Fantastic quiet lakefront getaway

Wife and I here for a long weekend with our infant daughter and 2 dogs. Location is perfect with direct access through the lake via a path through tall mature trees. The double deck is awesome with great views over the lake. Very quiet area so you can really sit out and enjoy nature. House has everything we needed. Cooked a few meals with ease. Master bedroom had plenty of room with big King bed. No issues at all with access, check-in, check-out, etc. We would highly recommend this place for all families!

Great lakefront property

We all had a really good time, the house has nice spot on the lake with nice beach area. The deck and grill were great. The inside of the house is very pretty, plenty bathrooms and bedrooms. The only comment would be the house needs a thorough cleaning under all the furniture/beds and clean cobwebs. Wasn’t a real big deal, didn’t bother us any but would of given 5 stars if it was cleaner. We didn’t mind and want to rent this property again. Thank you.

Mostly good

Only one complaint…that master bath and the bath below it did not have hot shower/bath water. It never gets past warm. Other amenities need attention. Fire pit rusted through, light over stove burned out and the kitchen is dark. It needs that light for cooking

Pleasant stay

The house was beautiful. Lots of bathrooms!! Sliding doors from lower bedrooms let in nice cool breeze at night. The trees, birds & wildlife is beautiful. Two decks were nice to have, upper for sun or lower for shade. Fire ring on lower deck very convenient. Nice path to lake & walking trail. Nice area right at the water for swimming, picnic, fire ring and swing. Stores, shopping, kids entertainment & hiking close by. Quick respond to messages sent with concerns & questions. Cons- the decks were dirty I had to sweep them, air conditioning needs updated, need queen size beds since mostly adults stay, could use updated mattresses. Advertised showed deck off main bedroom was not there & small bedroom now has bunkbeds. The fishing was not good. Area is geared more for boats & water entertainment. Boats & water vehicles were too loud, but we are a family of fishing people so that is just our preference. Overall, great for family gathering.

Master bedroom was like sleeping in a sauna due to the lack of ac. One of the sofas and chair in living room were broken and you could not comfortably sit in them. The lawn service showed up on one of our days while we were eating breakfast outside to cut the grass driving us inside. The light over the oven was broken and repair promptly but stopped working after one day. The house needs a deep cleaning. The pot and pans needed to be washed before using. The dining room table's finish is gummy and required placing bath towels on the table since our hands and dishes would get stuck to the finish. The small area rugs were so dirty I wouldn't let my dog sleep on them. I would not recommend this rental to everyone who's activities include putting together puzzles, playing board games or card playing , and watching a movie. The waterfront was of course wonderful since it is Deep Creek. However, mud pies and other evidence of previous renters diminished our water front experience. The cookie sheets were unusable , again dirty and covered with grease. The coffee pots were covered with finger prints and kitchen dirt. Before we started our vacation my daughter, sister and I had to clean the kitchen dishes and pots and pans before using. Given the lack of attention to a deep cleaning of this rental we became concerned about sleeping under comforters that were on the beds.

Great spot!

House is in a great, quiet location, but not far from everything you want to do. Gorgeous lake views and great place to watch the sunset. Enough room for the whole family to hang together or have their own spot to chill out when needed. Can’t wait to come back!

Great Location

Enjoyed our stay with family. Enough space for all 9 of us. Clean. Leaf blower would have made it easier to remove leaves from drive way and deck. With rain got very slippery on leaves. But to be expected when staying in the woods.

Great location, so-so house

Great location on the lake. The foliage was gorgeous! House was large enough for our group of 9 adults. The deck and fire pit were great. Kitchen is modern, but small. Could use some newer pans. Furniture in living room is old and sinks in when you sit on it. The house was not very clean, cobwebs in light fixtures and dusty. The dehumidifier runs a lot but still musty in basement. The beds, except for the master bed, had old plastic mattress pads on them that made you sweat and made noise when you moved. Beds are not too comfy. Needs some updating! We had a great time despite the above. Could be a very nice house if it was cleaned thoroughly and updated.

