This place was so relaxing! We had a busy weekend in Houghton, but it was so nice to come ‘home’ to this place. It was beautiful, comfortable, and close to Houghton. We would love to stay again in the future, where we can enjoy the amenities more, and hang out there longer. It was so nice!

Had a great stay at the property, one of the few times I have found a place that exceeded the description. The amenities provided were seriously the best I've experienced in hundreds of stays. Wesley obviously takes pride in being a host.

We greatly enjoyed our 5-night stay at the lake house! Wesley, the host, was very responsive to our questions and wonderful to deal with. The house was extremely clean, comfortable, and well equipped. The backyard and lakefront are beautiful; watching the sunrises over Portage Lake from the gazebo deck was spectacular! The sauna was clean, well equipped, and felt wonderful. The house is close to the road, but traffic drops off greatly at night and did not disturb our sleep. We would certainly stay here again.

Beautiful home. Clean. Comfortable beds. Well equipped kitchen. Lakefront is outstanding. Nice deck. Beautiful gazebo. Sauna was fun. Only negative was highway noise.

The house was clean and very spacious! The bedrooms were spaced out so we didn’t disturb others when they were sleeping. We could come together in the spacious living room and kitchen. The yard was beautiful with all of the fall leaves and there was plenty of room for the kids to run around. Can’t wait to stay again and probably in the summer so we can enjoy the beach/water.

Great place!

Great spot on the lake! Beautiful view. Sandy and shallow so kids can swim, yet easy for them to paddle board or kayak out. The house is nice, clean, and spacious! Large bedrooms and a well-kept kitchen. Would stay here again!

House on Portage Lake

A very comfortable place to stay. Kids enjoyed the kayak and bike. Beautiful walking trail along the lake. Well-supplied house and lovely gazebo. Great location for day-tripping the Keweenaw Peninsula and Porcupine Mountains. We would like to stay there again sometime.

Memorial weekend

Beautiful cabin on an equally beautiful lake. Short distance to the ORV trails. Wesley was very accommodating to our group with 4 trucks and trailers. The sauna was very nice and there was plenty of room for everybody to sleep comfortably.

A relaxing getaway or base for exploring the Keweenaw

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property! The house was spotless when we arrived. Although we were usually out and about experiencing the Keweenaw Peninsula, the house on Portage Lake was a relaxing place to return to each evening. There were 5 of us- my husband and I, my parents, and our 13yo nephew, who enjoyed fishing off the dock with his grandpa, basking in the sauna with his uncle, and kayaking. My mom and I loved the view. I don't think we turned on the TV even once the whole week. It's a great spot for an "unplugged" vacation, though the high speed WiFi works great and we had excellent cell service (Verizon). There are many places in the Keweenaw Peninsula where I was glad I'd downloaded offline maps so we could still navigate in GPS mode, but we had a strong signal at the house. Although the house has a nice "cottage-y" feel, Houghton is just 10 or so minutes away with everything you could want: Walmart, Walgreens, fast food, restaurants and coffee shops. The house includes everything you need for cooking, plus towels, sheets, and plenty of extra blankets, so all we needed to pick up was meals for the week at Walmart and bait, which many gas stations have. The room with the nautical theme is on the side of the house facing the lake. All 3 bedrooms are really nice, though. The room with the queen bed and daybed is the largest and the half-bath is in the hallway just outside it. The full bath is near the other two rooms. My husband really enjoyed taking a cool shower in the hot sauna, and our nephew would shower out there as well, so really just my parents and I used the shower in the house. It was nice having options for everyone, and no one ever had to wait. There are games and puzzles in a closet off the dining room. It would have been fun to take some out to the enclosed lakeside gazebo if we'd been around more. The gazebo has furniture to sit on and a small table. In the yard are chairs around a campfire ring. In the basement is a washer and dryer, and it was wonderful that we were allowed to use it so we didn't have to pack as much. We did just a couple mid-week loads and were good to go for the rest of the trip. The house is centrally located in the peninsula, which was nice since our daily excursions took us anywhere from Copper Harbor to the Porcupine Mountains. It wasn't much more than an hour to get anywhere we went during the week. It was a comfortable, welcoming house, and we would definitely stay there again.

Lake House

Lake Portage gem

This home was exactly what we expected. Beautiful view, friendly neighbors. We loved walking the path in the mornings, watching the eagle, and just relaxing by the lake. We enjoyed everything!

Weekend Trip

Had a great time at Wes's place. House was very clean. Wes was very easy to deal with. Answered our question right away. We enjoyed the sauna and fire pit. Would definitely stay there again.

Would come back in a heartbeat!

We had a wonderful time! Great location, right on the water but also close to 2 towns with stores and restaurants and anything else you might need. Home was clean and had everything we needed. The sauna was amazing, we used it nearly every day! Fires every night were the perfect ending to our days at the lake. Thank you for sharing this great place!

Such a pretty spot!

Beautiful and cozy....the perfect place to unwind after some really long days. The sauna was perfect to melt away any stress and cooling down while gazing at the lake was so relaxing.
