Great Stay

Great stay. Comfortable - just what we needed! Only two small observations on arrival : - number of dead and alive flies in the property - TV signal kept dropping out Otherwise it was truly an excellent stay in Blossom barn.

A perfect get-away location

Goodlake Barns are a perfect location for visiting the Cotswolds. Our accommodation in Blossom Barn was was extremely comfortable, clean and equipped with all neccessary items including towels and soap dispensers. An extra nice touch were the complimentary buiscuits. After a full day touring the area, it was nice to return to a quiet, homely atmosphere. My wife is disabled, so being on one level, Blossom Barn was perfect for her needs. I think we will return.

Perfect location for RIAT and Cotswolds

We chose this stay as its very close (20 minutes) from RAF Fairford, we were in the area for the air tattoo. We stayed a few extra days to explore the area. Blossom Barn was very tidy and very comfortable with quiet neighbours. Check in and out was a breeze and finding the location was easy. Value for money cannot be beaten, especially during the hight of summer and on the air tattoo weekend.

Week with kids

We had a fantastic stay at Blossom Barn. The shared courtyard and the field by the overflow parking gave plenty of space for the kids (5 and 3) to run around without travelling. However, it was also a great base for visiting various attractions - Steam Train Museum, Crocodile Farm, Cotswolds Wildlife Park, and Oxford natural history museum being a few of the best. The accomodation was comfortable and clean.

We loved this place

The location was lovely and quiet. The Barn was spacious with lots of circulation space. Wonderful to have the wet room - just right for my disabled son. Nice to have two bathrooms. Kitchen and washing machine all perfect. We loved nearby Cheltenham, and the steam railway, Oxford, and the Natural History Museum, and Stonehenge. And Cotswold Wildlife Park is a brilliant full day out. We had a great holiday here and Blossom Barn was a perfect base. Thank you

A short break in the Cotswolds

We were a party of 4 staying in Blossom Barn. We found it to be very comfortable and clean with all of the amenities that we required. My husband is disabled so being on one level was great for him. There was a lovely wet room which was easy for hi. To navigate. I know it is not advertised as a disabled toiket/bathroom but the addition of a few grab rails in there would make all the difference to anyone who is disabled or elderly visitors. The location of the barn was within easy reach of Swindon, Oxford, Blenheim Palace and the Cotswolds Wildlife Park. We had a very enjoyable stay.

We look forward to welcoming you back to the Cotswolds in the near future.

A great place to stay in the beautiful Cotswolds

A lovely converted barn with plenty of room for 4 adults. There are 2 good size double bedrooms, 1 with a double bed & the other with twin beds. There are also 2 bathrooms, 1 of which is a wet room. I am disabled so the wet room was a must for me! My only issue is that the wet room could do with a grab rail by the toilet & another by the shower. The shower would also be improved by providing a shower stool or chair.
Svar fra VrboOwner den 2. jul. 2024
Thank you Ian for your review of Blossom Barn. We are delighted to hear that you found the property to be lovely. The wet room is a standard wet room and is not advertised as being equipped for disabled users, we are sorry if this is was not clear in the property listing. We do hope that you will be back to stay and explore the Cotswolds again soon!

Blossom Barn, Goodlake Barns

Blossom Barn provided us with a comfortable mid-week stay and although the overall cleanliness of the barn was acceptable, certain aspects let it down. The oven was dirty and grill sticky, not enough bowls, some of curtains in the sitting room area were hanging off the rails (we have subsequently heard new rails and new curtains will be installed soon but for our stay we felt there was a lack of making a good impression for all customers). In addition the super-king sized mattress was uncomfortable so after the first night we used bedroom number two. The location for access to the Cotswolds was excellent and the area was extremely quiet.

Thank you Susan for taking the time to share your experience at Blossom Barn. We are pleased to hear that you found the location convenient for exploring the Cotswolds and that you enjoyed the peace and quiet of the area. However, we regret that certain aspects of your stay did not fully meet your expectations. We have passed your feedback onto the property manager who has informed us that all the issues were addressed during your stay. She has also mentioned that the curtains are due to be replaced and after your stay the mattress has been removed and a new one has been purchased. We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

6/10 Okay

Corporate indifference was evident.

Accommodation was spacious, sheets stayed crisp. Patio area was paved, suitable for wheelchair. Lack of basic equipment in the kitchen. Substantial spider web inside the microwave. Dead insects by windows in every room. One door could not be opened, key did not fit. When asked, company reply was "this key is not for your property" - obviously untrue as we had entered initially by that door. Front windows had not been washed, probably since last season. Uncaring maintenance.

