The house was lovely! Perfect location, well equipped, was larger than it looks in the photos. Excellent hosts and perfect for our family visit. The pool was so nice in the hot weather!

Wonderful location and property- hosts attentive when needed - exterior lovely, but could have a bit more polish ( missing flowers in pots around pool, missing lounge cushions and poor looking pergola) - overall a charming well equipped spacious and comfortable property in a fantastic location

The property was perfect to spend quality time with our daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. Everything was great for card games round the patio table, volley-ball in the pool, and the location is wonderful with its chateaux and pretty villages.Laurence was the perfect host, ensuring that our stay went smoothly, and that we had an excellent holiday

A beautiful ,comfortable, tastefully renovated property, in a quiet location but with easy access to Loire and Vienne villages and chateaux. The kitchen equipment and appliances were just about complete. The pool and outside space was lovely- sunny areas and shade, with nice planting. The owners are so pleasant and helpful.We loved it, no complaints at all!

Perfect for families

We were travelling with a disabled grandma, who enjoyed the ground floor room, grandad, son, daughter-in-law and two grandsons. We had a brilliant time, the house and pool were perfect! Lovely comfortable beds and everything you need for a really lovely family holiday.

Beautiful place and location in Loire

We would not hesitate to come here again. The property is much larger than it looks in the pictures and Laurence is a fantastic host. Everything is within a short drive, castles, market towns. Thank you for a memorable stay

The Squirrels

Despite mediocre weather we had a very pleasant stay in a well-equipped house. Especially the quiet and secluded garden and terrace were a plus, as well of course as the location, perfect to explore the Loire Chateaux.

A lovely place to stay in the Loire Valley

A really practical house for a family stay. In two halves, split by the large kitchen /diner/lounge, young children and parents can have one side, with generous bathroom provision, and grandparents can have the other. A lovely and very safe pool was a great hit. Our second stay, and we'll go again!

Lovely home to relax with the family

We were looking for a family friendly home with a pool to escape to for a week following a stressful couple of years, and that’s exactly what we found in Cheille. Everything was easy, the weather great and we enjoyed walking in the forest, visiting Azay Le Rideau, Chinon, Tours and Langeais. We’d recommend Les Ecureuils to anybody looking for a similar break.

Recommended

Accommodation layout a little unusual, but oodles of space and all necessary facilities. Hosts are a delightful and friendly couple who live a short walk away. Any issues were resolved very quickly and plenty of helpful advice and recommendations. Perfect location for visiting the Loire Valley and all the main towns and chateaux.

Terrific

We had a wonderful time. The villa was as described. It was very clean and very well equipped. The beds were very comfortable and the bedding very good. It was in a lovely setting, with a very nice swimming pool and the main town was not far away, so was very convenient to get to, by car, for gift shops (not many, but a few) and restaurants. You definitely need a car though to get around as everywhere is too far to get to if you walk. We did notice a bus stop within a couple of minutes walk from the villa, so I guess you can get about easily by bus but we never asked about this. The only thing that we were a little disappointed with was that there wasn’t a welcome pack and that would have been very good because we arrived late and had only half an hour to get to the supermarket to buy milk and cold drinks. We would definitely love to stay again although the next time we may fly because the drive is very long from the Euro Tunnel - 6/7 hours.

We had a very comfortable and enjoyable 2-week holiday staying in this charming and very well-equipped property. The property is light, airy, spacious and effectively can be used as a holiday for two families or groups should they want or need their own space. Laurence lives very close by and was very easy to contact. She was friendly, pleasant, attentive, and helpful and not in any way intrusive. The online pictures are a very accurate representation of the house and gardens. The property has easy access to several chateaux and interesting local towns (Chinon, Bourgeuil, Saumur, Langeais) and is a 5-minute drive from Azay-le-Rideau. The downstairs bedroom is wonderfully cool in hot weather and quiet. The owner supplied plenty of good fans to use in the hot weather in other parts of the house. The surroundings and gardens were extensive, very attractive and quiet affording lots of privacy and different areas for our family to enjoy relaxing and playing and ready access to local and immediate walks in adjacent forests. A delightful spot. This is a very good area for cycling providing varied and interesting routes either near to the Loire river or through pretty villages. The swimming pool is heated and secured and is in the garden which makes it very convenient and a great asset to your holiday.

In the heart of Touraine

A warm welcome from Laurence with all the information about the house and the surrounding area. Very spacious house in a rural location, which is ideal for two families or friends, as there are two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms at opposite ends of the building. The large combined living and dining room with open kitchen also offers enough space and seating for the specified number of people. We really liked the combination of the old building with modern elements, the equipment is very extensive and we didn't feel cold even in autumn, which is not a matter of course in old buildings. Shops, petrol station and restaurants can be found in Azay-le-Rideau, which can be reached by car in less than ten minutes. The number of excursion options is huge and there should be something for every preference. We felt very comfortable here and spent a great week in the heart of Touraine. Au revoir!

Beautiful property with super facilities including parking, small pool, large outside terrace and a very large kitchen and dining area - perfect for large groups but with well designed areas for more privacy (with bedrooms on either side of the property). Laurence and Yannick are delightful hosts and live close by, and sorted out a very minor problem within minutes. The kitchen is well designed and easy to cook meals for a large group. With two bedrooms on either side of the property it is great for two families but the shared bathroom on one side of the upper house means it is better for parents and children to share (no real privacy for two sets of adults to use). The outside space is lovely, and we sat around the pool most afternoons (pool is small but perfect for cooling off). There is a cycle path just up from the house which takes you into nearby Azay which is stunning (around 10-15 minutes on a bike). Would highly recommend the house and would love to return to this beautiful area.

The property came up to our expectations. We had rented such accommodation before in France and this one was one of the best. It’s location was exactly what we wanted. Easy access to the Loire Château and wineries. The property was also easy to find when traveling to it from Paris, as we were. We were only 4 people in a property that obviously can house more. But all the facilities we wanted were available. The property is surrounded by a large garden with a good sized pool. Very rural which was what we wanted. As the weather was so good we only eat outside from the barbecue. Never used the cooker. There were some very minor issues but as the owner lives at the end of the road these were resolved quickly and easily Perfect place for a holiday

A great place to stay and relax with many beautiful chateaus nearby

We arrived later in the evening than expected so didn’t meet our host until the following morning, but access to the property was easy and straightforward. The directions to the property were easy to follow. The house was clean and well equipped and the pool was wonderful to relax in after a day sightseeing. We were a party of 3 adults in a house for 10 people so we didn’t use all the bedrooms. The kitchen was well equipped and spacious and there were 3 bathrooms. The downstairs bedroom was cool and easily accessible being in what must have been the original house. However, I think a young family may struggle with the open tread staircase off the living room and up to the first floor bedroom. Again 3 adults so not a problem for us. Laurence our host was able to give recommendations for bike hire, chateaux and restaurants to visit. One other thing to note is the security deposit in cash, euros, to be given on arrival, this was returned in full when we departed, but we then had lots of euros to convert back to our own currency on return.