Overpriced with lots of issues

This home has a gorgeous view and would be a fantastic place to stay if there were not so many issues. This is definitely not a home for you if you have mobility issues. There are steps everywhere. The kitchen and bathroom were not clean. The appliances and cabinets in the kitchen had spots of coffee, tea, soda and food particles on them. The master bathroom shower stall and tub was dirty, hair everywhere. The sheets had spots of blood on them. We used only a portion of the home so I can't comment on the rest of it. Housekeeping did reclean some items. With these cleaning issues, I have concerns since I thought there would be extra cleaning due to COVID 19. The great room furniture is old and sagging with no support. The cushions were so flat that you could see the space behind them. You felt like you were sitting on the floor. They were so uncomfortable that we had to call and request that something be done. They could only replace one couch and we were able to sit in comfort. The couch was not replaced by the owner and the use of this couch was temporary. There were issues with all of the vertical blinds. The ones in the dining room did not open and close properly and was actually missing slats leaving big spaces that anyone, or anything, could look into at night. The one in the master bedroom did not have the pull to open and shut. You had to use your hands. With the exception of the patio doors in the dining area, the other ones were left shut. The master bathroom shower did not have a bathmat. The stall is a plastic molded pre-manufactured shower. It was very slippery and the last day my husband was not so lucky, he fell in the shower. There were electrical fireplaces in the small and the master bedrooms. They did not work so maintenance came out and found the remotes to be the problem. These fireplaces had to be turned on by hand. The master bedroom never worked properly. The fireplace flue could not be opened or shut because the operating parts were disconnected. Maintenance came out to do the repair and rigged it up so it would work. However, we don’t believe it was opened all the way because there was smoke in the room and the smoke detector went off. There were so many issues we wanted to leave the next day but could not afford to lose our money. Based upon other rentals we have stayed in Deep Creek, this house is overpriced. The home is old and the maintenance has not been kept up to date.

Awesome stay!

Donnas Choice is a beautiful property. Our whole family had a blast and the private floating dock was a short walk down to the lake. The house was clean and had a fully stocked kitchen. The family room couches need to be replaced since they’ve had a lot of use over the years but not a big issue. We will definitely return!

Great property!

Overall, Donna's Choice is a great place to stay. Really nice location and enjoyed the lake views. The only thing I would recommend with this property, as well as some of the other dog-friendly properties, is that they have a dog crate available. It's a bit of a bear traveling with my large puppy's crate, but we manage!

Long weekend retreat

Overall, I would definitely rent this property again. Great Master Suite, awesome dock with fire pit nearby. On a calmer part of the lake - a great area for kids to waterski and tube. I was satisfied with the overall cleanliness of the house. The basement has a dehumidifier to address moisture - this wasn’t an issue for us during our stay. Overall it was a great home to spend a long weekend with friends and family.

Great Vacation Destination

The home was everything as described and very comfortable. We had difficulty with the combination lock, but when I called, they immediately helped us and stayed on the phone until we were in the home. Taylor Made was so nice to work with. They even followed-up our vacation with a phone call to ensure everything went well. I recommend this home.

This is a lovely house in an ideal location.

We experienced a delightful 3-generation holiday vacation at Donna's Choice! The lakefront view through the winter trees was perfect. Immediate access to the walking trail along the lake shore was much appreciated. The kitchen, although somewhat small, was fully functional. Loved that all 10 of us could fit easily around the dining room table. Beds were comfortable, bathrooms were fine, and the floor plan was just right. We had no problems at all with any effects of moisture on the lower level (mentioned by a previous tenant), even though some of us have allergies and asthma. Beds were comfortable, bathrooms were fine, and the floor plan was good for us. Our only suggestions would be 1) to install a chimney extender above the highest roof line – one night when we had a wonderful fire burning (thanks for providing firewood!), very high winds affected the open-flue updraft and caused smokiness inside; 2) to consider addressing reduced water pressure, especially to the upper level, while running laundry and/or dishwasher and/or other showers; and 3) to consider installing handrails along the short stairways to the lower level for little ones. We did notice cobwebs in the rafters and chandeliers, but those didn’t bother us. All in all, we were highly pleased with our situation at Donna’s Choice!

Do NOT Stay- Terrible Experience

Ruined family vacation- wish I could have given 0 stars! The entire bottom floor including three bedrooms and a bathroom was unusable due to moisture. The stairs leading to the upstairs bedroom were covered in broken glass. Master bath tub did not work. Main floor and master shower doors were broken. Home was filled with spiders (dead and alive) and webs. A spider crawled across the sheets as I was getting into our bed! House was dusty and clearly untouched before our arrival. House next door was under construction each day of our trip including Saturday and Sunday, which was not disclosed to us previously. We left early due to noise. I have contacted management multiple times and have yet to receive a return phone call after leaving several messages.

Perfect Escape

Location is perfect, waterfront is perfect (the swing is heaven) house is comfortable, nicely updated, well cared for and well appointed - and perfect for canine visitors with dog gates just where you need them. The only thing I'd add is a hot tub, and frankly everything else was so relaxing we didn't miss it. We've enjoyed many DCL houses over the years, but for pure relaxation and escape to the woods and water this is my favorite so far.

Only problem we had was that we could not get into the house until 4:30 that is when the cleaning was finished. The place to keep my boat trailers worked out great. The house was clean and neat. The walk to the dock was easy. Once we figured out the AC the house cooled down. It was a vert hot week at Deep Creek. The best part was that dogs are aloud . Daizy swam from 10 am to 4 pm every day. Oh she is a cheesy . It was a great week for all.
