Well equipped and laid out kitchen with all you need for cooking for 4. Fully fitted with electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, kettle, toaster and coffee machine and plenty of well planned cupboard space. From here step into the ….

Open plan living room with dining area
There is the textured flooring throughout and a comfy leather sofa and an upholstered armchair with footstool, ideal for watching the flat screen TV with Freeview and DVD player. The gas stove is ideal for the winter evenings and the heating and good insulation means that the house is cosy. Eat at the wooden dining table that easily seats 4. Conservatory
A lovely space, with cane seating for 4. Ideal to sit and enjoy the sunshine. The doors from here into the garden and into here from the living room have dog pawprint motifs so dogs can easily see them.

Bedroom 1
King size bed with pocket sprung mattresses. Wall mounted with flat screen TV with built in DVD player. Wardrobe storage space, side tables and lamps.

Bedroom 2
Twin beds with pocket sprung mattress, wardrobe, side tables and lamps plus a dressing table/desk. TV with built in DVD player also and views out into the rear garden.

Bathroom
Modern in style with a separate bath and walk in shower. Heated towel rail, toilet, storage and sink.

Garage
Dog crates and buggies are stored in here for guest use if you need them as well as wipe clean dog beds. There is a freezer for guest use – useful if you feed raw. Barbecue is in here too with a bucket of sand (hopefully you won’t need it!) The grooming kit is stored in here too for your use as well as many of the other items in our “For The Dogs” section above.

There is a range of items useful for any holiday such as cool box, picnic basket and blankets, fold up camp chairs and a couple of sun loungers.

Short break at Swallowdale

The bungalow was ideal for a short break(2 adults & 2 Labradors). The welcome pack was the best ever! The area was really quiet and location good for getting out and about.

2nd stay

This was our second visit to Swallowdale and we felt immediately at home as soon as we pulled into the driveway. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need and the welcome pack is second to none. Our dog loves the enclosed garden and walking along the quiet lanes is so peaceful. Can highly recommend Bacton beach, even on a warm Saturday afternoon it was quiet and lovely to see the seals swimming along. Had a couple of nice meals in The Crown, nice to have a friendly pub just round the corner. Sure we will return again.

A short autumn break.

First holiday away with our reactive lurcher cross. He settled immediately and did not respond to any sounds at all. Swallowdale was all we expected and more. Warm, cosy, comfortable and well thought out.. The welcome packs for humans and dogs were greatly appreciated. Would love to return.

Perfect for pooches & people

Our first stay with ERC- down in Norfolk for annual Basset Beach invasion. Cottage perfect for our purposes - everything a dog could require was provided! Sofa stairs, cool mat, crates , buggies, rigid doggie paddling pool….you name it, it was there. Great location for beaches, forests, countryside walks. Very comfortable for humans too. Highly recommended

Five stars all round.

Great cottage in a very peaceful location. Very generous welcome pack. Comfortable and well equipped with lots of throws and gear for dogs. We have been staying in places managed by East Ruston Cottages since shortly after Sue Allen forned the best organisation in the universe. ERC rules.

Happy, relaxed stay

This was our second stay at Swallowdale. Comfortable, and a quiet location, makes this a relaxing place to stay. The location is ideal for short drives to the beach, several National Trust sites, as well as shops in North Walsham or Cromer.

Swallowdale, Trunch

A very last minute booking at this East Ruston Cottages property. A lovely bungalow in a quiet location. Excellent welcome hamper, full of delicious goodies and treats for the dogs. The property has special flooring for dogs (non slip) which was a great addition for our elderly dog. Also, in the garage was almost everything you can think of to make your holiday with your dog as easy as possible, steps for the sofa, buggies for dogs, doggy hair dryer, and much more. We had a lovely stay and had several visits to the beach. Would definitely recommend this property

Swallowdale- excellent place!

This was the most amazing, relaxing place to stay. Very impressed with all the little details making it a home from home experience. So well set up for dogs, I was blown away! They really have thought of everything. The welcome pack for humans and dogs was stunning. Everything you could want in there. Close to lovely long walks and beaches. Local pubs lovely and dog friendly. You couldn't want for a nicer experience

Great location & welcome package, shame about the cleanliness.

