FAMILIEVENNLIGT: Let adgang fra Lanai til Fairways pool og fitnesscentre. Viking BBQ i nedenunder Lanai. 4 små apparater og 7 større husholdningsapparater. Vores rækkehusvilla har det varme hjem, (ejerne elsker absolut den store ø!) og har lokale originale kunstværker fra lokale kunstnere, et fuldt udstyret køkken, 2 sofaer og saftigt læderlænestole i stuen; spisestue og gårdhave plads til 6. Cal. King seng i master og King bed gæst soveværelser. Master Bath har et stort walk-in bruser og boblebadekar. Hårtørrer i begge badeværelser knyttet til soveværelserne. Rummelig Lanai ud af master suite til at nyde din morgenkaffe, de syngende fugle og udsigt over de smukt anlagte grunde og bjergene i Mauna Kea. Gæstesoveværelse har badekar / bruser og eget tv med kabel- og DVD-afspiller.
FOR STRANDEN: Du har adgang til den private Beach Club, som er kronjuvelen på Kohala-kysten, som ligger en kort 5 minutters kørsel inden for udvejssamfundet på cykel eller bil til Makaiwa Bay (et snorkelunder!). Familievenlig med masser af strandfaciliteter, private toiletter og skiftende områder, der udelukkende er til rådighed til brug for condo-beboere. Napua Restaurant beliggende på stedet tilbyder frokost og middag efter en dejlig svømmetur / snorkel i bugten. Badehåndklæder, kølere, totes, boogie boards, snorkeludstyr, strandlegetøj og 4 stole, 2 mountainbikes leveres i enheden.

Comfortable stay

We had a comfortable stay. With a few updates such as appliances, couches, dining table and chairs this would be a really great place to stay. The property owner was very easy to work with and responded quickly.

Good value

Clean, convenient to great snorkeling, good beaches, quiet, well appointed. It was great to have a couple bikes to ride too. I would stay there again.

Despite photos showing 2 bikes, both were found to have flat tires. One held air and was usable, other was completely unusable. Host failed to respond to request to repair. Very disappointing experience.

Good value for Mauna Lani

Nice condo in great location. Beach club access makes this a great option as beach club is nice with snorkeling right in the bay. 10 minute walk to beach for great sunsets and grocery store half mile away. Could use a few updates but price was great value for high season. Would definitely stay again. Owners communicated well and fast with us.

This is a very pleasant location. We have stayed at the Fairways several times over the years & has a great location. The interior was clean ,but in need of some minor cosmetic touch ups

Excellent stay again at the Fairways Mauna Lani

This is our 4th year staying at the Fairways Mauna Lani for spring break and the second year we have stayed in this particular unit. We have had a wonderful time each year and 2018 was no exception. Our stay was very relaxing and the condo is large and comfortable with everything you need. The beautiful pool has always been a big hit with our kids as well. Hard to beat the value of this unit! Excellent!!

wonderful location.

Wonderful location. Lacked basics. Had to buy garbage bags,washing machine soap , laundry detergent, paper towels and toilet paper. Over all, it was very nice. I would still come back.

Big Island resort vacation

Roomy townhouse with a well equipped kitchen. We enjoyed breakfasting on the downstairs lanai and lounging in the evening on the upstairs one. Pool is close, private beach club access is a short drive. Our only 2 minor quibbles would be the ice maker not working well and we’d have liked a newer coffee machine. Like I said, minor quibbles. 10/10 we’d stay here again.

Spot on Spot

We had a quick trip for a wedding celebration at the Fairmont Orchid. The condo was a perfect location for us to meet up with family and friends at the different beaches. Really enjoyed the 2 bikes in the garage. Kitchen well stocked. Only problem we had was the A/C - it just did not seem to be cooling our unit. Property manager very quick with a response.

Condition of Property

The condo is located in a beautiful area. That is the only good thing about it. The furniture is worn out. The appliances have all control markings rubbed off. The wood floors have large areas of finish removed. Everything is at least 30 years old. The place needs a complete refurbishing.

Rat feces on the bedding

There were rat feces on the bed pillows. The owner said it was from a gekco. He requested picture so I sent him a picture of the rat feces. Subsequently the owner never responded to my calls or emails. I stayed awake in chair and left the next day. The owner has refused to give a refund. VRBO has refunded their administrative fee but states only the owner can give a refund. Just a huge waste of time with moving and locating a new condo along with hours on the phone to VRBO.

