We enjoyed a comfortable stay in Rose cottage. Good base for discovering the Cotswolds. Within walking distance of Stroud. Lovely garden with a view. The cottage is well-equipped.

Warm, comfortable and full of character

We had a lovely stay at Bolthole Cottage. It was warm, clean, comfortable and beautifully presented, with modern appliances that made everything easy while still keeping all the character and charm of a historic building. The stairs are incredibly steep, but for us that added to the fun and character of the place rather than taking anything away. The outside area was also a real highlight, with lovely seating and beautiful views across the hills. There were lots of thoughtful touches too, including snacks on arrival, which made us feel very welcome, and the gorgeous-smelling posh liquid soaps. Overall, it really felt like we were staying somewhere premium. The local area was lovely to explore, with Stroud centre nearby — though it is worth noting it is at the bottom of a very big hill! A charming, comfortable and memorable place to stay.

We were really delighted with our choice of cottage for a family reunion nearby

Thankyou for making the cottage just perfect for our stay.We used it as a base for 2 days while at family wedding nearby. One special outdoor breakfast and a walk . All instructions were straightforward.Everyone very relaxed and pleased we had chosen this cottage Thankyou.

Superb cottage in a fabulous location

This is without doubt one of the nicest cottages we have ever stayed in. Plenty of room for 6 adults and our dog. Particularly impressed with how well equipped it was. Great pub, The Prince Albert, just up road and Stroud is just a 20 minute walk away and well worth a visit. Rose Cottage is spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated and furnished. Not a single thing to criticise and I am sure we will be back one day.

Long Weekend at Rose Cottage

Arrived to find Rose Cottage as we'd expected to find it; clean, cosy and comfortable. Located next to Rodborough church it was nice and quiet with nice views and sunny aspect. The pub is only 3 minutes walk up the road, the Prince Albert, and is dog friendly with a great vibe. Rodborough Common is at the top of the hill and only 10 minutes walk from Rose Cottage, great for dog walking and some lovely views. A good base to discover the south Cotswolds.

A great cosy cottage within walking distance of Strouf

A lovely cosy stay with old friends. A great dining table to sit around and enjoy a meal or glass of wine or two, although don’t bring too much food as the fridge is quite small. The garden is beautifully kept and the cottage has clearly been refurbished in the last year or two. We had a small problem with the shower which was very promptly resolved by the owner and there was true concern shown that it didn’t impact our stay, which it didn’t. We’d highly recommend a meal at the Woolpack in Slad and a wonder into Stroud for a coffee and to see the market.

Cosy weekend retreat

My siblings and I had a lovely weekend in Rose Cottage on our annual get together. It's super clean and has some of the most comfortable beds we have slept in. The cottage is very tastefully furnished and well appointed with everything you need. The log burner (and basket of logs -thanks) made it all very cosy too. There is ample parking below the cottage or on the main road. Highlights nearby were the Saturday Market in Stroud (foodie heaven) and food at the nearby Old Fleece pub was exceptionally good. The church that is adjacent to the cottage is well worth a visit too. Great spot and we all thoroughly recommend it. Thanks!

A Cotswold Getaway

We loved our stay and wish it could have been longer! Our host was so understanding, prompt in communication, we felt immediately at home upon arrival. We were able to locate the cottage just fine with clear check in directions - we did have to park up the street a fair ways. I will say that local delivery drivers (Deliveroo, etc) seemed to have difficulty locating the cottage despite us moving the place marker directly over the house on the map (I only say this for future guests to be prepared to perhaps flag down the delivery driver). Rose Cottage is in a beautiful spot with gorgeous views across a small valley and well connected for trails for walking and cycling. We especially loved walks through the Commons and found it to be a beautiful drive to surrounding villages and things to see. 100% would stay again!

Rose Cottage

Fabulous property. Needed to use What three words to find it so a little guidance on the location would be helpful. Inside it is cosy and everything was catered for in the house. Games to keep us amused, logs for the fire and ample towels and kitchen equipment. We sat in the garden on the supplied furniture with cushions. We needed to house our pet on the last day while we were out for lunch and they let us stay till 3.30 for no extra charge which was so kind. Thank you for making our weekend so lovely. Anita

Exceeded our expectations.

