Vintage Summer Cottage sidder højt oppe på den stenede kystlinje af Westport Island i midtkystområdet i Maine. SPEKTAKULÆRE UDSIGT over de omkringliggende øer, arbejdende hummerbåde og havnesæler. Der er også let adgang til vandet og en dock. Hendrik's Head Fyrtårn og det åbne hav er direkte syd og let synlige. Den vidunderlige sydøstlige eksponering giver en fantastisk udsigt over vandet, dyrelivet, sejlsport og solopgangen fra hvert vindue! Luftige og rummelige værelser med hyttemøbler og antikviteter. Centralvarme. En stor indhylling veranda på den vestlige side af huset for at se solnedgange. Der er en dybt vand dock på en smuk halvø med udsigt over en bugt nord for huset.
Det vigtigste sommerhus er 4 soveværelser, (3 dronninger og en konge) og en enkeltseng på den lukkede veranda. Den tilsluttede enhed har et komplet køkken, et dæk ved havnen og 4 sovepladser. Det er tilgængeligt fra hovedhuset eller fra en separat udgangsindgang.
En båders paradis!: Hvis du har en båd ... Tag den med! Der er en dock i bugten, som kan rumme en 22 fods båd. Der er altid dybt vand ved kajen. Der er en offentlig bådlansering på øen cirka 5 miles fra sommerhuset ... Kajakudlejning er tilgængelig lige op ad vejen og kan leveres og afhentes. Sheepscot Bay-området er et Boater-paradis med vidunderlige destinationer i nærheden ...

Renhed!: Jeg har haft den samme pålidelige vidunderlige rengøringsgal i 26 år. Sommerhuset er altid uplettede, og madrasser er nye, komfortable og helt dækket med madrasbeskyttere af høj kvalitet. Dette sommerhus er blevet lejet hver sommer i 28 år og har aldrig modtaget noget undtagen A 5 STJERNETALJERING !!

Our stay on Westport Island was absolutely magical! The house is filled with history, character, and charm, while still having all the modern conveniences that made our stay incredibly comfortable. It was the perfect setting for spending time together as a family.One of the absolute highlights was having fresh lobsters delivered right to our own pier! The house had everything we needed to prepare an amazing lobster dinner, which we enjoyed together at the picnic tables overlooking the water. It was one of those perfect Maine evenings we’ll always remember.We also loved singing around the fire pit under the stars, easily renting kayaks to explore the water, and seeing river porpoises and sea otters right next to the house! The location made it feel like we were truly immersed in the beauty of coastal Maine.But what made our stay especially wonderful was our host, Ellen. She was incredible at communicating with us and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome—even leaving us organic coffee and making us muffins! Her warmth and thoughtfulness made an already special place feel even more like home.Best host ever, an unforgettable house, and a truly wonderful family vacation. We would come back in a heartbeat!

We had a great stay at Ellen's property. It was very peaceful along the river. There is so much to do in the area within a 30 min. radius. Ellen was easy to work with and gave us lots of insight about the area and activities. We would stay again.

We booked this house for me and my bridesmaids for my wedding and our experience was incredible. The house is absolutely beautiful (we took our first look pics and group pics in the yard!) and the hosts were very attentive and thoughtful. I'd book this house again in a heartbeat!

Main-cation

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The home and grounds were beautiful. Fishing and kayaking with the seals right from the dock were highlights. The kitchen and dining room were great for family meals. We enjoyed a day trip to Boothbay Harbor and a hike at Camden Hills state park. Locally we had a great meal at the Montsweag Restaurant.

Classic Coastal Maine Cottage

Our family stayed at the large house and property while attending a wedding in Boothbay. We enjoyed the incredible water views, boiled lobster, fished from the dock and built fires in the fire pit. Very idyllic location!

Family reunion

Ellen's place was perfect for our group of 11 people for a family reunion spanning 3 generations from 2yrs old to 70's. Plenty of spaces to find solitude or gather together inside, outside, covered porches, etc.

Awesome Spot in Lobster Heaven!