Thank you Sabine for your review of Blossom Barn. We have passed your feedback onto the property manager for his attention and we are sorry that you experienced an issue with the front door key, however I understand that the property manger came to your assistance. The windows at the Barn are cleaned on a monthly basis and as your stay was during a very hot week in June and harvesting from the adjacent farm was in full swing, this created a lot of dust on the windows. We look forward to welcoming you back to the Cotswolds soon.

Tired, a bit grubby and not the best location

This place was a bit deflating. I’d recently spent some time in several other cottages of a much higher standard in the same price range. The furnishings and décor are tired and there was a musky smell throughout the property. It’s not particularly clean. The skirting boards were thick with dust in lots of places. There’s mould in the wet room, which remains wet and damp for most of the day after a shower in the morning. The cutlery was grubby. There are several other rental places on the same site and the goldfish bowl design of the building means you can see how long the cleaners spend preparing the cottages for the next guests, which is about 20 minutes. Perhaps most disappointing of all was the noise from the neighbouring cottage and the lorries using the road immediately behind one of the bedrooms to access the farm. Part of the stay was spent enduring some children who seemed to be living in a different time zone and played loudly from 1-3am. After they left, the next guest in the same cottage could be heard snoring throughout the night, so the walls are clearly not very soundproof. The Lamb at Buckland was the highlight of the visit. Excellent food and very reasonably priced.

Thank you, Toby, for taking the time to share your feedback. We are very disappointed to receive your review and sorry that the cottage did not meet your expectations. We understand that you saw the property manager a couple of times during your stay and we genuinely wish you had reached out at the time so that we could have taken steps to address your concerns. We do, however, take all guest feedback seriously and will investigate to see if there are areas that we can improve on in future, including whether we can improve ventilation in the wetroom.

A very comfortable home from home whilst our home was being altered.

Blossom barn was extremely comfortable and exceptionally clean. We had a safety issue with one of the dining chairs and Simon was on hand to fix it the next morning. Everything is accessible in the barn however there is no armchair in the property which is usually important to someone with mobility issues and the barn description does state that it is suitable for the disabled. A minor point, we searched everywhere for oven trays but could not find any, also no bread knife. We would certainly recommend Goodlake Barns.

Thank you for sharing your feedback Larry. We're pleased you found Blossom Barn to be comfortable and exceptionally clean for your stay. We are very sorry that you experienced an issue with one of the dining chairs and appreciate you raising this with the Property Manager so that the chair could be promptly repaired. Blossom Barn is all on one level and has an accessible shower room making it suitable for someone who is less mobile, although we appreciate your suggestion of an armchair and will share this with the Owner. We'll also pick up your feedback about the oven trays and bread knife for the benefit of future guests. Overall, it's great to hear that you enjoyed staying at Blossom Barn and would be happy to recommend this property.

Nice Stay

We had a nice stay at Blossom Barn in late February 2022. It provided an excellent base for exploring nearby attractions like Coleshill and the Great Coxwell Barn as well as the Vale of the White Horse itself and of course Oxford. The Barn itself is set back from a no though road so we were certainly very happy with the lack of road noise! The WI-FI is good, the kitchenette useable and the bedrooms and living areas comfortable. The showers were good both for water temperature and pressure. We would definitely stay again and recommend the barn to friends. Stay Cotswold were friendly and helpful when booking which was much appreciated.

Great stay in Blossom Barn

We stayed in Blossom Barn for 10 days over Christmas and had a wonderful time. The barn is cosy, comfortable and a haven in the midst of the Oxfordshire countryside. It is well-stocked with all the mod cons and we had everything we need. Very friendly and efficient communication with the manager Andrew too.

Good break in the middle of England.

It provided us with a break and change of scene in this difficult year and the opportunity to visit and entertain friends that we have not not been able to visit recently. We also have family in the district to visit. It was very warm and comfortable. Constructive criticism: dishwasher for 12 place settings, but only 7 mugs, 5 knives. Front door would not shut properly so we could not secure the property when we were out. No teapot. No salad bowl. No condiments. Rather tiresome light in the courtyard on all night shining in the bedroom window.

A lovely barn close to many interesting places

The barn was lovely and peaceful but not quite sure when an adjacent barn for 10 is occupied, if it would be as peaceful! There are only spaces for 5 cars so when we came back one evening, there was no space for us. Identifying one space for each barn would be helpful. Also I had always thought a clean was included in the charges but £98 is charged for the final clean in addition to the rental. For a 4 night stay this seemed a lot! However we had a really good break and the location is central for several National Trust properties, The William Morris Museum (when restored) and of course Oxford where the Park and Ride is just at the end of the A420.
