We enjoyed a lovely time in this sparkling clean home! I'm not sure we've ever stayed in a cleaner VRBO. And we've stayed in many.
You can sit on the porch and hear the gentle waterfall that runs through the national forest that literally borders the property! There are nice upgrades in the kitchen and it was well stocked for this always cooking family. The flora and fauna around the home are beautiful. The views are amazing (complete with a bald eagle's nest across the lake!). We spent hours just sitting and watching the wonder of our view. The owner was incredibly responsive, kind and accommodating.
The only drawbacks for us - very squeaky beds in the second bedroom and a dying ceiling fan in the master bedroom; Painfully slow wi-fi (but we weren't there for the technology, we just had a kid who had to turn in an assignment online); The road in front of the home (that you must cross to get access to the lake) was surprisingly busy and often noisy with motorcycles and trucks; The porch that provides the incredible views could be more comfortably furnished.
I wouldn't count the basement as an option for sleeping. Maybe a teen would choose it, but no adult I know would and the separate entrance makes it a no-go for a child. It wasn't a big deal to us, but it's worth noting.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this spotless, charming mountain lake home and it's proximity to the boat launch, trails and must visit sites such as the Wayah Bald tower. Don't count on quickly picking up what you may have forgotten. You are truly in the mountains with little access to groceries nearby. But, that's part of the beauty! We would absolutely recommend this rental to a small, adventurous, but careful, family.