A bit about me, so you'll understand my ratings. I have owned properties on the Big Island, including in the Mauna Lani area (Palm Villas, Mauna Lani Terrace) and rented them via VRBO. I would highly recommend staying at this unit in the Fairways. It is clean, comfortable, very well situated, and importantly comes with a card for the beach club. If you've never been to this area, the beach club card is easily worth another 50-75 a day if you use it. We stayed April 9-May 7 and were at the beach club nearly every day for at least an hour or two. It is terrific. As for the unit itself, the only negative I would point out is the white furniture. Renters can be pigs and white gets dirty quickly. I was worried about a previous reviewers comments about the flooring. IGNORE THEM. I suspect they wanted five star accommodations at a four star price. Are there some spots on the flooring where it appears a cleaner ate some of the finish, yes. Is it something I would have fixed when I rented my units on VRBO, no. Did I mention people can be pigs?In summary, my wife and I will be trying to stay here again soon. We truly enjoyed our nearly one month stay!

We had a great time but there were some snafus.

There was no propane for the BBQ and the property owner claimed it was clearly stated in the house instructions that propane was difficult to find and they didn't have anyone who could deliver it. This was not in fact clear other than stating where you can go to get it. We were expected to fill the tanks ourselves, which we ended up choosing not to do b/c the one place we went did not have any. Don't expect to use the gym as they only let 1 person in at a time and people sign up all through the week claiming most all times. It said condiments were provided but we ended up having to purchase all of them and stocked the fridge. They do have oils and some spices. The pictures show boogie boards, but those are not provided either.

Amazing stay at the best condo!!

My family and I had a fabulous time at this lovely well maintained property at the Mauna Lani resort area. This particular condo was well furnished and nicely stocked with small thoughtful touches , like good quality body wash/ shampoo, high quality kitchen utensils for gourmet cooking and the Nest thermostat. The property came with a couple of bikes which helped us get around and go to the nearby shops and beaches. The beach toys, chairs , mats , sunscreen were all super helpful as we did not have to buy or bring them with us. The property is well managed and the property manager was thoughtful, helpful and prompt. She gave us some good suggestions for nearby beaches. The view from the back lanai was excellent, and the distance between the pool and the condo was just right. There was a good collection of books along with some board games for the kids. The condo was clean with the bathrooms were well stocked with toilet paper and high quality bodywash/shampoo. The swimming pool was excellent and highly suitable for young kids. The condo came with lots of swimming pool floaties and noodles. We were also able to use the boogie boards, beach chairs and beach mats that were thoughtfully provided. All in all a fantastic vacation made possible by our wonderful stay at this condo. We will be back . Thank you for this wonderful holiday!!

Worst condo in the MaunaLani Fairway Villas

We stayed here from May 21 through June 4 and had some problems. First issue was the refrigerator/freezer: fridge was at 56 degrees, freezer was 36, too high to freeze anything. The owner sent someone to repair it on the 23rd and told us a part would replaced on Tuesday. Didn’t happen so the temps of both inched up our last few days. The master bed has a thin, hard mattress with no box spring with half of a pool noodle around a dangerous metal bedpost. Inadequate # of towels and they were dirty. Had to launder them before we were comfortable using them and had to wash guest bath towels. Only one hand towel provided in the master for 2 people. No towel in the 1/2 bathroom, used a dish towel.The entire condo was not very clean. It seemed that not a lot of cleaning was done prior to our arrival. Living room and dining room furniture is old, tired, uncomfortable, and stained. Inadequate paper supplies; toilet paper was one ply. The beach had better toilet paper! There was only 1 roll of budget paper towels that went quickly. The entire condo’s lighting was inadequate, very dim. The kitchen wasn’t well equipped. We stay in a condo because we eat in most of the time and expect enough pots and pans, not terribly dull knives. We bought Tupperware to store and transport leftovers. The windows above the bed are uncovered, 5:30am is bright and woke us up. Cockroaches were seen in kitchen, hall and garage.