This was our fourth stay at Swallowdale & everything was welcoming & as comfy as it has been during our other stays. The amount of thought for the comfort of our dogs is wonderful & it is so convenient to have dog ramps, mud-daddy & sofa steps all available to use, rather than trying to find room in the car. The welcoming package for both humans & dogs was thoroughly appreciated, & it’s great that both contain all local produce. Our main concern this time was the lack of cleanliness across the whole property. I do not expect to go away & have to, as soon as I arrive, clean the bathroom from previous usage. The kitchen surfaces had not been wiped, the hob was oily & the drainer, washing up bowl & brush were stained & full of bits! I think the last 2 have been there since our first visit! The hoover looked as though it hadn’t been emptied for a month & it definitely hadn’t been used to suck up the multitude of cobwebs around the property. It’s a shame that the care taken for the dogs is not reflected in the standards for the humans. For the price we paid we expected higher standards.

A perfect week- Swallowdale is very well equipped and spotlessly clean. An amazing welcome pack on arrival for us humans and for the dog. Out of all the dog friendly accommodations over the years Swallowdale is by far the best. Would definitely recommend and hope to return.

Turned up and the sun was out. Unfortunately the weather got gradually worse. Swallowdale is a great place, geographically and comfort wise. We never wanted for anything. Third visit and sixth to Norfolk (last four with East Ruston). Highly recommended.

Wonderful stay

I took my 2 rescue dogs with me for my birthday to Swallowdale, I decided on Swallowdale after reading lots of great reviews, my dogs needs came first, being rescue dogs from abroad I wanted a quiet and secure place for them to relax and my choice was excellent, the dogs enjoyed the garden where spent time watching the birds. The walks in the village were lovely, quiet with not too much traffic. The village pub was welcoming to me and the dogs and do a delicious pizza. The welcoming pack was lovely, as it was my birthday I also received a gorgeous bouquet of flowers delivered on my birthday which was such a thoughtful thing to do and very appreciated. Never had that before! So thank you!! Everything that you could imagine was provided for especially for the dogs. The bungalow was spacious and clean, the bed was very comfortable. We were close to the Bure Valley railway so we went on that, we spent time doing a part of the coastal walk starting at Mundesley and also visited Bacton Woods which I recommend too.

Lovely weekend away

We had a lovely long weekend staying at Swallowdale. The accommodation was exactly what we required with the access to the garden from one of the bedrooms. An amazing Welcome Pack was left for us. The cottage was in a good quiet area but close enough to all the various beaches to walk our dogs on.

The bungalow was very well equipped and very dog friendly. The welcome basket was very much appreciated. We ate at the village pub a couple of times and found the food was tasty and very reasonably priced. The pub is dog friendly!

We had a super last minute break at Swallowdale. Our second stay and it disappoint. The property is real comfortable and well equipped for all you would need. The garden is completely secure. A great location for walks and visits to the beach. We look forward to coming back, again.

Very clean and well maintained

We booked a short stay at short notice at Swallowdale as we hadn't been away since March. Lovely bungalow located not far from the North Norfolk coast. Everything we needed was provided.... even a paddling pool for the dog which he was thrilled about! Very clean and well maintained and very dog friendly. Would highly recommend.

Lovely quiet area

Trunch is a very quiet peaceful village which suited us fine. Swallowdale was an exceptionally good property, probably the best equipped we had ever rented. The welcome pack was extremely generous and our dog loved the goodies left for him. There was nothing we could fault with this property and we hope to return.

A wonderful stay

I stayed at Swallowdale for a long weekend with my mum and our 2 dogs. It was such a perfect property for us! There was everything we needed and more. We felt so at home and our dogs loved it. The quiet walks from the door were great, we were sad not have have longer there to explore. The property was so dog friendly, having dog beds, blankets and crates we could use saved lots of packing space. The garden isn’t huge but so secure, we had no worries about letting them outside. We hope to come back next year!
