The Escape @ Ryedale House is part of an exclusive, private development with an onsite concierge in the heart of York's historic core beside the River Foss.

The Escape is situated on the fifth floor and can be accessed via the lifts in the lobby or by stairs. The open plan living, and kitchen area has been designed to the highest standards and includes premium Neff appliances as well as a De Longhi coffee machine. The apartment also benefits from a lovely external balcony, complete with outdoor seating.

The dining area seats 4 and backs onto the stylish living area with comfortable seating and large LCD TV. The high-quality wooden floors throughout the apartment also have the added benefit of underfloor heating.

The principal bedroom features a super king-size bed that can also be set as twin beds upon request plus an ensuite, complete with underfloor heating and shower over bath. The second bedroom also features a king-size bed and has an ensuite with a shower. There is a further w/c accessed from the hall.

The apartment also has the added benefit of an allocated, secure car parking space on-site.

Please note, Ryedale House does not have dedicated disabled access, such as wheelchair ramps.

Access to the building is via a couple of steps at the main entrance and also from the rear car park. Guests with mobility requirements should take this into consideration when making their booking.

If you’re planning to kick around York city centre, this is the place to stay. We loved being a less than 10 minute walk from it all. The location is ideal, and the flat itself is insanely plush. You can’t really tell from the photos, but this place is huge, especially by European/UK standards. The bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious, the kitchen is large, and the deck is awesome. Two bedroom, both with en suite baths, and a powder room to boot. The woman at the desk was also so lovely and helpful. I loved this place. The hosts were also easy to work with and check in was easy. We will absolutely be staying at Ryedale House in the future.

Another great stay.

This is our 3rd stay at Ryedale house . Each time we have stayed in different apartments in the block. We are 2 couples and find it exceptional value for money. Always spotlessly clean, perfect location for everything. Nothing is too much trouble if there’s an issue.Lovely comfortable accommodation. Can’t wait for our next visit.

Family half term break to York

We were delighted with space and location of The Escape @ Ryedale House. The allocated parking was a big bonus as was the size and standard of the property. The location was great to pop out for food and do some shopping with the family. We look forward to returning on our next visit to York.

Very comfortable stay in lovely flat in lovely building

We stayed in the flat over Christmas 2025. The flat was very clean, warm and well-equipped, with very comfortable beds. It had everything we needed for a lovely Christmas stay. The building is also really nice and very well located - very secure with friendly concierge and excellent parking and only a few minutes walk into the centre of York. It was nice to have the balcony, and although the view is a little limited, we still enjoyed it. All in all a really lovely place to stay.

City break

We had a great week in York. The apartment was lovely, spacious, well equipped, clean and quiet. The location is great, it is only a few minutes walk to the Shambles. Tesco, Sainsbury’s and M&S food are also only a few minutes walk away. The onsite parking space is a great advantage as parking in York can be difficult to find.

Spacious clean and fully equipped

Lovely apartment near the centre of York, fully equipped with everything you could possible need. Apartment sleeps 4 but I would say 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children as second bedroom is much much smaller than main bedroom. Although it is beautifully finished there is a lack of anywhere to put toiletries in the ensuite in the 2nd bedroom and shower sprays on to floor so be warned. Beds where lovely and comfy with quality sheets. Great utility with washer/dryer and ironing facilities. We weren't able to use the rubbish bin as the senor didn't seem to want to open? Apartment was warm and we needed to use the fans supplied most of the time. Street was noisy on some nights and early morning due to construction so either we were too warm at night with windows closed or woke with noise. The secure parking was excellent and a real plus. But it is a great location close to city centre and even with the heat/noise we would stay again.

Short break

Overal very pleasant, the balcony view was not as nice as the expected river view but still an adequate view of the city, prime location walking distance to tourist attractions all within 15 minutes, comfortable and modern and clean

Very nice apartment, as pictured. Convenient location, close enough to center but not right in it. Quiet. Downside: master bath shower is difficult, very hard to step into due to deep tub. Nothing to hold on to. Waterfall shower only, no hand shower. Leaked on floor. Shower in second bedroom better but could use some grab bars.

Escape: Ryedale House Review

Excellent flat, reasonably well furnished. The only issues were the lack of shelves in the bathroom which meant we had to put our toiletries on the floor and and lack of space for hanging clothes as the hall cupboard was locked. No other issues. This was our second stay at Ryedale House is well situated for a number of very good restaurants, the city centre and local landmarks.

City break york

Lovely apartment in picadily area of york quiet end of town but close enough for pubs and restaurants and a Tesco express just a five minute walk or less. The apartment was clean, had underfloor heating lovely wee veranda to sit with a drink (not much of a view). The veranda could have done with a bit of a clean but the apartment itself was spotless. Only thing that I would say is that the apartment was really hot, even after turning down the heating it still stayed between 24-26 degrees. We were out most of the time so didn't bother us too much. All in all a good apartment to stay in and very chic also had games to play if it was a horrible day out.
