About this property

Oceanfront Retreat | Private Deck & Beach Access | Rose & Tide

Welcome to Rose & Tide, a remarkable architectural oceanfront home inspired by the work of renowned Canadian architect Arthur Erickson, set in the prestigious Bluff area of Lower Gibsons. Experience the essence of West Coast living surrounded by ocean, coastal rock formations, and arbutus trees, where the scenery shifts with the changing light and the soothing sound of the waves becomes part of everyday life.

Wake up to sweeping views across the water toward Keats Island, enjoy your morning coffee overlooking the ocean, and end the day watching the evening light settle over the water. Here, the experience is less about simply having a place to sleep and more about slowing down and experiencing the quieter rhythm of West Coast living.

Room 2 is a spacious ocean-facing bedroom of approximately 205 sq ft, filled with natural light and expansive water views. The room has its own 48 sq ft private bathroom, reserved exclusively for you and never shared with other guests. The bathroom is located directly across the hallway rather than ensuite, a layout that allows more of the bedroom itself to open toward the ocean and its views.

One of Room 2’s most special features is its spacious 418 sq ft private open ocean-view deck. Facing southeast toward Keats Island, the view brings together two very different perspectives of the coast: the island sits beautifully in the foreground, while beyond it the water opens into a seemingly endless expanse of sea stretching toward the horizon.

Settle beneath the cream-colored Zara Home sun umbrella with a morning coffee or a book, and behind you, an entire wall is lined with roses that bloom through three seasons of the year. With the ocean stretching out in front and roses behind, the deck feels like a private little world of its own and is one of our favorite places at Rose & Tide to simply sit and let the afternoon pass.

Inside the room, thoughtful details are designed to make your stay feel a little more special. Settle into Zara Home 300-thread-count bed linens, enjoy music through your own Bang & Olufsen Bluetooth speaker, and make use of a Dyson hair dryer during your stay. An aroma diffuser is also available upon request, with a curated selection of more than a dozen essential oil scents to choose from, allowing you to create an atmosphere that feels just right for you.

Beyond your private deck, you are surrounded by oceanfront gardens and the natural landscape of the Bluff. Spend a quiet afternoon listening to the waves, watch boats crossing toward Keats Island, or simply see what passes through the water below. Depending on the season and a little luck, seals, eagles, and even whales may make an appearance.

One of the most special features of the property is private beach access directly from the home. Follow our oceanfront stairway down to the shoreline for swimming, kayaking, exploring the beach, or simply finding a quiet spot beside the water.

For morning coffee and light meals, guests have access to a 30 sq ft shared kitchenette, as well as a spacious 264 sq ft shared outdoor food-preparation area. The kitchenette is intended for simple food and beverage preparation rather than full cooking.

To make mornings easy, we provide complimentary light breakfast essentials such as coffee, tea, milk, bread, and seasonal fruit. When available, you may also enjoy seasonal fruits and vegetables harvested from our garden.

Despite feeling tucked away by the ocean, the property is conveniently located near Gibsons Marina, Gibsons Public Market, restaurants, and local attractions, making it easy to explore the Sunshine Coast and return to the peace of the water at the end of the day.

A note about the property: This is a hosted oceanfront residence rather than an entire-home rental. Our approximately 4,700 sq ft home contains only three guest rooms, with a maximum of two guests per room. Your bedroom, bathroom, and 418 sq ft ocean-view deck are completely private, while the kitchenette, outdoor food-preparation area, and beach access are shared guest amenities. We intentionally keep occupancy low to preserve the quiet, relaxed atmosphere of the home.

If you are looking for an entire property completely to yourself with no shared spaces, an entire-home rental may be a better fit. But if your idea of a memorable West Coast escape is waking up to the ocean, having morning coffee surrounded by roses, wandering down to the beach, watching the light change over Keats Island, and falling asleep to the sound of the waves, we would love to welcome you.

Wonderful, charming Oceanside, with many private decks for languishing and taking in the magical views. Lovely host, Sophia welcomes guests like family, so kind and generous with her home. The island is gorgeous and many hikes, swims, towns to explore.

This place was magical! The location is unmatched: stunning ocean views, beach access, peaceful and quiet. The hosts Michelle and Sophia are absolutely wonderful - attentive, kind, and so sweet. There’s even a wonderful dog and kitty at the property (maybe our favorite part!). It’s also very close to downtown Gibsons, which was lovely. Would recommend and would love to visit again!

There was absolutely no privacy, three small rooms side by side. Not only could you hear everything our neighbours could look directly in our room. The views were great, but it really was like a fancy hostel. No real kitchens, T.V. bathrooms across the hallway, doors opening and closing regularly . I thought Vrbo was all about your own place and privacy at 500 dollars per night it is very misrepresented.

