for outdoor adventurers. Some of the best mountain biking in the world is a 15 minute drive away at Tsali, where there are miles of trails that sweep along remote coves of Fontana lake.
The Nantahala Outdoor Recreation center is only 15-20 minutes away where you can go for lunch, a beer, or take a guided white water rafting or kayaking trip.
Wintertime enthusiasts: While the lake is too low to use, Beech Mountain is only 45 minutes away, fun NC skiing day or night.
We are also only 25 minutes from beautiful Bryson city, often voted the prettiest mountain town in America. There is so much to do in town, from browsing quaint little antique shops to riding the valleys and river on the old Bryson train.
Bikers are welcome, but we will not rent to large groups who are just here to party. The Tail of Dragon starts right outside our road, the best motorcycling on the East Coast.
We are also very close (10-15) minutes from Fontana Village where you can play frisbee golf, get an ice cream, enjoy one of their restaurants, or rent a boat for the day.

About Chelsea Turner
We live in South Florida and love the Smoky Mountains. This is our second year renting it. We love this property, it has been a dream for us to own such a place. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Chelsea Turner purchased this Cabin in 2013
Why Chelsea Turner chose Robbinsville
It is very unlikely you will find anything like this. 50+ acres with trails, epic hiking on the ridge through Nantahala, a private cove and dock just a short walk away, a fully stocked fishing pond and an amazing, huge porch with a massive stone fireplace to keep everyone enjoying the outdoors until bedtime.
What makes this Cabin unique
So private. Yet we still have Internet! Cell coverage is not great, but there is a landline phone in the house. Near Tsali, the NOC, the Appalachian Trail, Bryson City and Fontana Village.

Had a wonderful time!!
We were able to spend some wonderful family time with children and grandchildren. The property offers so may activities. We enjoyed fishing, hiking, boating. We paned for gold and did some target plinking and cross bow. Sat around the fire and played games. While we could have taken many excursions to nearby attractions we enjoyed ourselfs so much right where we were at.
This is an awesome cabin rental.
I would stay again. My grandfather in-law passed away so I took my wife along with her grandmother and mother away to this cabin for a getaway. We originally wanted to stay in Gatlingburg to spread the ashes, however there were no cabins anywhere in TN in the short time and proximity to Christmas we had. This cabin is only an hour and fifteen to Gatlinburg. So this was basically the only option we had and i'm glad it worked out that way. The cabin is pretty secluded so it was incredibly peaceful with many wilderness options. Plus all the reviews i read were awesome, the only problem i had is the reviews i was reading were from guests who stayed in summer months. I decided to stay anyway. Chelsea is the contact person for this property and i must say i had many questions along the way and she always answered them within the hour i had the question. Most other rental managers take at least 24 hours to get a response. Anyway we had an awesome time, even though we didn't get to try the zip line that runs from the deck to the lake, due to frozen water. Next time we will stay during the summer! Again thank you Chelsea! we had a great time.
Had a great time. Really enjoyed fishing in the pond. The fish loved to tease. The very best part was the quiet.
I am so glad I stumbled upon this listing! This place was everything I wanted it to be and more.
We stayed over the 4th of July holiday week. You'd expect any lake as beautiful as this - especially being near a national park - to be packed with tourists. NOPE. It felt like our own private paradise. We saw a total of maybe 20 boats the entire week, which is great when you're a paddleboarder. The water is crystal clear, warm but refreshing, and there is so much of it to explore. There's a dock if you have a boat, but you should be prepared to put it in at another part of the lake. We brought our small fishing boat, 6 paddleboards and a kayak. We carried the paddleboards and kayak down to the dock (its down a steep hill at the end of the driveway), but put the boat in at Cable Cove and drove it over to the property. The six of us didn't mind that hill at all. When you're going up and down multiple times a day you leave at the end of the week with great legs! Its a short walk from the cabin to the dock, which is also a great place to throw some chairs and relax. Its on a cove within a cove and feels like your own private oasis.
The cabin was perfect. Its beautiful inside - but you'll want to spend most of your time outside under that covered porch! This place is made for outdoor living. The stone fireplace with the seating area and the dining table was the perfect place to relax and unwind and eat a big meal after a long day on the water. Speaking of meals, do yourself a favor and plan them -the closest grocery store is about a 30 minute drive. Even though our group consisted of six adults we had a little fun at the fishing pond too! It's a great pond for kids to fish. They'll definitely catch something! We opted not to use the zipline, but it sure looked fun.
I cannot say enough about how perfect this place it. If you're looking for a romantic getaway, an adults only vacation, a family vacation...this place is for you!
We will be back! Thanks for everything!
Something For Everyone
I have been vacationing in the Bryson City or Robbinsville area for the past 15 years. I can truly say this property has something for everyone. Plenty of room for everyone to sleep. Our adult children fought over the "Chicken Coop" cabin. Just a word of advice. Plan your meals and snacks. The nearest grocery store is 15 miles away. The outdoor covered deck with outdoor shower and FIREPLACE was our favorite hang out. The layout of the property with the large fishing pond could not of been better. The Zip Line is perfect for all ages. Gene, the property caretaker, was a total joy to deal with. Just a short walk from the house is access to Fontana Lake with a dock for your boat, fishing, or swimming. Fontana Lake is amazing. A canoe and kayak is provided for your use. If you go with a large group but like to get away this is the place for you. Plenty or hiking and bike trails are all around the property. I cant say enough about how perfect the property is for family or friends who truly want to take a vacation.
Great family fun!!
Such a beautiful property! Our family of 5 had a wonderful time swimming, fishing, hiking and roasting marshmallows!! House is clean and well stocked with everything we needed! Looking forward to going back soon!!
