Swallow cottage er et stort luksuriøst renoveret sommerhus beliggende ved siden af NewCastle Village, Co. Wicklow i Irlands have. Ejendommen er del af et gammelt gårdskompleks, der for nylig er blevet renoveret. Ejendommen er i to niveauer og omfatter køkken med stor stue og åben plan med et stort soveværelse og ensuite brusebad på øverste niveau og et meget stort soveværelse i stueetagen med tilstødende brusebad, entré og bryggers. Ejendommen sover fire personer komfortabelt, og en femtedel (med ekstra seng) kan plads i det meget store soveværelse i stueetagen udstyret med WIFI og tv.

Ejendommen ligger på en arbejdsgård og ved siden af Birdwatch Nature Reserve i Co. Wicklow. Beliggende i North Wicklow og bogstaveligt talt 20 minutter fra South County Dublin, er det en ideel base for at udforske det omkringliggende område, 40 minutter fra centrum af Dublin og 10 minutter fra landsbyen Greystones til det nordlige og 10 minutter fra byen Wicklow . Wicklow National Park, Glendalough, Powerscourt Estate, Kilruddery ligger alle inden for nem køreafstand. Druids Glen Golf Course ligger mindre end 5 minutters kørsel væk, og der er mindst 10 andre golfbaner inden for 10 minutters kørsel. Stranden ligger 10 minutters gang fra gården, en halv kilometer. Andre faciliteter i nærheden inkluderer ridning / polo / cykling / gå / sejlads. Gården ligger tæt på, hvor Vikings TV-serie optages.

Gården er blevet restaureret, og målet er at gøre det så miljøvenligt som muligt og genindføre naturligt vildtlevende liv og planter, der tidligere var udslettet af industrielt landbrug. Årsagen til, at det kaldes Swallow Cottage, er, fordi Swallows hvert år vender tilbage til laden, der støder op og hekker der om sommeren.

Der er et ekstra sommerhus (Yew Cottage) på stedet, der kan rumme yderligere 4 gæster. Ekstremt privat og sikkert.

Everything you need, nothing you don’t

Our stay at Swallow Cottage was nothing short of delightful. Nestled in a serene location, it provided the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The no-fuss, self-sufficiency approach was exactly what we were looking for. We appreciated being left to our own devices to fully immerse ourselves in the tranquil surroundings. The staff we did encounter were always courteous, accommodating, and gracious. Their presence was subtle yet supportive, ensuring we had everything we needed without intruding on our peace. Swallow Cottage is the ideal getaway for those seeking a quiet, independent retreat. We will be back, highly recommended!

Didn’t want to leave!

Just had a fantastic week in this gorgeous property set in the most fantastic grounds. The owners and all the people working on the property were friendly, welcoming and attentive. Freshly picked produce grown in the grounds arrived at our door. The hosts could not do enough for us. The accommodation was of the highest standard of equipment, fixtures and fitting. We didn’t want to leave! Thank you Angela, Harry and everyone in the team!

A lovely place

We so much enjoyed our stay. The farm was a place of peace as it re-wilds. We noticed and enjoyed songs of the birds and field of grass in front of our cottage. The cottage was beautifully renovated and we enjoyed sitting and looking out of the large window. We also enjoyed the region, the mountains and the seaside community of Greystones. Perfect

We were so happy with our stay at the Swallow Cottage. Angela provided a wonderful welcome and was fantastic in responding to any requests. The Swallow Cottage has plenty of room and was spotless. Kitchen provided all the amenities of home. We will absolutely recommend to our friends traveling to Ireland and will be sure to make this a stop on our next visit.

A Very Quiet Few Days

My son and I enjoyed our 5 days at Swallow Cottage very much as we both love nature and we visited the bird sanctuary. We would have appreciated a little more communication with our host on arrival, such as 5 minutes to explain where to find the ground floor bathroom was located and the hidden bedroom TV. A few signposts, such as the name on the cottage door, and a few discreet arrows to show the way on foot to the beach would have been helpful. The accommodation was very comfortable and cosy.

Great peaceful place to get away

Lovely quiet retreat for the family. Close enough to many attractions in Wicklow or the beach to keep everyone satisfied. The lodgings were nicely furnished and equipped. The overall design of the accommodations was amazing. The owners were helpful and accommodating with our children, including letting them interact with the horses and lovely dogs! Would definitely return.