Ellen's place was a perfect location for a low key weekend with friends during a high school reunion. Love all the decor, the home-y feel, and the fantastic views! We spent lots of time on the dock, enjoy some lawn games, grilled, and had a wonderful lobster boil dinner complete with fresh, dock-delivered lobsters. Would love to stay here again!!

Beautiful place to find yourself

The area was so beautiful. Our host apologized for the uncommon foggy weather, but even the fog was stunning as we watched it roll in and undulate above the water. We felt very comfortable in the house; one of my traveling companions remarked "I felt very at home here."

Great weekend getaway in Maine

I visited this property with a group of friends for a weekend. It’s a great getaway in Maine, beautiful property with a ton of space for activities. We had a blast playing wiffleball, grilling outside, and sitting by the fire. There’s also a local lobster fisherman that dropped off some freshly caught lobsters that turned out to be delicious. Would visit again, highly recommend!

Beautiful setting!

This is a beautiful spot -- great views and plenty of space to relax, cook, and play. The dock is wonderful if you have a boat or just want a swimming spot. Things to note depending on the make-up of your group... the stairs are quite steep and shallow; the 4 bedrooms on the 2nd floor of the main house share a standard bathroom; there are 2 fridges, which is great!

What a wonderful place

This was truly a dream come true as we planned my daughter‘s graduation. To be able to find a home to fit 12 people, have this unbelievable view and every thing we needed in one location was just incredible. We were even able to host a last-minute graduation dinner with ease. The property and the view made the rain seem like sunshine and rainbows. Ellen is an incredible host not only does she communicate quickly, but with care. She truly wants her guest to have an amazing time.

Classic coastal Maine

We really enjoyed staying in this large classic Maine home on beautiful coastline full of seals, ospreys and flowers. The house worked well for our combination of two families with 5 children. We'd definitely come again next summer. Ellen was great and very generous with multiple suggestions for activities and food options in the area. Thx!

Amazing Property

The location is amazing. Views are best in Maine. We rented Kayaks that were delivered and picked up from dock. We rented a 22 foot boat and kept at deep water dock. Host was excellent. Provided restaurant recommendations, Kayak rental numbers, had lobster delivered to the house. She is great. Will definitely rent again

Wonderful stay on Westport Island

Our large extended family (young adults to 80+) had an awesome time at this lovely home. The lightening fast internet and smart TV was appreciated by the young adults, and the beautiful view and ample seating was a bonus for all. The dock was perfect for our 26 foot motor boat - which was very useful for zipping over to several of the nearby restaurants in Bath, Robinhood, and Boothbay Harbor. The huge kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed and the gas grill was definitely used and enjoyed. Ellen, the host, was very attentive and checked in on us multiple times, and made several useful recommendations. We will definitely return!

The host, Ellen, was wonderful to communicate with - leading up to the stay and once we arrived. Each time we reached out to her, she immediately responded. She also gave us wonderful ideas of places to go and things to do around the area. We lucked out with beautiful weather and took advantage of the delivery service of kayaks and paddle boards to spend time on the water just off the dock. We grilled tons of food for dinners for our large group, but we did have to spend a significant amount of time cleaning the grill as it was quite dirty upon arrival. Otherwise, the kitchen had all that we needed for preparing food for all of us. The views from the house were just incredible. Thank you so much!

Good Service but a bit outdated and far

Ellen was great and communicative and very helpful throughout. The house is a bit outdated which is not evident from the pictures. A lot of the pots and pans were dirty and had to be washed before use. The outside is absolutely stunning! The biggest drawback is how far it is from anything you want to do. It's close to 20 minutes to get to Wiscasset and 45 to get to boothbay etc etc. This was challenging with children. If your plan is to stay at the house more this house is fantastic!

In my 32 years of renting… this is the first review that I have had that has been less than 5 stars, so I am obviously disappointed. The house is over 200 years old… built in the late 1700”s and has been completely updated. These guests from Beverly Hills California are obviously not used to an old historic cottage. Upon their arrival for their 4 night stay… they saw the sun for about 5 hours. For the rest of their stay, they were totally socked in with rain and fog for the entire time… with kids to entertain… which is probably the reason that every toy in the cottage was pulled out and left in the middle of the rooms… so I can understand that they would not give me a five star review.

