Everything about this property was what I wanted for my birthday weekend! The cabin is cozy and in the woods. The fire pit was great for being outside at night and the walk to the river and the view there was just magic!

We purchased this trip as a gift for our parents for Christmas. They're in their late 60s and they had an amazing time. They said it was very relaxing and the cabin was super cute and well decorated.

Absolutely wonderful

Michelle and George were wonderful hosts and the cabin is gorgeous. We had a great time and would recommend staying here to everyone looking for peace and quiet!

close enough to beaches, but bring bug spray - mosquitos are size of birds - lol

It was a pleasure hosting you. I’m surprised to see your description on the mosquitoes. I don’t know if you were hiking deep in the woods after a heavy rain? Mosquitoes are not a daily occurrence at our place and typically after a heavy rain just Active right before dusk. We enjoy many outdoor activities regularly on our property, like sitting around the bonfire, swinging in a hammock, sitting out on a chair, looking at the woods and the deer turkey that come through regularly. But yes, Bug Spray is helpful if there is an issue and we are happy to provide that upon request. Thank you again for staying and hope to see you again!

Incredibly relaxing stay. The house had everything you need to relax. My husband fished in the Okefenokee Swamp while my pup and I relaxed. Would recommend!! Record player was a hit, host has great taste

We absolutely loved the cabin and property! It was the perfect getaway with our dog to relax and unwind. The cabin had everything we needed, and the fire pit and yard was so much fun! The boardwalk was really neat, but we were disappointed there wasn’t anywhere to set up chairs by the river. Would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a remote getaway location!

Peace and quiet

Adorable cabin tucked back in the woods. Very peaceful and calm. Sweet little towns nearby to explore. Not too far from Jekyll Island for a beach day.

Satilla River

We had a great four night stay! The river was out of its banks but we were still able to catch enough fish for a great fish fry!

Peace, quiet and nature filled stay!

We so enjoyed our stay and this was the perfect get away! We felt away from everything and the main area being on the second floor, gave such a wonderful view. First class boardwalk on the property taking you to the river, was just wonderful. We spent time on the property, as well as, easy trips to Jekyll Island and found a trail in Woodbine. We will be back to explore the river more by kayak and the next time we need to regroup with a heavy dose of nature!

Our weekend getaway was great in this beautiful cabin on a rural property. The cabin was very clean and nicely decorated. The bed was very comfortable. There were games as well as a record player with a good selection of vinyls to listen too. It was so peaceful and restful. We saw deer, boars, and an owl on the property. We walked on their boardwalk down to the river which was so peaceful and serene. We enjoyed the fire pit at night. We thought about kayaking the next day (which they offer) but went to Jekyll island and stayed the day there instead. The hosts were very responsive to any questions we had. The only issue we had was the dirt roads driving in/out (approx. 2 miles to cabin) in a 2-wheel sedan. My husband said it was like driving on a snowy highway, especially during the rain. However, next time we visit, we’ll be in vehicle with 4-wheel drive. But we definitely highly recommend this cabin/property.

The majority of the time, our road is easily drivable with regular two-wheel-drive vehicles. Perfect spot on the Satilla

Larry and I were participating in the Georgia River Network's Spring on the Satilla 2 day kayaking adventure and didn't want to tent camp - the guest house was such a perfect, restful place for us to lay our heads at the end of a long day on the water. Thank you so much for the detailed directions (follow those, folks) and the lovely lodging. We'll be back!

We loved the cabin. Walked to the lake on the first day and was surprised that the walkway just ended in the weeds with no dock or cleared bank. Maybe there was another path we didn't see. Was not a big deal. We ended up spending our time in the cabin and exploring the surrounding communities. Overall great experience and would reccommend this property.

Quiet secluded getaway

We stayed two nights for just a quick getaway from our busy lives. The cabin was clean, properly equipped everything you would need and beautifully decorated. They even had a Christmas tree and decorations for us to feel the holiday season. Our bonus surprise was Miss Marina, the outside family cat. With us already missing our kitties at home, this was a very comforting surprise. She was super friendly and affectionate and made our stay even better!

Retreat by the river

I spent a month at the retreat, and it was perfect. Shelby and George are great hosts and helped us kayaking a couple of times. The cabin has everything you need, and it's quiet and comfortable. I brought my dog, and she loved chasing the rabbits and deer (never gets close..). We took several walks on the road and down to the river. Thank you Shelby and George! I will be back.

Birthday Trip

Michelle is a great host who interacts with you as much as you want. The property is easy to find and as described in the posting. Our 2 dogs enjoyed their walks through the surrounding area as did we. Although more remote than I thought, it was an easy drive to get to Jekyll and St Simons islands.

Best Trip Ever

My wife and I stayed at this property for her birthday. After promising to take her to Okefenokee Swamp for 10+ years, we finally made the trip. It was the first time we had spent the night away from home since February 2020. We wanted a place that going to be quiet and secluded and away from people. We absolutely fell in love with the property. It ended up being the best trip that my wife and I have ever taken together. Cannot say enough positive things about the property and the owners. They were fantastic hosts. And we loved being there!

Great for day trips

The place was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped- we cooked all of our meals. Nice location for day trips. Lovely hosts.
