Nestled on the Dorback Estate in Nethybridge, Ellon Cottage is a warm and inviting two-bedroom hideaway, thoughtfully renovated to preserve its traditional charm. With pine flooring throughout the ground floor and tasteful decor blending the old and new, this compact cottage offers a truly unique and relaxing escape.

Soak in the wood-fired hot tub while taking in breathtaking views across the Dorback Estate to the distant Cairngorm Mountains, the perfect setting for al fresco dining or evening relaxation.

Please note: Ellon Cottage features traditional coombed ceilings. Taller guests (over 6 feet) will need to watch their heads!

Perfect, quiet retreat

Ellon cottage was the perfect place for a restorative vacation. Remote, quiet and scenic location. Well equipped kitchen and all comfortably furnished.

Amazing Stay

Our family had a wonderful stay at Ellon Cottage — it truly felt like a cosy home‑from‑home. The setting was everything we hoped for, with beautiful mountain views and daily visits from deer that made the experience even more magical. Its location was ideal for exploring the Cairngorms, giving us easy access to everything we wanted to see. The hot tub was a real highlight, perfect for unwinding after a day out. We also really appreciated the thoughtful welcome basket; the local produce was outstanding and absolutely delicious. Ellon Cottage gave us the perfect mix of comfort, scenery, and special touches — we honestly wished we could have stayed longer.

Lovely Spot in the middle of nowhere!

Had a lovely long weekend, middle of nowhere and the dogs especially loved it, cottage is Cosey and warm and loads of footpaths around the estate if you don’t want to go far

Stay in the caingirms

Ellon Cottage proved even better than the photographs showed. The cottage was spotless, and well equipped. It was a delight to stay here due to its cosiness and warmth.

Summer Holiday - August 2026

We had a fantastic stay at Ellon Cottage and would highly recommend it. The setting is absolutely beautiful, with amazing views and the opportunity to see deer and plenty of wildlife right from the cottage. It’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy the surrounding nature. The cottage itself was lovely and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The hot tub was fantastic, and having a good supply of wood provided for both the hot tub and the fire was a really thoughtful touch. The location is also brilliant, with some great walks nearby and easy access to mountain bike parks, making it ideal for anyone who enjoys the outdoors. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely love to return!

Sweet cottage in an idyllic rural spot overlooking mountains. Very clean and enjoyed the hot tub. Great place to base selves for Sking. Plenty of wood to make a fire for a cosy night in.

Beautiful Cottage

If you like solitude this is a great choice. Very clean and comfortable. The bedrooms are tight due to ceiling height so be prepared to watch your head. As an older couple we did struggle with the TV as we couldn’t get live TV, No instructions anywhere. We are app savvy but found it very frustrating , I think someone had messed about with it maybe should be checked after guests depart. Would I stay there again Yes

Escape to the wild

We thoroughly enjoyed the remoteness of this property and how beautiful the setting was. The living room and kitchen were perfect. We expected the bedroom to be small but we both struggled with the limited head height getting in & out bed. Sadly the hot tub was out of use for our stay which was a key factor when booking the property and so we were disappointed to not have used this as the days were sunny and the view was great. There are some small improvements that would take this property to the next level, pillows weren’t great, too thick and hard affecting your neck and the bathroom needs really modernising. That said, this is a stunning location if you like remote peaceful places.

Beautiful surroundings, great little cottage.

We had a lovely stay at Ellon. Set on its own with no one else around you, with a hot tub over looking the mountains makes this place very special indeed. Not too far from Nethy Bridge which has a fabulous little cafe, great farm shop and local store there for your convenience. Hard to fault it, but if I had to suggest one thing it would be that the bathroom could do with a little update. Thank you for a wonderful stay and I hope to come back sometime.

Cozy cottage in the Cairngorms

This little stone cottage was an absolute gem. Tucked at the end of a wooded lane, it felt wonderfully secluded yet was easy to find, and that drive in, with the trees giving way to the cottage surrounded by rolling pastures, set the tone for the whole stay. The setting is absolutely lovely with the Cairngorm mountains rising in the distance. Inside, the cottage was every bit as charming and well-appointed as described. Nothing was overstated, and it was spotlessly clean throughout. The kitchen was a real highlight: well-stocked with everything we needed to cook proper dinner after a day out exploring, which made the whole trip feel more like a home away from home. Honestly, our few nights wasn't enough! We'd return in a heartbeat and recommend this cottage without hesitation to anyone wanting a peaceful, authentic Highland escape.

A lovely spot

We spent a week in Ellon Cottage. The location was perfect for us. We enjoyed the ability to walk straight from the door and our dogs loved their stay. We saw lots of wildlife both in and from the garden as well as whilst on walks on the Estate. The house itself was very welcoming and the sofas in the lounge were comfortable. The decor in the kitchen could do with a bit of TLC, particularly the paintwork above the worktops. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider returning.
