This was our second visit to the Little Coach House, the first being a ‘flying visit’. It provides the perfect location for us to stay whilst visiting our newly born grandchild. Having had a chance to read the information file more thoroughly this time, it is also a wonderful location for visiting Oxford and the surrounding area. Conveniently and peacefully placed in a beautiful village just minutes from Headington, Oxford, it’s clean, comfortable and has everything we need including being dog friendly.

finally a place that looks and feels like what one expects looking at the website!

It is simply 10/10 in comfort, privacy, location, and interaction with the host. A touch of welcome originality in the way the cottage is designed adds coziness and flexibility to the space available indoor. As for the outdoor space, it offers a sense of beauty and peace from morning to sunset.

Stylish retreat

Great little home in the Oxfordshire countryside. We didn’t want for anything as the coach house was well equipped and beautifully furnished. Highly recommend.

Beautifully converted, just a couple of small things

Really need a shelf in the double bedroom near the bed. Either a small one either side or on back wall as nowhere to put glasses, a phone or a book etc except the floor which wasn't great, especially as the space was very tight either side of the bed. Also while there were plenty of plates etc there weren't enough glasses for 4 people. Only 2 prosecco glasses and 3 tumblers for example. While these may have been broken by a previous booking, for each booking there should be enough of each for at least the number of guests staying. Apart from that we thought that the accommodation was very nice!

Beautifully converted, furnished , maintained and equipped. Stunning location- dog walks, farm shop and pub all within a short distance of the property. Quiet yet very accessible to wider attractions. Drive to park and ride and free bus into Oxford!

6 night stay

Amazing little coach house in the beautiful country side but only 5-10 mins from Headington as well as the Thornhill Park and Ride with buses down to London every 20/30 mins 24hrs. Carla and Richard are fantastic hosts who pay much attention to detail. The house was spotless and very well appointed. The grounds of the property are beautiful, quiet and private. The nearby (2min walk) Rectory Farm with cafe on site are a must visit. In fact we visited the cafe for coffee or brunch most mornings.

A Hidden Gem Near Oxford

We (a Dutch family) had a wonderful four-night stay at The Little Coach House with our two children and our dog. The garden was beautiful and, despite the dry weather this year, was exceptionally well maintained. Carla was a thoughtful and welcoming host who made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. One of the highlights of our stay was when she introduced us to the bell ringers at the local 13th-century church. We were even given the opportunity to ring the church bells ourselves – a truly unique experience and a memory we will always cherish. Within easy walking distance is Rectory Farm, where you can pick your own fruit, browse the lovely farm shop, and enjoy a drink or lunch at the café. The Oxford Park & Ride is also less than a 10-minute drive away, making it very convenient for visiting the city. We would highly recommend The Little Coach House and would love to return in the future. The Buijs family

Impromptu long weekend

We decided to go on a very last minute weekend away to Oxford. The Little Coach House was absolutely perfect for us as a family of 4. It was clean and had everything we needed for our long weekend. It was only a short drive to the nearest park and ride and also close to Blenheim, so the location was perfect. Our hosts were so kind by greeting us when we arrived and giving us ideas for places for us to visit during our stay. We have already recommended to friends and would absolutely stay again. Great Little Coach House

Excellent standard of accommodation. Great location to explore Oxford and surrounding area from. We were made very welcome and our dog too. Lovely farm shop & cafe within walking distance and a local pub.

What a treasure!

The gorgeous Little Coach House was perfect for our 3 days in the Cotswolds experience. Located on a large property with a fabulous farmshop yet within a village with a pub and restaurant. With guidance from our wonderful host we explored the region including Oxford, Burton on Water and the Internationally famous Farmers Dog! Thankyou for a wonderful stay

Great stay

Great property. Warmly welcomed by host. House was in a beautiful location. So quiet and peaceful. Everything you need plus the host had provided some wine, biscuits, crisps and milk. Which was such a lovely gesture. Would definitely come back :)

An idyllic escape

Exceptional and luxurious space in a beautiful garden and historic village. We had a very warm welcome from the owners and adored spending time in a place we immediately felt at home. Care has clearly been taken in the quality of materials and furnishings in this old coach house and it feels very loved !

Getaway

Very charming lovely and clean, the two main complaints for me was getting in and out of the bed no room between the bed and wall either side of the bed and taking a shower climbing in & out of the bath from a tight angle each side .

On our website, we do note in the full description that" The size of the bed does mean it can really only be accessed from one side, however, the comfort of it more than makes up for any slight inconvenience with accessibility". We also highlight under 'Points of Note' that we state "The stairs are somewhat narrow and steep and the bath has high sides to step into the shower, meaning this property may not be suitable for those with limited mobility." We do hope to see you in the Cotswolds again soon.

A stay in a special village

We’ve always loved Stanton St John and this was our first stay. Still loving Stanton St John. Our accomodation was just right for us, being a beautiful building, very neat and tidy and well equiped. Loving the stone walls and doors and stairs that are in keeping with the sense of history. Couldn’t get better parking in this small village, than provided by the Little Coach House. Can’t praise the village or the Little Coach House enough.

Stylish, cosy retreat

A very stylishly decorated and cosy, quiet retreat within a pretty village, a very short distance from the Oxford park and ride scheme at Thornhill. A treat to stay here. The owner provided some very helpful sightseeing tips, and left some thoughtful treats for us, including some Halloween chocolates on the doorstep for our teenagers on 31st Oct. The only downside was the heavy duty bolt on the OUTSIDE of the main bedroom door - not great for anyone of a claustrophobic disposition! Thanks again for a great stay.

Lovely cottage with great views

Easy to find with clear instructions, lovely little village with great local farm shop and cafe. The downstairs kingsize bed is hard to get into as there is a brick wall on both sides so need to climb from the bottom up. The underfloor heating didn’t warm us up at all, we had help to try and get it warmer but was set max 19 degrees when it was 1 degree outside- had to sit under blankets and coats! Great for a couple of days away and so peaceful!

Birthday break

The Little Coach House is perfectly located in a lovely village with everything you need within walking distance - The Talkhouse pub serving excellent food, especially the vegan pie! ; great village shop and excellent farm shop - plus beautiful country walks, yet only 10 mins from the Thornhill Park & Ride for easy access to Oxford and all the city has to offer. The cottage is lovingly and thoughtfully maintained by Carla and her team with all one could need for a comfortable stay plus welcome goodies including fresh milk from their farm shop - we felt at home immediately, a fantastic place to relax and enjoy some family time, thank you Carla.
