Really enjoyable stay at Curlew Cottage!

Loved our stay at Curlew Cottage, it's a really sweet cottage with gorgeous views and the conservatory makes it even better as we were able to enjoy the views in the warmth. Kitchen is really well fitted out with everything you could need and bedroom linen is amazing in super comfortable beds. The only draw back were the steep cottage stairs for my elderly mother, but otherwise I would highly recommend.

A lovely cottage with wonderful views

We spent a lovely week in Curlew Cottage. The cottage itself is very well presented and comfortable and the location of Dittisham peaceful and relaxing. The views of the River Dart are stunning and we were blessed with good weather and could make use of the pretty garden. The local ferries are a great way to get around and we also found walking in the area very enjoyable

Delightful cottage

We had a lovely few days in Curlew Cottage. The owners have provided a very well equipped property and all the beds were super comfy. We loved sitting in the garden in the evening and admiring the river view. Loved the bats circling overhead in the gardens. Because you are on the edge of the village it is very quiet and peaceful. Would definitely stay again.

Another lovely stay

We stayed at Curlew Cottage for a second time and had a superb week. The cottage is very well appointed with pretty much everything you could need for a comfortable holiday. Everything in the cottage is of a high quality so a real home from home. The views from the conservatory and main bedroom are fantastic. Parking is very limited in Higher Street but plenty of space in Riverside Road, which is just a short walk away. This cottage is not suitable for someone with mobility problems as the stairs to the first floor are narrow and steep. We love it here and hope to return next Spring.

Lovely quiet comfortable stay

Delightful comfortable well equipped cottage, stairs a little challenging for elderly or disabled. Lovely quiet location with a great garden and view which could be enjoyed even in inclement weather from the conservatory.

The cottage has everything you need for a great holiday. The views from the garden are particularly lovely. Dittisham itself is calm, tranquil, beautiful and friendly. We just keep coming back.

A beautiful Devon cottage with a fabulous view

The cottage has been renovated beautifully and the view over the river is “picture postcard!” The cottage was well equipped with everything we needed, the small garden is lovely and all in all it was a wonderful, quiet place to relax. The local community owned pub was welcoming and an evening stroll down to the pub by the jetty was another pleasant experience.

A delightful cottage with lovely views.

A charming cottage located in a quiet part of the village but with easy access to all the local facilities at the River Dart quay and with walks down to the Mill Creek seen from the rear garden. Dittisham village is extremely attractive. Curlew Cottage was fully equipped with everything that we needed and the most comfortable bed that we have probably ever slept in! We stayed during a heatwave and we fully appreciated the outdoor garden with furniture and parasol but at times the indoor option with the thick solid walls and stone floors provided an essential escape from the heat. The conservatory was lovely but despite roof blinds it was unfortunately a bit too much of a ‘greenhouse’ during our stay. At normal times it would be great though and the view from here and the rear garden is absolutely stunning. The on-road parking wasn’t a problem and we were able to find a space most days just along the road from the cottage. We would thoroughly recommend staying at Curlew Cottage.

We had a wonderful stay at this well appointed cottage, stylish decor, superb views with everything we needed. Conservatory such a bonus especially in the mornings over breakfast and to sit in on wet days! We love ‘Ditsum’ and will return

Another delightful stay at Curlew Cottage

We had another wonderfully restful and relaxing stay at Curlew cottage this year. As before the cottage was spotlessly clean and the garden so peaceful. We love the personal touch that has gone into the decor to create an obviously well loved holiday home. The cottage has everything we needed for a fantastic holiday and we hope to be back next year.

Lovely cottage in a stunningly beautiful area

Cottage certainly lived up to expectations. Helped by the sunny and warm weather during our stay, we loved our two weeks here. View from the garden is simply stunning, cottage was very comfortable and had everything we needed. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the beautiful River Dart, using the little and bigger ferries on the river to get to and from Greenway and Dartmouth. So much to see and do in this beautiful part of the country. We will be back!

Lovely comfortable cottage

Great cottage in a lovely little village. He most stunning view from the garden and the top floor windows. Easy pretty walks down to the River Dart. Ease of access to the Ferry for water trips to the other side or Dartmouth. Doggie loved it too. The road in and out of Dittisham is single track in parts so just have to be cautious when driving.

