Escape to Fels Haus, our peaceful “Cliff House” retreat tucked into Cliffview Resort, just 8 miles, or about 15 minutes, from Natural Bridge State Resort Park. With a private hot tub, firepit, spacious deck, beautiful treeline views, and room for up to 6 guests, our home gives you a comfortable place to settle in between Red River Gorge adventures.
One of our favorite features is the living room’s large window wall overlooking the treetops, bringing the wooded setting right into the home. Spend the day hiking, climbing, paddling, or sightseeing, then come back for dinner on the grill, a private hot tub soak, and then enjoy a quiet evening around the fire.

• Kitchen + Living: The main level of Fels Haus is designed for easy, comfortable time together. The fully equipped kitchen gives you everything you need for breakfasts before the trails, dinners back at home, or a laid-back night in, with a gas stove and oven, refrigerator/freezer with built-in ice maker, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, drip coffee maker, cookware, dinnerware, and everyday cooking essentials. Coffee and coffee supplies are not provided.
A dining table with seating for 6 guests makes it easy for everyone to gather for meals, card games, or planning the next day’s Gorge adventure. A utility closet near the kitchen includes a washer and dryer, iron, and ironing board for guest use.

The living room is one of our favorite spaces in the home, thanks to the large window wall overlooking the treeline. Settle into the leather sectional, turn on the Smart TV or DVD player, or simply relax and take in the wooded views. Wi-Fi, additional seating, and a ceiling fan round out the space and make it a comfortable place to unwind after a full day out exploring.

- Downstairs: Full bathroom with stand-up shower, built-in shower seat, grab rail, and removable showerhead

The downstairs shower includes several accessibility-friendly features, including the built-in seat and grab rail. If you have specific accessibility questions before booking, please reach out so we can help determine whether our home will meet your needs.

Fresh linens and towels are provided.

• Outdoor Living: The outdoor spaces at Fels Haus are made for slowing down and enjoying the wooded Cliffview setting. The spacious deck gives you plenty of room to stretch out with comfortable seating, enjoy a morning coffee among the trees, or settle in after a long day exploring the Gorge.

The private hot tub is the perfect place to unwind under the trees, while the propane grill makes easy cabin dinners even better. As the evening cools down, head to the firepit for a relaxed night outside with your group.

The upstairs King bedroom also opens to its own private balcony, giving you a quieter spot to enjoy the treeline views away from the main deck. Whether you’re soaking, grilling, sitting by the fire, or just taking in the scenery, Fels Haus gives you several outdoor spaces to enjoy the mountain setting.

Firewood is not provided, but it is available for purchase at most local gas stations. We encourage purchasing firewood locally to help prevent the spread of invasive species and protect our beautiful wooded areas. Propane is provided for the grill.

• Duplex-Style Property: Fels Haus is part of a duplex-style property, but don’t let that scare you off! The adjoining side is used only by the owners and is never rented to other guests. If the owners plan to use their side, we block Fels Haus from booking. That means if your dates are available, the owners will not be staying next door during your reservation. Your rental space and all listed amenities are private to your stay.

• Pet Policy: Fels Haus is not pet-friendly, and pets are not permitted on the property due to owner allergies. Please do not bring pets to our home. Unauthorized pets may result in a $350 fee.

• Starter Essentials: We provide an Essential Starter Pack with 2 rolls of toilet paper per bathroom, 1 roll of paper towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, 3 trash bags, and 1 fresh sponge.

Please note that these supplies are provided as a starter amount and are not replenished during your stay, so you may want to bring or purchase additional items for longer visits.

• Parking + Access: Fels Haus is located off a blacktop road with small inclines and is easily accessible by standard 2WD vehicles under normal weather conditions. 4WD is always recommended during winter weather, snow, ice, heavy rain, or other inclement conditions.

Parking is limited to 2 vehicles in the roadside-style parking area directly in front of our home. Trailers are prohibited.

• Location: Fels Haus is located within Cliffview Resort, just 8 miles, or about 15 minutes, from Natural Bridge State Resort Park. Hiking, rock climbing, horseback riding, kayaking, canoeing, zip lines, restaurants, sightseeing, and other Red River Gorge favorites are all within easy driving distance.

A catch-and-release fishing pond is located near our home. Please note that the pond is nearby but is not located on our private property.

• Cliffview Lodge Note: Fels Haus is located next to Cliffview Lodge. A privacy fence along the back side of our property helps create separation, but you may occasionally notice vehicle or guest traffic associated with the Lodge. We like to make this clear before booking so there are no surprises when you arrive.

🍂 Seasonal Fall Note:
During fall, leaves are actively dropping throughout the Red River Gorge. Our porches, decks, and outdoor spaces are swept and prepared before arrival, but fresh leaves can accumulate quickly—even shortly after housekeeping has finished. A few leaves on outdoor surfaces are a normal part of staying in the woods during autumn and are not an indication that the property was not cleaned.

• A Note About Nature:
You’re staying in the heart of Kentucky’s Red River Gorge, surrounded by the beautiful Appalachian Mountains and all the nature that comes with them. While our cabins are professionally cleaned and routinely treated for pests, occasional insects and other woodland visitors may still make an appearance—especially during warmer months. This is a natural part of staying in a heavily wooded mountain environment and does not necessarily indicate a cleanliness or pest-control issue.