Disappointing-see other reviews regarding owner refusals and condition of property

Tired, worn and desperately needs updating. Floors throughout the property were worn thru to bare wood. Carpet under dining table pilled and worn. Table chairs cushions broke down. See more below. I would probably have given this a better review had the owner been more empathetic, but he was not. This is an obvert money grab on his part. Worst customer service I have EVER received at a VRBO stay. NO GAS provided for gas grill and owner refused to provide. Beach chair broke and would not replace. The property description lists 4 chairs, there were 2 and 1 was broken. The owners response was no one else had complained about the chairs and just go to the Mauna Lani beach. I had to purchase my own. TV remote was not operable, and owner would not replace. Plan on buying your own dishwasher soap(1tab provided) Garbage bags(a few provided) Shampoo(2 shampoo and bars of soap provided-Motel 6 size). Toilet paper. When I inquired about this was told the are not a hotel. Ice dispenser inoperable. Tried to fix per owners noted left in unit but still inoperable. So a known problem they let linger. Stove: all heat temperature markings are rubbed off. Soap dispenser in bathroom is rusted. Washing Machine is MOLDY. STINKS. Lights burned out in laundry, kitchen stove and microwave. Stove fan runs but does not draw. Shower heads covered in hard water calcium deposits. Chipped bathtub in 2nd bath. NO headboards on beds. Mattresses just pushed up against the wall.

***RENTER BEWARE***

The owner of this unit uses an internet-controlled thermostat and locks the renter out, denying the renter access to controlling the air conditioning unit. THIS SHOULD CLEARLY BE STATED IN THE PROPERTY DESCRIPTION. IF WE HAD KNOWN THIS, WE WOULD NOT HAVE RENTED THIS UNIT. During our 14 day stay, we contacted the owner TWICE asking them to set the thermostat at a comfortable 74 degrees and were told that could cause the unit to malfunction. For most of our stay the temperature in the unit was between 77-80 degrees, even at 5:00 am – way too hot to comfortably sleep. The second bedroom, located above the garage, is unbearably hot at night! This was our fourth stay in a condo at the Mauna Lani (our other units were not available this year). We have ALWAYS been able to control the temperature in our unit. Issues: 1) The coffeemaker did not work. We notified the property manager (PM) on our first morning. Rather than have the PM deliver a new coffeemaker, the owner's mail ordered one and it did not arrive for a week. 2) We informed the PM the ice AND water dispensers did not work on the refrigerator door. We cleared the dispenser from any blockage and it worked for a short period of time. During a follow-up phone call from the PM we told her it was still not working – it was never fixed. Fortunately, the inside ice maker still worked, but we had to buy bottled water for our two weeks stay. 3) We were notified (prior to arrival) the door to the washing machine and the soap dispenser were cracked, but still usable. They were, but in addition the seal on the washing machine had lots of mold around it. There was also mold around the edges in the master shower. 4) This was the most poorly supplied unit we have ever rented on VRBO in regard to the provided “starter kit”. For short term stays, provide the renter with enough TP, paper towels, and dish detergent to get them through their stay. Positives: This unit has a great location with easy walking distance to the pool. The beds were comfortable, and the towels were plentiful. Greatly appreciated being supplied with a remote to the entrance gate so we did not need to punch in the gate code each time we were entering the development. The internet worked great, the furnishings were comfortable, although the two couches and throw pillows need a good cleaning. The kitchen had a nice selection of spices left over from prior renters and was well equipped.

For viewers and potential renters, this is our experience with these guests. 1. The NEST is a smart-home thermostat system. This is an AI learning product that automatically turns-off AC when it detects no one in the unit and turns-on when it detects presence. The guests were unfamiliar with NEST and kept adjusting causing the thermostat to go into learning mode and delay the turn-on AC longer than the usual time it would take. This additional delay frustrated the guests and they requested us to put the NEST system at a fixed temperature that we obliged to. All the bedrooms in the unit have ceiling fans that helps with the air-circulation. We instruct our guests that we are happy to have them set their comfortable temperature on the NEST, but not make frequent adjustments to the NEST. We feel the lack of familiarity of NEST appears to have frustrated the guests in giving us a bad review. 2. Coffee Pot:- Upon communication by the guest that they were having trouble with the coffee pot in the unit, our property manager shipped a brand new coffeepot and courtesy bag of Kona Coffee through AMAZON PRIME. 3. Fridge:- Yes, wear and tear happens. As we understood from the guests, there was ice buildup in the ice maker that is not uncommon with fridges. This is easily addressable with some warm water and was suggested. The guests did not bring it up when the PM checked back in with them, so the PM thought it was resolved. 4. Washer:- A previous guest had damaged the washer door. The washer is fully functional and needs a little lift to close the door. We are in the process of getting a new door, but it takes time to get parts from mainland to do repairs. 5. Toiletries:- The starter kit is to get the guests started while they get settled into the unit. The guest is responsible for any remaining toiletries needed for their stay once the starter kit is completed, and this has been communicated in the house rules. The PM talked to the reviewer’s husband on the phone about this and let know that she’d be happy to have the cleaning crew drop off extra items. He said he was fine and would be happy to go to the store. Not sure why the misunderstanding occurred. We are the kind of owners that like to give renters space and privacy. After all, people are on vacation and don't want to bothered. Our goal is to have our guests a comfortable stay in our unit. Very bad experience