Gorgeous Cottage

This place is stunning, such a gorgeous base to stay in while exploring Wicklow. The log fire and Netflix was perfect for a rainy evening. We have 3 kids who loved this place nicknaming it the ‘upside down’ cottage due to the living room being upstairs to take advantage of the views across the fields. We adventured through the fields to the beach to explore, which was fun.

Disappointing stay at an isolated farm

The host was not at the property at the agreed time, and was quite cool with us in a fairly brief showing round. There was no customary welcome of flowers/wine/items such as butter, milk, bread, unlike the other places we stayed at, indicative of good manners. This was the most expensive of the places we had booked yet the host explained she was not making enough money! Reviews, on which we all base our choices, mentioned fresh items/champagne/coffee etc but there was nothing at all. We received a message minutes later, whilst mulling over the 10 mile round trip to get milk, as the farm is not near anywhere, saying we could leave and get a pro rata refund. Perhaps it was meant well but I found it distressing. We did not see or hear from her again during our stay. Swallow Cottage is certainly luxuriously designed and the linen and beds were lovely. The window panes top and bottom did suffer from bird droppings and my husband noticed many dead flies and cobwebs in the veluxes, so suggest these are cleaned. The hob wasn't straightforward, only working when something is on it so a guide to all the facilities would be a great help. How did the BBQ work and why a coffee machine without pods provided? Not enough crockery when using the full size dishwasher to then have any left to use. 2 dishwasher tablets for a 5 day stay? one log in the basket for a fire, one spoon for cooking. Everything a little mean. There are 4 boisterous dogs who do run around free so bear that in mind.

An Irish slice of heaven

Our family of 5 (2 adults, 3 kids) absolutely LOVED this vrbo! I wish I could give it 6 stars because it is superlative. Property looks even better in person than in pictures - immaculate, modern, peaceful. The beds were incredibly comfortable and rooms conveniently had black-out shades so we always had a great night's sleep. Kitchen had everything we needed and we enjoyed many meals in the cottage because it was truly just a joy to be in that space. There were also fantastic waterfall shower heads in both bathrooms, and a washer/dryer (must have with 3 kids) in our cottage. The grounds are stunning with aromatic flower and kitchen gardens. We enjoyed a walk through the nature reserve in the back of the property to the Irish Sea!! We also had a great time with the friendly resident dogs and cats. This cottage will be one of our favorite memories/experiences from our Ireland adventure, and I am so grateful to Angela for creating this little slice of heaven and sharing it with us.

First timers in Ireland

The property was beautiful, we found the beds comfortable, everything was in working order. The kitchen and bathrooms were fully equipped. The grounds were charming and the host was especially engaging. This is the place to be for peace and quiet. Not much to do in town. We had really good food at the Castle’s Inn - Dublin is at least 35+ minutes away. We would stay there again

Awesome stay here while horse shopping in the area. Increadible attention to details with the remodel of the historic farm. We had coffee, milk, juice and Irish bread and butter waiting for us upon arrival. You will be amazed!

Fantastic place to stay!

My husband and 2 teenagers stayed here for 3 weeks and it was amazing! The property is beautiful and spacious. There was grass to kick a ball around on. The kids enjoyed playing with the dogs. We enjoyed having our morning coffee and breakfast on the patio. The cottage was big enough for us to all have our own space and some privacy for my husband while he worked. Everyone was so friendly and kind. I can't say enough good things about this place.

This property is a dream, the setting is amazing and Swallow Cottage is even better in reality than the already lovely photos. We enjoyed a week here, a peaceful place to return to every evening after a busy day hiking, shopping and eating close by. Angela was an amazing host and everyone on the property so welcoming. A magical place to holiday.

Hidden Magic!

Absolutely fantastic stay in Yew Cottage: the accommodations are properly luxe balanced with cozy. Stunning sculptures dot the pristine (yet charming) grounds, and the walking paths down to the sea are delightful. Our favorite but was the canine welcoming committee. Truly a retreat from the daily grind.

Summer at Blackditch

We had a fabulous week in Swallow Barn, a brilliant location for a reunion with our daughter and partner after all this time. So much enjoyed the quiet and privacy the farm affords - very well equipped and designed including high quality, well maintained appliances. The village pub was excellent, a short pleasant cycle away with lovely staff. All in all Angela and Sharon looked after us very well and made for a most comfortable stay.

The Farm was purchased in 2014 and has been undergoing restoration, 60,000 sq feet of industrial sheds have been demolished with a view to making the farm an environmentally friendly as possible with it iconic position close to the unique Birdwatch Reserve and the natural beauty of the Wicklow countryside, classified as an area of outstanding natural beauty.
