Paradise with minor drawbacks

We (family of four with a 4 and 6 year old) spent a wonderful week at Aquamarina Luxury Residences. The views from the balcony and the pool and beach options can’t be beat and deserve a 5-star rating, as does Santa the chef/go-to house manager. Reasons we didn’t give a 5-star rating overall include: - the property was difficult to find at first (for us and tour companies throughout the week) (the fact that it is so secluded and not busy is also part of the draw though) - we had 2 days with the AC units not working (Santa was great about contacting maintenance and having them come check, but it still took a couple of days to get things back up and running)- Rosa was a bit slow to respond in communications and didn’t provide much information (questions asked, check in, etc) leading up to arrival - we had noticed bugs/termites of some kind in the kid’s room throughout the week and finally found a nest they were burrowing in on the sleeper sofa on our last night (Santa indicated they have scheduled a fumigation for Monday and are throwing away the sleeper sofa) - As others have mentioned, Santa doesn’t speak any English. This was not an issue for us, as I also speak Spanish, but we noted it would have been very challenging to communicate with her if we were not Spanish-speakers. She is absolutely wonderful though and will truly accommodate you as needed. Overall, none of the above issues took away from a great week in paradise and we would consider booking again.

First trip to Cap Canna

The housekeeper, Santa, was nice. Big language barrier but it worked. Only complaint is she left front door unlocked while we were out. Also, on the afternoon we arrived back to condo with front door unlocked , all the doors to balcony were opened which in return shut the master bedroom door closed. Luckily the sliding door to the MBR was also unlocked so we could get in that way and unlock the door—but before we thought of this, we called all the “service” and concierge numbers to help us—no response. Also, one of the 2 key cards never worked. But all this said, the room, Santa, the building, locations were excellent. We loved the property and would go back to the same place again w/o hesitation!!!!

Great Location and View

Top floor unit with vaulted ceilings, large deck and great ocean/beach view. Furnishings, decorations and kitchen stock are all plentiful and top notch. The manager, Rosa was very responsive and helpful in answering questions both prior to arrival and during our stay. There is underground parking with a convenient elevator directly to unit door. The nearby waterfront restaurant is excellent with a good food and service. The Aquamarina complex is beautifully landscaped and well maintained. It is by far the best we observed in the area. FYI- Get good directions on how to check in once inside the Cap Cana resort. also, we did not know it up front but the unit comes with a maid that will shop, cook and clean for you if desired. Problem is we do not speak Spanish and she did not speak English. We did not want those services so it was not an issue. She just did a typical light cleaning and straightening up each day. She was very nice and did her best to be helpful but the language issue limited things. There is a small market near the Cap Cana entrance gate that has a little of everything one could need for a short stay. If we returned to the area, we would definitely try to book this unit again.

Amazing Views

The views are amazing and the property is well furnished. Would get a plumber in the master bath as the shower would not drain.

The views are wonderful, and the owner very responsive

Pro: beds were average but good, it was clean, it is very convenient or close to the beach, API restaurant and pool. The condo was very quiet even though close to the beach. Nice laundry area, and the maid service after the first day was spot on in that she usually appeared after we left and was gone when we got back from the beach. The patio has great views and comfortable furniture. Most of all, if you asked the owner/manager, Rosa, for something she delivered promptly. I would stay here again, so please do not read the cons comments as reasons to pass on this lovely condo. For cooking, this is one of the best VRBOs I have seen with pots, pans, wine glasses, etc. Con: when we arrived the hot water was not working, which Rosa took care of quickly; I did not want to complain as it is not unit specific as I believe it is in all the units but you have to let the water run for a few minutes before it is hot. Our first maid made us feel like we were visiting her home and she lacked hospitality skills; Rosa immediately replaced her, and we then had our privacy and good maid services. The wind blew pretty good while there, and something was rattling around the master bedroom window. It would have been nice to have some paper towels, but I did not ask for such. The unt need a little minor TLC such as grouting.

WOW!

Of the several "homeaway" trips we have enjoyed, Rosa's condo was "WOW"!!! Absolutely top of our list. Pictures didn't do the unit justice. Usually pictures tend to "exaggerate" a bit, but this time, the place exceeded the pictures. Everything was "top shelf", including the wonderful live-in housekeeping personnel. She was a delight. The only negative was transportation while there. Approximate 10-15 taxi fare one way, was $40.00. RENT A VEHICLE and enjoy more of the beautiful area. Unfortunately, the couple who was to join us, had a family emergency and was unable to join us. BUT, after we shared our "outstanding" experience in Rosa's condo, the four of us are returning, hopefully very soon!!!!
