The place was in a perfect area for us. We were a family of 4 and we had enough room. The host was responsive anytime we needed them. We would stay here again.

The rental was great. We love how clean it was. The property very close to all the important attractions. The michiya was very spacious for our family of 4. There was a washer/dryer combo but it was not efficient. Luckily there is a nice laundromat 3 minutes walk, problem solved! Overall we had a fantastic stay.

My wife and I are very happy that we decided to spend a few days in this delightful house. Our stay gave us an insight into how the Japanese used live in the old-style wood-frame machiyas.This house was exactly as advertised. It had all the amenities and it was conveniently located in town. All the major sites were within walking distance.The hosts were great and the checkin process was very easy.We highly recommend this property. In fact, we hope to return in the future.

This property is conveniently located. Unfortunately, the layout of the house makes for a difficult experience. The main upstairs bedroom is accessed by narrow winding wooden steps. The toilet is on the lower level, meaning you have to go up and down these steps to reach it making it hazardous for older people. The shower is at the other end of the house on the lower level past the kitchen. Worse, the noise from neighbors upstairs could clearly be heard coming through the walls. One night the loud noises began at 7 pm lasting past midnight ending only after I contacted our hostess because I was unable to sleep. The noises happened both nights of our stay. Although our hostess apologized for the inconvenience and said she would speak to the neighbors, I cannot recommend this property.

Many traditional townhouses in Kanazawa are built with thin walls, and we are deeply sorry for any discomfort you may have experienced during your stay. We are currently working with our neighbours to find a solution, and the issue is expected to be resolved shortly. Whilst the staircase is wider than in most other traditional Japanese houses, we apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused whilst you were using the toilet. We sincerely hope that the rest of your trip in Japan will be a pleasant one.

Very cozy space, well located. The main bedroom is luxurious and the second is good if you're comfortable on futons. The property is well maintained and clean.

This lovely house was located within walking distance of all the Kanazawa sights. The house was beautifully decorated, clean and equipped with all the necessary appliances. The style of the traditional machiya house added charm to our stay.

This is a lovely and comfortable place. The space is organized in a slightly awkward way, but it's completely workable. The host is great at communications, and accommodated us with an early check-in. The small streets of this neighborhood are quiet and well cared for, and the machiya is very close to Kenroku-en Garden. Other areas are a short walk away. We very much appreciated being able to stay here.

Kanazawa Castle gem

A wonderfully authentic house 5 mins walk from Kenrokuen Gardens and Kanazawa Castle. It’s in a great residential area with a smattering of culturally interesting houses and temples hidden within. The house is impressively large with all the facilities you need (wash/dry washing machine, bath, shower, air con, microwave, coffee pod machine…). We really enjoyed this location and wished we could have stayed longer.

The house was clean and spacious and had everything we needed. The location was perfect for walking to everything we wanted to see, we only took the bus once to get there from the station. The interior was a charming townhouse. Our only complaint is the noisy neighbor was heard through the walls upstairs until about 11pm a couple of times. The only exrra things that would have made our stay perfect is a TV and a clothes iron.