The physical unit was fine, and upon first glance it seemed clean other then the living room floor which had not been cleaned since the last guests and the bag of trash left on the landing up stairs. If this was all we experienced, we would not be writing about it. As we began settling in on the day of our arrival (4 pm check in; 5 night stay), we did see a pack of red pepper flakes that had been opened by an animal and animal dropping on the kitchen counter. We also saw an animal dropping in the master bathroom toilet area. A couple of hints that an animal (most likely a rat) had been in the unit at sometime. Then when going to bed later that night, we found dropping in both beds (master bedroom and second bedroom), on the floor near the beds in both rooms and more in the master bathroom. We wrote to the owners about the issue and asked if they had another property we could move into. Again, this was an issue we walked into, not a problem that developed after we had been staying at their property. We also reached out VRBO to whom we could send pictures. VRBO could not help because we could not send pictures of the ‘animal’. In the morning we saw that an animal had gotten into a sealed bag of fruit on the kitchen counter (all other food had been put into the refrigerator). Additionally more droppings were present in other rooms. Now we knew knew there was an active rat problem and could no longer safely stay here. The owner responded to our message by reporting that they had not had received reports of this issue from past renters or their housekeeper, and their unit was constantly occupied. They also stated that there was a rat and mongoose were a problem on the island and described the HOA’s pesticide program. They did nothing to help resolve the immediate problem we walked into at their property. Interpreting their message, it was our problem to deal with at their property. We checked out that morning, less than 24 hours from our arrival, and informed the owners. We requested a refund. We have not heard from the owners since and did not receive any type of compensation. To put this review into context, we have never had an experience like this before or another type of other rental issue in the past 10 years of renting individual properties. We did not take writing this review lightly.

Great location!

Overall we enjoyed our vacation and had a great time! -The condo was in an excellent location. We loved being on the ground unit. The grass area was a great place for our kids to play and unwind. - The pool was nicely maintained and we loved being able to walk to the shops close by. The beach club was also a huge plus! - The owner was very responsive when we couldn't get into the gym. He provided the code right away when I sent him a message. - The unit was supplied with plenty of towels/beach towels and the kitchen was well equipped. - The nest thermostat was locked at certain hours of the day. At night it was set to 78 degrees and we could not adjust this temperature. We traveled with our two young kids (9 months and 2.5 years) and it was very hot at night for all of us, and especially for our littles. - We were given specific instructions to take the trash out every day. Our stay was for 6 nights and we were only given three garbage bags. We had to go out and buy more garbage bags in order to comply with these instructions. - There were beach toys in the garage, however there were only 2 beach chairs (for 5 of us) and no umbrella. We went out to buy an umbrella to provide shade while at the beach.

Oasis in Mauna Lani

So peaceful and beautiful , within walking distance of trails to beaches . We stay here often. As long as you can hike a couple of miles , and can climb stairs , it’s heaven. Unit was great , everything you need uis here Mahalo

Christmas vacation - family of four

The property was great. I love the location of Mauni Lani and the Fairways community was very nice. The unit was clean, well taken care of and comfortable for a family of four (with two tween/teen kids). There’s a nice grassy area right out the back which was great for the kids to get outside at the end of the day and it’s an easy walk to the pool. The grill needs to be maintained more often (by cleaning staff, not just guests scrapping down grill trays) but when we ran into an issue the host was extremely responsive and helpful. They could use some new boggie boards and snorkel equipment. They were fine for playing around in the water but if you really wanted to use them you would need to rent equipment. Overall I would stay here again and was happy with our stay. Thank you.
