The hot tub in the lower garden is working fine, it's location is clearly stated in the property details. We are in the process of installing a new hot tub in the upper garden which is still wrapped up and clearly not for use yet. Sorry but outdoor structures such as a hot tub enclosures will inevitably attract cobwebs at this time of year, we clear them regularly but they can return within a matter of hours. Sorry if the squirrels disturbed you, we are looking at ways to keep them out of the loft but as wildlife lovers we intend to do so humanely. This is a rural area and the occasional visit from local fauna is to be expected. Unfortunately the village pub is not currently serving food as the landlord has health issues. However, the Fox and Hounds and Saxon Arms are within a few minutes drive and both serve excellent food. There are also takeaway options from Dorchester that are happy to deliver here. Sorry but we cannot be responsible for the reliability of local businesses, especially in the current economic climate. The property has been redecorated within the past few weeks and as mentioned a new hot tub and gazebo is being installed. We of course try to carry out maintenance with as little disruption to guests as possible but there are times everything cannot be completed between stays. Loose ceiling lights will be on the list!

We're glad to hear you found the bed linen pristine, bed very comfortable and kitchen clean and well equipped. The property was redecorated and thoroughly cleaned after the previous guests departed. Unfortunately this meant the sofa could not be cleaned until the morning of your arrival so was still slightly damp. Having a high wool content, it can smell a little musky for a day or so, I can assure you this was not the smell of dogs.

Neither Vrbo’ s site or ours show pictures of "the rear of a property with large garden". Images show the garden as it is, nice, secluded and of a moderate size. The path is over 3' wide so not sure why you found this narrow. As stated on our website, the garden is accessed via steps so may not be suitable for elderly dogs. Many guests stay with dogs of all size and find the gardens more than adequate since there are miles of walks from our doorstep. If you required a large garden so you did not need to walk, why book this cottage? We suspect you relied on google images taken 13 years ago, before the cottage was built! Only Google have control over updates so please check photos from the owner when booking. We trust guests to wash up on departure, if this was not to your satisfaction our housekeeper would have run them through the dishwasher had you mentioned it. The only damaged utensil was a saucepan lid which had clearly been dropped. This was not evident prior to your stay but is too trivial a matter for us to care who did it, you have not been charged! Sorry you left early due to your dog being unwell, but we feel your negativity is at least in part due to you losing 2 days of your holiday. Nonetheless we are disappointed you feel we deserve a one-star rating because you failed to check details of the cottage you booked. Future guests will look at our five-star reviews and see your comments for what they are; a get back at us for your mistake!

So sorry the property had not been cleaned ready for your arrival. This was a very last minute booking and unfortunately housekeeping had not checked the system that morning. We did however respond immediately and the property was cleaned and ready within a couple of hours. At the time you did not say this was an issue and offered to go out while it was cleaned. We of course refunded the hot tub fee as we did not consider it fair you pay for the first night when it was not heated. As gesture of good will, we have also offered a free night accommodation should you wish to visit again. We're glad you enjoyed the lovely location and thank you for pointing out the maintenance issue to which we will attend.
