History of Villa Nani Mocenigo:
Villa Nani Mocenigo was built by the wealthy Venetian Nani Mocenigo family, seven of whose sons served as Doges of Venice
. Built in 1700, it was first restored in 1838, when all the Venetian terrazzo floors were restored; they remain very well preserved.
The villa’s south facade also underwent renovations ordered by Napoleon during his visit, as he wished to leave his mark with the Napoleonic eagle.
Another major restoration was carried out by the Ceccangeli family, who have now made the villa available for high-end tourism.
The villa was frequented by Gabriele D’Annunzio and Eleonora Duse, two internationally renowned figures.
A garden and a park featuring centuries-old trees enhance the stay of the villa’s guests.