Thank you for your feedback. We would, however, like to clarify several points for future guests reading this review. Our home is approximately 4,700 sq ft and contains only three guest rooms. The room this guest describes as “small” is approximately 205 sq ft, with his own private ocean-view deck measuring approximately 418 sq ft. Each guest room has its own private bathroom. The bathrooms are located across the hallway rather than inside the bedrooms, a layout that allows us to maximize the bedrooms’ ocean-facing space and views. Guests also have access to the shared kitchenette and outdoor food-preparation area. We certainly understand that travelers specifically looking for an entirely private home with no shared spaces may prefer a different type of accommodation. We were particularly surprised by the comments regarding privacy and noise because, during this guest’s stay, another guest contacted us after feeling uncomfortable encountering him shirtless in the shared food-preparation area. There were also concerns about loud conversation and drinking on the deck after 10 p.m. Privacy and consideration work both ways in a shared property, and outdoor noise late at night can affect others regardless of the size of a home. Unfortunately, after checkout we also discovered extensive staining on our Zara Home 300-thread-count white bedding that appeared consistent with a spilled beverage. We have been welcoming short-term guests since 2018, and experiences like this have been exceptionally rare. Our many previous guest reviews provide a much broader picture of the atmosphere we work hard to maintain. To preserve a quiet and peaceful environment, we limit every guest room to a maximum of two occupants and do not accommodate minors. We completely respect that this style of accommodation will not suit every traveler. Our goal is to offer spacious private guest rooms, private bathrooms, expansive ocean views and outdoor spaces within a shared 4,700 sq ft oceanfront home, rather than an entire-home rental. We encourage future guests to review the property details carefully and choose the type of accommodation that best matches the level of privacy they are looking for.

Spectacular location

Sophia goes above and beyond to create a very welcoming environment. The layout of the rooms is somewhat unconventional, but who needs to stay inside with all Gibsons has to offer.

A Hidden Gem – Peaceful, Beautiful, and Truly Special! Staying at Sofia’s bed and breakfast was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, Sofia made us feel completely at home with her warm and welcoming hospitality. She’s not only incredibly accommodating, but genuinely cares about making each guest’s stay special. The house itself is perched in a stunning location with absolutely breathtaking views. It’s the only property in the area with direct access to a secluded beach, which made for peaceful morning walks and unforgettable sunsets. The grounds are beautifully maintained, with over 200 rose bushes in bloom—truly a sight (and scent!) to experience. There’s also a lovely little vegetable garden that adds to the charm and freshness of the stay. Adding to the homely atmosphere are the two resident pets—a sweet dog and a very friendly cat—who are always around for a cuddle or a bit of company. If you’re looking for a tranquil getaway with natural beauty, warm hospitality, and a touch of magic, look no further than Sofia’s place. It’s a rare find that I can’t recommend enough. We can’t wait to come back!

About the host

Hosted by Sophia

Host profile image
Hi, I’m Sophia. I’m a retired mechanical engineer who now spends most of my days happily in the garden, where I grow several hundred rose bushes in every colour imaginable. Watching them bloom each season never gets old, and I love sharing the view and the fresh blooms with our guests.

After years in engineering, I bring the same care and attention to detail to hosting. I like things to run smoothly, so your space will always be clean, well prepared, and thoughtfully set up before you arrive.

I host together with my daughter, and we genuinely enjoy meeting people from all over the world. We’re warm and welcoming but also respect your privacy, so you’ll always have your own space and the freedom to relax on your own terms. If you’d like tips on the best local beaches, walks, restaurants, or ferry times, just ask. We’re always happy to help you make the most of your stay on the Sunshine Coast.

We look forward to welcoming you and hope our little corner by the ocean becomes one of the highlights of your trip.

Why they chose this property

This neighborhood perfectly captures the natural beauty and peaceful charm of the Sunshine Coast. Nestled on The Bluff in Lower Gibsons, our home offers breathtaking ocean views, lush arbutus trees, and the soothing sound of waves, a true escape into nature.

One of the things I love most is the private staircase leading directly to Georgia Beach, making it easy to enjoy a morning walk along the shore or a quiet sunset by the water. Yet for all its tranquility, you’re just minutes from Gibsons Public Market, Gibsons Marina, and some of the best local restaurants and cafés, offering a perfect balance of relaxation and convenience.

Whether you’re here for adventure, a romantic getaway, or simply to unwind, this neighborhood offers a magical coastal experience that keeps guests coming back. I hope you love it as much as we do!

What makes this property unique

Wake to the sound of the waves on Gibsons’ beautiful waterfront. Just minutes from Gibsons Marina and the ferry, this oceanfront home blends complete tranquility with easy access to everything the Sunshine Coast offers, from seaside strolls and harbour dining to unforgettable sunsets over the water.

Your guest room sits on a dedicated guest level with its own entrance, fully separate from the hosts’ floor, so you can come and go freely and never cross paths with us. The level offers two private rooms, each rented separately, sharing a guest entrance and a common kitchenette in a friendly B&B style setup. Every room faces south toward Georgia Beach with ocean views, and has its own private bathroom for exclusive use, just across the hallway.

Step out to private beach access, or relax on one of several patios over the water. The kitchenette has a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and egg cooker, ideal for light meals (no stovetop). We also keep the fridge stocked with fresh breakfast staples like local milk and bread, ready for a relaxed self serve breakfast whenever you wake.

Free private parking onsite. Book your stay and immerse yourself in the magic of oceanfront living.
