Comfortable stay with incredible views

We had a lovely stay at North Vat. The house was beautiful, light, spacious and very comfortable, with incredible views from the dual-aspect rooms. The location was fantastic for exploring Dungeness and perfect for a family stay with our dog. We’d happily come back!

Incredible!

We stayed at North Vat in Dungeness. What an incredible property in an incredible location! We loved every moment of it. North Vat may be one of the most beautiful houses I have ever stayed in (and that is saying something!). It is flooded with light on even the dullest days, the floor to ceiling windows bring the outside in, and it is so wonderfully designed with such brilliant attention to detail that it feels extremely luxurious. Dungeness is just awesome; the beach, the sea, the ever-changing sky, the austere and compelling power station, the wildlife (we saw foxes, rabbits and of course many many birds), the tiny railway and the tiny plants and lichen. Everything looks like art and it is an artists paradise for sure. I 100% recommend North Vat, Dungeness and Bloom Stays who did all they could to make our trips just wonderful. Thank you ❤️

Wonderful Location

North Vats gated garden made our stay very enjoyable. The views from every window and door were stunning. Its location adjacent to the lifeboat station made for interesting watching especially as at the time of our stay was filming going on for a promotional film for the RH& D railway. This is our fourth stay on Dungeness so we are already sold on the location, the Fish Shack and the peaceful and still nights. We found the mezzanine bedroom to be stuffy during our stay and the rooflight didn’t help with ventilation. This was in late August after the extreme heat. We liked North Var, particularly the garden and location, however as a family of six adults there wasn’t as much space or bedroom storage as we had thought there would be. There were just six of most things which meant regular washing up and this could ne easily sorted.

Lovely weekend stay

Beautifully decorated house, comfortable rooms, wonderful views from all rooms. Important to know that mezzanine bedroom has no blinds, os eye masks would be helpful.

What a beautiful spot to dial out from it all! It is an oasis in the only desert in the UK!

Had a fabulous time exploring the local coastline and all the different sights / tastes that Dungeness Estate has to offer, including fresh fish, the miniature railway and the lighthouse. We also spent time in nearby, beautiful Rye and indulged in some great food there at the Fig, followed by further evening entertainment in the Grapevine Jazz bar, which had a fantastic atmosphere. Rye is also worth a look for the shops too, some lovely places to browse around. A stunning beach walk at Camber was a highlight and the big sky, star gazing from the house was spectacular! we'll be back!

Beautiful North Vat

For a lovely house that overlooks the sea you would expect comfortable garden furniture to enjoy the views. Would have been nice to have extra crockery not just 6 of everything. Surprised beds did not have mattress protectors as mattresses were stained, particularly the front bedroom. Coffee machine leaked and two parts of the toaster did not work. Not all light switches worked either. Upstairs bathroom needed work where paint flaking. We use Boutique Retreats a lot and the house lacked their quality control. That being said we had a really lovely stay in a beautiful house. Would definitely stay again - thank you.

Great Stay

Perfect location, close to amenities. The house is beautifully done, with a very minimal lay out. The weather was torrential most of the weekend, but with a house like this it could be enjoyed no matter the weather.

Dungeness never fails to delight, with it's moody weather and fantastic landscape

North Vat is in a amazing location, with stunning views of the sea and surrounding area. The building is minimalist but comfortable and designed so that you where ever you position yourself you have can see the glory that is Dungeness.

Feedback

Really lovely property to stay in, we had a great time and communication was fantastic. Just a few things that would have made our stay even better - we would have appreciated washing up liquid and surface spray to help us clean after meals. - there were no chopping boards - very few tea towels - both showers created very wet bathrooms to use which was tricky with a group

Beautiful and stunning views from this property

North Vat is a fabulous property in a fantastic position on Dungeness, an absolute gem of a place to totally escape every day life! We loved being cosy in the house, great log fire and looking out onto the stark desert / perfect evening. Bring everything you need and snuggle down, warm and welcoming place, all mod cons.

north vat is a beautiful property which my guests and i enjoyed staying in. there were six people staying at the house, which is probably two too many, and everyone loved the design and the location. every window is like a picture postcard and watching the weather and sky changing around you one of the highlights of the stay.

Perfect location

North Vat is in such an excellent location. Stylish bright house,( you definitely need the eye masks), well equipped, a great house for exploring the area. The gorgeous big windows bring the outside in, whatever the weather. We had typical mixed British weather & it was so great to watch from the comfort of the house. Highly recommend.

Perfect stay at North Vat

Our stay at North Vat was fantastic! The space is absolutely incredible, with so much natural light pouring in during the morning - truly a beautiful way to start the day. The design is thoughtful and stylish, making it a really special place to stay. The only small downside was that the kitchen drawers were a little tricky, and we did catch our fingers a few times. But that’s a minor detail in an otherwise amazing experience. We will definitely be back - it's such an incredible space! Highly recommend for a unique and inspiring getaway.

Weird and wonderful

An amazingly designed house and in a location with an uninterrupted view of the sea, across the shingle. It made the most of the strange environment that is Dungeness. It was a stone's throw away from a great pub with a retro menu and close to the Snack Shack and Fish Hut. So much fresh sea food to eat. There's miles of lovely walks - and the brutalist-esque architecture of the power station to admire.

Dungeness Stay

We had a great stay at North vat towards the end of January this year, the weather was cold wet and wild, but that's what we wanted so we could hunker down in this beautiful property on the beach. Inside it is lovely and warm with underfloor heating throughout and great to top up with the log burner at night (loads of logs provided). The kitchen was well equipped for cooking each night, with a lovely big dining table for eating and playing games round. We didn't watch much of the big TV but it is a Smart so has most apps for streaming from your own accounts. The whole house was lovely and clean with everything provided. It was a real joy to spend a week here chilling, cooking, chatting and playing games. Just 2 observations, the kitchen could do with a bread knife and the upstairs shower was only warm on max, but don't let this put you off from booking. Thanks for a fab stay.

Wonderful North Vat

A property and location that triggers all the senses. The design consideration given to its surroundings is wonderful. So much light and movement throughout the day draws you to many changing views as the daylight shifts through the property. Walking out along the Dungeness estate offers lots of different architecture to admire and draws you into researching the local history, which is easily done through the considerate small collection of books in the house. Nearby are Rye and Camber, different offerings for those seeking the charms of a quaint town or a stroll on a long sandy beach, we enjoyed both! The house is excellently equipped with all you could think of needing during a short stay. The feeling of total relaxation was easily achieved over a few days at North Vat and we hope to return again later in the year.

Beautiful at North Vat

North Vat is a beautiful property, minimalist in nature and built to enjoy its surroundings. The light and atmosphere on the shingle beach is a wonderful sight, and we loved walking the local area. You feel very much away from it all, the perfect break for those wanting a little escape. It's close to beautiful towns like Rye, Camber Sands for sandy walks, and of course the surrounding nature reserves. Two local pubs were the perfect solace for cold winter walks. The combination of local fisherman and local artists gives this place a special feel. Our daughter loved hunting for shells and treasures on the beaches, right outside. We enjoyed the minimalist nature of the house. Beautiful architecture and position. The upstairs master does not have window blinds, which would be a problem for us if we stayed in Spring-Summer months. A bath is always preferable for our younger daughter, but again, we accept the architecture design of the house. The windows needed a good clean from the salt to fully enjoy the views. We would love to return - this is a gem in the local area.
