An excellent venue for a family trip

We booked The Goodlake Barns as a place for our families to stay during our wedding and it was the perfect choice. The barns are spacious and comfortable, and the communal area is great for people to gather. There's also plenty of outdoor space for barbecuing and playing games. Everything was spotless and several of the rooms had AC units. Michelle was really responsive to our queries. The surrounding area is beautiful and peaceful. We and our families really enjoyed the time we spent here and we would recommend the barns to anyone needing somewhere to stay near Oxford.

Our stay at Goodlake Barns in Shellingford was fantastic from start to finish. We chose it as the venue to celebrate a special family birthday, bringing together relatives and friends from all over the world, and it couldn’t have been a better choice. The location was ideal—peaceful, picturesque, and easy for everyone to reach. The accommodation was comfortable, spotlessly clean, and well-maintained, making it easy for everyone to relax and enjoy the week together. There was plenty of space for our group to gather, celebrate, and create lasting memories. It provided the perfect setting for such a special occasion, and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, welcoming place for a family celebration or group getaway.

Great place to stay

This place was really good for a family reunion. Location wise it was a short drive to the facilities of Faringdon and Wantage with some nice local walks from the house.

Excellent accommodation

We rented all the cottages for a family get together. Every cottage was spacious, well fitted out. The lounge area had comfortable sofas . The beds were very comfortable . All of the cottages were very clean and warm. Kitchens were well kitted out. The Barn provided an excellent place to get together for our family meals. Idyllic location and near local attractions. Would definitely return to stay here.

Ideal situation for a large family gathering.

We greatly enjoyed the facilities provided. Points for improvement:- - earlier check-in time. 1700 too late for families with young kids. - recycling needs highlighting in guest information file. And recycling facilities need increasing and clearly marking.

An excellent place to stay

We were a party of 25 adults and children and occupied every barn. The hub was brilliant in allowing us to all socialise together while having our own spaces too. The barns were clean and well equipped- milk , tea bags and even a cake were provided. The outside area was safe for the children to play. The facilities for a baby were great with plenty of high chairs and a travel cot provided. In summary we thoroughly recommend Goodlake barns - especially for a large group

Leadership Team offsite in a beautiful setting

This is the first time I have arranged self catering for the company's Leadership Team offsite. Feedback has been incredible. The location and setting of the barns / cottages is so peaceful. The layout and decor of the accommodation is also fabulous and we are already looking to plan our next stay and come back. We hired the whole property and there were 14 of us. Would thoroughly recommend Goodlake Barns - amazing stay - THANK YOU x

Lovely place to stay

We had a great stay at Goodlake Barns. The barns are all spacious and well equipped. The Hub provided the perfect place for our large party to gather and celebrate my 70th birthday together. All the barns had a Christmas tree in them which was such a nice festive touch. The weekend could not have been better!

A Great Weekend

Goodlake Barns is an excellent venue for a large gathering. A lovely communal area to gather in. An excellent kitchen with plenty of utensils to cook in. A lovely large area where we all sat to eat, then moving into a large comfortable lounge for a social gathering. The individual barns were comfortable to sleep in. Also plenty of outside space to sit in when the sun came out. Highly recommend. It was a lovely gesture to put milk and biscuits in each barn. Also all barns were well equipped with cleaning materials.

A perfect property for a large family gathering

We hosted 26 adults at Goodlake Barns for 2 nights to celebrate a 'significant' birthday, and it really could not have gone any better. These cottages with multiple bathrooms (and no bunk or sofa beds) are perfect for adults looking for luxury. The Hub (with Air Conditioning) was fantastic for sit down meals for all 26, although we also used the outdoor furniture in the courtyard extensively, seating all our guests along one long table. Everyone was blown away by the quality of the accommodation and the delightful location right in the hamlet of Shellingford. We even managed a 6 mile circular walk along public footpaths starting and ending at the barns. Each barn is delightful and together offer a variety of bedroom and living room options, but the first prize is to take all five barns (as we did) with sole occupancy. For a large group of adults wanting to stay in beautiful Cotswold surroundings it is hard to imagine finding anywhere better.

Fantastic family reunion

28 of us aged from 1 to 83 got together at Goodlake Barns for a long awaited four generation family reunion. There are very few places where you can get this number of people together in one place with suitable accommodation for all. And the added benefit of 'The Hub' room where we could all meet and eat together. Everyone commented on the high quality of the accommodation and facilities.

Family Reunion

We found Goodlake Barns to be a perfect location for our family reunion weekend. The barns were all very well equipped, clean and spacious - each with a good supply of useful sundry items and a welcome pack which was a nice surprise! The Hub provided an excellent space for rowdy children if they weren't in the garden and enabled us all to eat together in the evenings.

Homely

A lovely comfortable HOME for the weekend. Close to local shops for forgotten purchases but equally feels secluded enough to feel removed from reality! Everyone very responsive with any queries and made for a fantastic weekend away for a 40th celebration. This was not my first nor will it be my last time here!

A fantastic weekend away

We had a fantastic weekend away at Good lake Barn, celebrating Mum’s 70th birthday. The location is beautifully peaceful, surrounded by lovely countryside and great walks. The barn itself was spotless, really well set out and equipped with everything we needed. Each family had their own space, with a large function room that was perfect for everyone to gather together. Communication with the hosts was excellent throughout. We even hired a private chef for one night, which made the weekend feel extra special. There are plenty of charming pubs just a short drive away too. All in all, a perfect weekend for a big family get-together. Couldn’t recommend it more!

Family Christmas Getaway

What a lovely weekend we had at Goodlake Barns. More than enough room for all of us to enjoy company together as well as individual space and the kitchen was well equipped for our needs. We throughly enjoyed the hub, the only nit pick would be is there needs to be more lighting in there as at night it was a bit dark. We are looking forward to coming back next year.

An excellent early Christmas escape!

This is my second year of hosting my annual Christmas weekend for friends from across the country at Goodlake Barns. We had 26 of us this year and 24 last year. Goodlake Barns provides everything we need - flexible accommodation, excellent group social spaces, superb self-catering/kitchen facilities and the Hub gives us a space where we can all sit together for a fabulous Christmas dinner. The team at Stay Cotswold are fantastic and Shelly the property manager has always been incredibly accommodating and welcoming. Highly recommended and we are very likely to return again next year! We've tried a number of other properties across the country previously and Goodlake is the only one we've booked on more than one occasion!
