For nature lovers, the surrounding estuaries and pristine shoreline offer exceptional opportunities for exploration. The area is home to one of the largest osprey populations in the United States, along with a remarkable variety of wildlife. Depending on the season, you may see piping plovers, great blue herons, sandpipers, bald eagles, ducks, swallows, owls, and many other bird species.
The river is ideal for swimming during the warmer months, while autumn brings excellent hiking and waterfowl hunting opportunities (in accordance with all applicable regulations). The area is also a paradise for triathlon training, with miles of open-water swimming, quiet country roads for cycling, and scenic routes for running.
