About this property

Ben Lomond Creek Cabins

Summary:

*Continental breakfast included*

Experience a unique alpine getaway amongst Tasmania's rugged wilderness. Located in the historic ski village within Ben Lomond national park, these newly renovated cabins sleep up to 5 people and provide all the cosy modern comforts of home. Accessible via the scenic Jacobs Ladder road, the village is a hub for year-round activities, including skiing, snowboarding, hiking, and wildlife watching.

The Space:

The newly renovated cabins sleep up to five people (two doubles, one single) and contain homely modern comforts such as a kitchenette, high-speed Wi-Fi, smart TVs, electric blankets and central heating.

Guest Access:

Each cabin has access to a back deck with views of the mountain, ski runs, village and creek.

A private continental breakfast is included in your booking. Fruit, cereal, bread, juice, coffee and tea will be conveniently available in a private neighboring cabin in the morning.

Other Things to Note:

-Checking In (3pm-5pm) & Out (10am)

Please make your way up the boardwalk located behind the day shelter, into the Ben Lomond Snow Sports Café to check in and collect your keys.

If you arrive after our check in closes at 5pm make your way directly to the Creek Cabins for self check in. You will be notified via message to which room number you are assigned to and the door will be unlocked.

Upon check out please leave your keys on the kitchen bench and the front door unlocked.

-Getting Here

Ben Lomond can be reached via the C401 Road from Launceston. The trip takes about 1 hour 20 minutes travel time from Launceston or 3.5 hours from Hobart via the Midlands Heritage Highway.

If you are using Maps or Satnavs, put in Upper Blessington and turn off onto Ben Lomond Road where the Ben Lomond signs indicate. The Alpine Village is located 18 kilometres up the unsealed road. The last seven kilometres of the road are subject to ice and snow through Winter months.

Park in the upper car park and make your way to the Ben Lomond Snow Sports building for check in.

-Parks Pass Required

A Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife Service pass is required for your vehicle to enter the Ben Lomond national park. Parks passes can be purchased online on the Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife website.

-Internet and Phone Service

Free Wi-Fi is available in your cabin as well as at the Ben Lomond Snow Sports building. Please note that due to our remote, alpine location, the free WiFi service may occasionally be disrupted due to inclement weather conditions. Additionally, mobile phone service coverage is very limited on Ben Lomond. Telstra customers can take advantage of a service repeater located in the Ben Lomond Snow Sports building and access network in and around the building.

A UHF radio will be located in your cabin to contact staff in emergencies only, this line will be monitored at all hours during your stay. Please keep the radio switched off when not in use to prevent battery drain and disturbances from other radio users.

-Remote Nature

The Ben Lomond Plateau is a remote area with limited services. The cabins run primarily off solar power, with a backup generator at the ready. Please be mindful of power consumption during your visit.

-Food and dining

A continental breakfast each morning is included with your booking.

During the day the only place to purchase food on the mountain is the Café located in the Ben Lomond Snow Sports building, which serves a variety of food and drink options from 9am-4:30pm daily. There are no other restaurants, cafés or general stores on the mountain.

This year we are proud to upgrade our communal dining cabin to a fully fledged, fire-side guest lounge, in the bottom floor of The Peak. The Peak guest lounge is an exclusive area for Creek Cabins customers to relax and dine in comfort, with gorgeous views of the alpine village and main ski area. The Peak is conveniently located just 20m from the Creek Cabins. Inside, heatable and easy to prepare dinner options will be available for purchase and you’ll have access to a domestic style kitchen for preparation of these, or your own meals. These DIY options are yet to be finalised, but our focus is to provide you with meals and products that are both affordable and high quality.

In your cabin kitchenette facilities are limited to: a kettle, fridge, microwave, basic cooking utensils, and cutlery. The Peak contains more cookware, as well as an oven and stove top, this is a shared space so we ask that you please respect others by cleaning and washing up after use.