Excellent location with views

Lovely views from the rear of the property with a lovely garden. More comfortable chairs in the conservatory that could recline would be beneficial. The kitchen appliances were not very good quality, the hob took ages to heat anything up as did the cooker.

Cosy cottage with beautiful views

Curlew Cottage is the perfect place to relax, unwind and get away from it all. A beautifully presented property with fabulous views from the garden and main bedroom. Had all the amenities we needed. 10 minute walk downhill to the Ferry Boat Inn on the river for delicious pizzas, the Anchorstone Cafe for a seafood lunch and more fantastic views. Steep walk back up to the cottage but worth the effort! Easy to get ferries to and from Dartmouth so can leave the car behind. We had an excellent stay, really recharged the batteries. Highly recommend Curlew Cottage.

Lovely week at Curlew Cottage

We had a really lovely stay at Curlew Cottage and loved being in Dittisham which is a thriving little village. We were 2 adults and 2 teens (plus a dog) and the cottage was cosy but big enough for the 4 of us. The view from the house and garden was amazing and we made the most of it by spending our time in the conservatory and garden. Curlew cottage was really comfortable and well equipped with everything we needed for the week. My only minor negative is that a welcome hamper would have been a nice touch :-)

Stunning Views

Beautiful cottage with stunning views of the Dart. Sadly the local Pub is now run by the Community so is only open Tue. Fri. & Sat. nights between 6-10 and does not serve food. Also the Patio with amazing views isn't open so we were very disappointed. The only cafe in the village is for sale and not open. Lack of parking is a nuisance. We would love to go again but only if the Pub & Cafe are open.

A Beautiful Retreat

This was our first visit to Curlew Cottage and we would love to return again. The house is small but perfect for a small family. It is exceptionally well appointed with quality fixtures and fittings. Everything you could possibly need is available. We spent a lot of time in the conservatory overlooking the beautiful garden and stunning river view. The only negative is that there is no reserved parking, although plenty available a short walk away. The staircase is quite steep so not suitable for someone with mobility problems. We thoroughly recommend this cottage.

A gorgeous cottage with a spectacular view.

We have stayed at Curlew Cottage many times over the past 15 years because the cottage is so welcoming and the view is just beautiful, it is also incredibly calm and peaceful. Dittisham is also a great places to stay with the fabulous FBI pub and the Anchorstone restaurant down by the water and also the regular ferries to Dartmouth and across to Greenways. There are also great walks towards Cornworthy and beyond. Unfortunately the standards of cleanliness and upkeep within the cottage have definitely slumped this visit as there was an unpleasant smell of damp in the kitchen when we arrived and we needed to wash cutlery, plates and utensils before use. The timers on the radiators were also mostly broken. Hopefully all will be back to normal high standards next time we visit.

curlew feedback

The cottage was comfortable and cleaned very well with the exception of the carpet in the front room which had an enormous, very off-putting stain. We moved a floor mat to cover the stain for the remainder of our stay but it was an unfortunate first impression and gave us a rather yucky feeling. Not good! The front room felt rather dreary and generally could use a little spruce-up, we spent no time in it. Bedrooms cheerful and very clean. Ditto bathroom. Didn't use the shower as it felt odd to shower in the bedroom! The conservatory was where we spent the most time, lovely garden (I did some geranium deadheading and hydrangea watering!) and those incredible views. Kitchen well appointed but could use a colander and a few pieces of Tupperware. Rubbish collection rather odd - when we went into the garden to remove the bin in order to put our week's rubbish out before departing we discovered that it was full of the previous renter's rubbish! So we put that out along with ours in a rubbish bag as soon as we heard the rubbish truck approaching but they would not take the bagged rubbish, only the binned .. so we put our rubbish in the bin and placed it back in the garden.

An idyllic location in Dittisham

Curlew Cottage is a fantastic and relaxing location. The view from the garden is so tranquil and ever changing with the tides. The cottage is very well equipped and well presented to provide a relaxing stay.
