Amazing Stay

We LOVED our stay here. The host is super sweet and accommodating, the view is amazing, and our breakfasts were delicious. I would highly recommend staying here while visiting the northern beaches.

Panoramic View in a Special Place

We loved staying here. It is a privilege to stay with Audrey and we feel fortunate to have found this place. The panoramic view is extraordinary, the accommodations were perfect for our needs and although we are ocean/lake lovers, we enjoyed having a pool and hot tub available. Audrey's breakfasts are bountiful and delicious. The fruit is outstanding: finally, ripe fruit, something we rarely get here back east. Really, you can spend hours here just taking in the view and relaxing. Everything is neat and pristine but most of all, we enjoyed our lovely, gracious host.

Gorgeous ocean views, delicious breakfast

My wife and I spent 6 nights at Audrey and Jerry's lovely home this February. The site was perfect for us. North of the main resort areas, it is quiet and serene. The views are spectacular, and we could see Humpback whales from the porch of our room. The room is meticulously cared for by Audrey, and she makes fantastic breakfasts that she delivers every morning. She is a great host, and gave us lots of tips for our stay.

Our time @ Audrey and Jerry’s was absolutely wonderful. Easy access to everywhere we wanted to go including a quiet little beach at Spencer Park. Highly recommend to all. Breakfast was an added delight.

Wonderful views and great breakfasts!

Perfect location to relax and enjoy the beauty of the big island. Audrey is a great host and works to make your stay wonderful. Do wish the pool was a little warmer but it is winter so it probably heats up better in the warmer seasons. Overall it was a wonderful four day stay!

Quiet private room with a view and pool

Wonderful host Audrey cooked amazing breakfast, different every day. Fabulous view from the bed of whole Kohala coast. Super clean, comfortable and convenient. Watching the Ocean from the veranda is magical.

Paradise

Makai Hale was the perfect place for sun, relaxation, whale watching and that feeling of ahhhh. The accommodations were extremely comfortable and private. And besides all that, we were treated with a variety of Audrey's delicious breakfasts. We hope to be able to return here soon.

Quick getaway

We had a quick three day getaway to the big island. This place was truly amazing. It is a way from the crowds and the resorts, and is quiet and clean. Our host Took good care of us and made us great breakfast. We had fun exploring the northern end of the island and watching the whales from the patio. Definitely will go back.

Amazing Big Island Get Away

Audrey was the perfect host and prepared scrumptious breakfasts each day. The property is beautiful and peaceful with amazing 180+ degree views of the ocean. You can also see the Milky Way on clear nights as the light pollution is very low. It feels very safe and secure with a bit of remoteness while being close to Waimaea and the Kohala beaches. The pool was refreshing and looks out over the ocean as well. Higly recommended! A great place to make lifelong memories, we would definitely stay here again!

Like staying with our Hawaiian family

Great location, stunning views with daily wildlife viewing, delicious breakfasts, very comfortable space, immaculate swimming pool and hot tub, beach gear, easy access to many beaches, snorkeling, a dive shop for gear rental, a seafood market with delicious, fresh poke bowls, and a nearby tiki bar/restaurant with a great happy hour (seafood bar and grill). Also near a couple of historic parks, and a short drive to Hawi and Waimea.The hostess is delightful. The kitchen has a full sized fridge (stocked with coffee, milk/creamer, and juice), granola bars and cereal was made available. There is also a toaster, coffee grinder, and a grill.There is shampoo, conditioner, and body wash available in the bathroom.

5-star all the way around!

I'm not sure I can top all the other reviews, but I totally agree with them. This is a 5-star property and a 5-star experience! Everything was just wonderful! Our favorite parts were whale watching every morning (bring your binoculars!), the hot tub, and Audrey's wonderful breakfasts! The location was perfect to beaches, sights, and amenities. (We recommend eating at the Seafood Bar and Grill which is just five minutes away.) Thank you to Audrey for a wonderful stay! We would definitely stay there again!

Absolutely Fantabulous!

Audrey and Jerry are consummate hosts and Makai Hale is absolutely fantabulous! Staying here is tantamount to having one's own private resort! The setting is breathtaking. Wonderful bedding, linens and towels, scrumptious breakfasts. Great assortment of beach equipment. Pristine swimming pool and hot tub. Spectacular sunrises, sunsets, star gazing, and whale watching. Great location in North Kohala. This was our second stay with Audrey and Jerry and we hope our future holds many more stays at Makai Hale!

A Truly Special Place to Stay

This ranks as one of the best vacation stays we have ever had! Breathtaking ocean and island views and a full package of aloha, great breakfasts and lots of little things from our host to make our stay wonderful. Breakfast included a fruit plate plus something else every day, which depending on the day included an omelette, french toast, pancakes, sausage, banana bread and other goodies. Lots of beach equipment available to use including beach towels, beach chairs, a boogie board and a snorkeling set. Many other small treats and details. Highest recommendation!

The Taylor's on The Big Island

I have never seen a view quite like this. The rolling hills around the property and the 180 degree view of the ocean was like nothing we've experienced. The best part of this property is Audrey. She is the most gracious host we've ever had. Her island breakfasts featuring home-grown mango are perfect. While there, we had a bit of rental car trouble. Audrey went above and beyond to help bail us out of this situation. She's wonderful.

Relax with a view

This is an ideal place to stay if you’re looking to relax with great views. We started a 10 day vacation here and stayed 3 nights. Four would probably have been better. Audrey served a tasty breakfast in the morning and the view just added to the experience. In the evening we’d be in the pool or on the lanai during sunset. Perfect. It’s a very quiet out of the way neighborhood which is what we were after to start our trip. Highly recommend this place to soak in some Hawaiian sun and views.

Beautiful in every way!

This place is absolutely amazing! The view is breathtaking no matter what time of day. The home is very clean, comfortable, and the breakfast was amazing. Audrey is a fantastic host: she was available to answer any questions, responded quickly, and made check-in/check-out a breeze. My husband and I travel frequently. Of the many places we have been, this is one of the best. If our travels take us in this direction again, I would LOVE to come back and stay at Audrey's place. Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality and allowing us to enjoy your fabulous place!