Exceeded our expectations. Rose Cottage was just a home away from home. Loved the added touches like the old style radios and the Denby pottery. Everything was pristine.The beds were so comfy and the kitchen had everything you could wish for. Even had baby bowls, beakers and cutlery plus the boxes of lego went down a treat. We loved coming home every evening. Thank you to Ruth for the welcome basket and milk in the fridge...that was just the icing on the cake. Had a wonderful 7 Days and would give 10 stars if possible. Thank you all again .

The perfect cottage getaway

We stayed for a couple of nights over the Easter holidays with two children (12&11) and had a wonderful time. The cottage is very pretty with a lovely little outside space. If the weather was a little warmer it would have been the perfect spot for a BBQ (provided) with a stunning view over the valley. The church sits just behind the cottage which makes for a a stunning backdrop. Inside the cottage is very clean and freshly decorated. The kitchen is extremely well equipped (even has a cake stand!!) which made things so much easier. There is a lovely wood burning stove which would have been a treat to enjoy on colder days. The common is very close and offers a great place to walk with beautiful views. We did a bit of kayaking while we stayed which was great fun. All in all a wonderful trip :)

Lovely character cottage with some short comings

It's cute. The garden is lovely and the owners have done what they can to make it comfortable. However, it is very musty with damp in the kitchen. This is during summer when it has not rained for weeks. We emptied ten liters a day from the kitchen dehumidifier. The steps to the upper level are very steep and one of the bedrooms is next door to the church and the all night bells. There were no fans and it was very hot. I slept on the couch downstairs. I wouldn’t rent again unless it was a couple

Your valuable feedback has been shared with the owner, who has confirmed that the kitchen is being addressed and the walls are being treated. They will also ask their housekeepers to ensure the dehumidifier is emptied ahead of each arrival. Regarding the stairs, we understand how important it is to know what to expect. A 3D tour is available on our website to help guests view the layout in advance. We also include photos of the church and note in the description that Bedroom 2 overlooks the church and its graveyard. The owner has also taken your comments about fans on board and has confirmed they are in the process of ordering some.

Lovely cosy cottage with beautiful views

The cottage is beautiful they even left a gift for our doggy! The garden is at the front of the property with beautiful views and a lovely church behind. Unfortunately the garden is not dog friendly, there is a 6 foot drop to the pavement below with no high wall. The dog can also enter the graveyard which meant she could go for other dogs passing, it was difficult to have kept her on the lead the whole stay. We also had 2 toddlers and the garden wall is very unsafe for them. Not the owners fault I should have thought to check. Lovely garden to sit in and a super Webber BBQ to use. Cottage has everything you could possibly need.

On our website listing we state in our full description under the outside section "Well-maintained hedging and gravelled front area complete the garden which is surrounded by a low perimeter wall". Also under the points of note, "There is a low perimeter wall to the front of the cottage with a high drop beyond, dogs and children must be supervised at all times and not left unattended".

It is an attractive and well equipped cottage in a good location despite being on a hill. However, it would not be good for anyone with with mobility issues. You could say more prominently in your write-up that the stairs are extremely steep. The garden is sweet and well cared for. The bath was slippery so a grab rail would help. The main mirror in the bathroom needs lowering! And the top flight light switches need some explanation because they didn't immediately work.

A beautiful idyllic cottage.

Set in the quaint area of Rodborough, this is the most idyllic cottage. From the moment you step inside the front door you can feel the warmth of love and attention that has gone into making this the most comfortable stay you could wish for. Rose cottage is finished to the highest standard. All modern fixtures and fittings that are in-keeping with the look and period of the place. The cleanliness is exceptional. I had the most peaceful sleep in the most comfortable bed. What was an added bonus was waking up to the sound of wildlife. I would recommend staying here and I would return in a heartbeat, given the chance I would move in. :) Thank you Rose cottage for an amazing stay.
