Rustic Peaceful Fishing Cabin Near University of Alabama Tannehill Mercedes

This is a rustic fishing cabin on quaint and quiet Lake Retreat. The cabin truly is rustic and quiet. Built (we assume) by weekend warriors back in 1979, it became ours in May of 2018. Lake Retreat is part of the Lake View Property Owners Association. The owners, Chris and Nancy have paid the dues for the year, so the dock is available for fishing. The lake has Bass, Catfish, Blue Gill, and other Brim. Lake Retreat is a no-wake lake. The LPOA does not allow non-owner motorized boats on the lake. Swimming is not recommended. Water is not tested for e-coli.

This cabin is a peaceful getaway right on the serene water of Lake Retreat! The dock also has two Adirondack chairs so you can sit and fish or enjoy the view! We provide pond fish food so you can feed the fish and an occasional turtle off the dock.

This cabin includes a smart TV in the living area and another smart TV in the Queen bed bedroom. Both have remotes. The kitchen features an electric range, microwave, and a refrigerator with ice maker. You can fill the cooler on the way to the game! The cabin is great for relaxing after an Alabama football game.
Watercraft are not available.

We had such a nice, relaxing time! The lakeside view was fantastic, it was very cozy and the bed was comfy. Cute little bathroom too!

Absolutely loved staying here. My husband and I came for an early anniversary getaway. If you are looking for a quiet and homey place to rest and recharge, this is it. We enjoyed the seclusion. Everything you need is here. Fishing was nice, I imagine it’s really nice in the spring. Will definitely be back.

It’s a quaint cabin and worked well for our stay. We were in town for a football game so didn’t get to spend much time at the cabin. We did enjoy feeding the fish and sitting on the dock in the morning. Very relaxing scenery. It fit our needs and Chris was awesome at communication!

Perfect stay! The cabin was clean, in a great location (private, quiet, relaxing atmosphere). We sat on the balcony and enjoyed the early morning and mid afternoon, cool breeze and watching the hummingbirds and fished several times a day. We caught several fish but released them. Such a great place to get away from it all! Our dogs enjoyed as well! Definitely will be booking again!

Enjoyed my stay at Rustic Fishing Cabin. The serenity of the lake made it the perfect getaway for some well needed rest and relaxation. Everything was clean and organized. Great fishing off the dock and the hummingbirds were everywhere.

We were in town for a baseball tournament in Tuscaloosa. We enjoyed being able to escape and our boys and other baseball players enjoyed coming to fish and grill out! Only suggestion is to add a washer/dyer!!

Just the way a cabin getaway should be; peaceful, isolated, and thoughtfully stocked with amenities. Be sure to have your check in instructions ready ahead of time if you are on Verizon or you gonna have to ride back up the road a short ways to get a signal. Once you're in you can use the wifi to stay connected. My grandson and I had a wonderful time fishing. You can catch Blue Gill until your heart is content. We didn't try for catfish or bass, but I am sure they were there. My Wife is excited to make a return for another stay. We look forward to coming back.

Quick trip

It rained quite a bit we were there, but we still had a great time. Beautiful views. The cabin was just a couple of minutes from my mom’s house, so close to everything we needed to get to. A great retreat while visiting family.

We purchase this cabin at a foreclosure auction. No other bidders showed up! We loved it at first sight although it took quite a bit of time and money to get it in the shape it is now.

We were born in Michigan and attended Rochester High School. We moved to Alabama in 2008 when Chris was transferred here.

We love the Alabama climate!

Nancy retired from the University of Alabama 's IT dept. Chris works as a measuring equipment Sales Engineer.

We have spent a lot of time refurbishing the cabin. We have tried to keep it rustic and add some charm.
We love it. We hope you do too. It feels so great to host guests so they can enjoy the tranquility of the lake and woods like we feel. We respect your privacy and feature a self check-in process.

One of my most favorite things to do is to get up early in the morning, throw pond fish chow off the dock, then sit on the back deck and watch the fish have breakfast with my coffee. We intentionally purchased tall chairs so we could see over the deck railing. The most peaceful morning of my life.

The woods and lake are what attracted us to the cabin. We love the location. We love having coffee on the back deck after throwing pond fish chow out on the water and watching the fish and a few turtles.

Chris loves to fish for catfish, bass, and bluegill off the dock.

While Chris enjoys fishing, Nancy enjoys sitting on the back deck and watching the birds and other wildlife that happens by. The hummingbird feeders in the summer are always entertaining.

It is very quiet outside, and peaceful. We are so glad to share this peace with our guests.

Located only 18 miles from Tuscaloosa (22 miles to the University) , it is a great place to stay for Alabama football games. You can come back after the game and enjoy an evening of fishing or just hanging out at a campfire (when the fire danger is low).

At night, we have white string lights that keep the outdoor decks illuminated. They are on a timer that you can set as you wish.

The Rustic Fishing Cabin is on a quiet no wake lake. Lots of wildlife. My favorite thing to do at the cabin is to sit on the deck or the front porch It is so peaceful!

So the cabin is perfect for fishing, relaxing, and a quiet retreat after an exciting Alabama football game.

For extra entertainment, the storage bin on the pier has pond fish chow. We throw a coffee can full out on the water and watch the fish swarm in to feed along with a few turtles. Keep that lid closed and locked at night or the raccoons will go inside and get trapped if the lid closes on them!

The cabin has a DVD player and a smart TV. As well as various games and DVDs.

We have installed a fishing bragging board in the cabin.
What is that you may wonder?
Send us your pics of your best catch of the day, and we will add it to the bragging board! If you have a great stadium selfie at an Alabama football game, we will post that too!

We have good luck catching fish with live worms/night crawlers. You can get them at the Citgo gas station about 7 miles north east on highway 216.