A TRULY MAINE COTTAGE EXPERIENCE

This cottage and property holds a very special place in my families heart! We have stayed here several times over the past 10 years and it is like coming home when we walk through the door. The views are spectacular, the house is clean and beautifully decorated, it is well outfitted and extremely comfortable. The wild life is awesome and every day is a wonderful experience. Ellen, the owner is kind and generous with her time and advise and is only an email away if you have a question. She knows many wonderful places to eat around the area as well. I highly recommend this outstanding cottage to anyone who truly wants a special Maine experience.

A favorite family vacation!

We hated to say goodbye to our stay here! This was the perfect spot for our large family and age ranges. The views are the best that we have every experienced at a rental home. Ellen was outstanding in her communication with us and was extremely helpful with her recommendations on restaurants, activities, etc. The outside cooking area was key to our meals - complete with the grill, griddle. lobster pot and picnic tables. We rented a boat for the week and enjoyed having the convenience of our own dock. We had a few toddlers and 5 year olds in our party and they loved the play house, child size Adirondack chairs, and the lawn to romp around on. We couldn't have been happier and plan to book this property again!

Multi Generational Family Vacation

The house and location were perfectly suited for our family. Pictures of the property and views can not capture the real beauty. Wiscasset and Boothes Bay Harbor were great for dining and shopping. Ellen supplied us with excellent recommendations for local dining and activities including a top notch fishing guide who picked us up at the pier on the property. We cooked breakfast on the large outdoor gas griddle, had s,mores around the fire pit and ate several meals outside including our Maine lobster and clam boil. The house well equipped to handle the ten adults and children in our family. Thank you Dana and Ellen.

The Best Summers of My life

The house has the best view on the island. Every morning I wake up to watch the seals play on the rocks below. The birds play in front of the windows as if they where putting on a show. Afterward I like to make breakfast and the kitchen is stocked with everything I need. All the kids like to play outside because there is plenty of ocean front land for outdoor games and picnics. This house is perfect location for exploring Maine. Booth Bay Harbor is a quick drive north and there are many wonderful towns in between to visit. All the bedrooms are unique and comfortable. They all have lots of light and fresh Maine air. There is lots of room for a large family to spread out along the house. The large front porch is my favorite for cocktail hour. At the end of a big lobster dinner my family always makes a big fire on the point to watch the boats come in and end our day truly relaxed. This house has it all!

Ellen is an amazing host She went out of her way to provide a superior experience; from delicious coffee to fishing poles. The home is older, so be prepared to walk upstairs to get to bedrooms and a few bathrooms. The stairs were the only thing that a couple of our family members had a tough time with. All of the plumbing is updated and both toilets and showers had great water pressure. The water is also filtered with a UV light so we were able to drink from the faucet and their watercolor. There are plenty of places to sit for meals and to visit while enjoying the gorgeous views. There are a few binoculars to use but I would recommend bringing your own set if you have them because there is so much to see. The house is in a remote location, but so are most places in the area, plan on driving about 15-20 mins to get to the grocery store. We were able to connect with a local lobster fisherman and get fresh lobster to cook up at the house. We spent most of our days taking day trips and exploring the Maine coast! Ellen is a wealth of information for places to visit and things to do. I would recommend staying here with your family to create wonderful memories. We traveled for a family vacation with 12 people; 7 adults & 5 children ages 2.5-12. We had so much fun!! Thank you so much Ellen!

This cottage has been in my family since the 1920”s. It was built in the late 1700”s,…but has been updated, added on to and improved, since we purchased it in 1978.

3.5 acres of privacy...yet close to all of the attractions that the mid coast area ofMaine has to offer...SPECTACULAR VIEWS!!!!
A private dock and the perfect spot on the Maine Coast, to make Memories!
